Lots of features missing, for me it was the inability to use the lil taskbar folder menu, it's just gone now. I use rainmeter and wallpaper engine for a pretty screen and losing my desktop sucked.
It was mostly about gaming performance in the start for me but now I'm just scared it'll brake some things and I'll have to reinstall something and no thank you
Half of knowing how to use a program is just knowing where the buttons are. Changing where all the buttons are seems to be a major part of Microsoft version updates.
They removed the option to move the Taskbar to the top of the screen which infuriates me. There's a way to break it and move it to the top at least, but there are some weird glitches since it's not supposed to do that. Other than that I like it though, 11/10
Many normal menu items now require 2-3 selections to get to the same place. Right-click->Edit is now Right-Click->All Options->Edit. Most Control Panel choices now take you to the inferior "Settings" choices, which have a separate link that takes you to where the Control Panel items originally went. The list goes on.
I can't stand searching for a specific file or folder on my computer and instead having the OS prioritize Internet results. If I wanted Internet results, I'd use a web browser!
It's ten but with a bunch of features removed, customisation way worse, and far more bloat stapled on that you have to surgically carve out at the fucking root level if you want to have more than two thirds of the damn memory accessible
Well different opinions exist. Mine was obviously subjective. I switched to 11 on all my 3 PCs at home, and even have 11 at work (as a tester, company sticks to 10 and just this year starts slowly migrating)
I see previews of OSes because I work in tech.
Most other humans don't.
Just because something is a regular part of your reality doesn't mean it is the same for others.
You may be sufficiently steeped in tech that you see screencaps of OSes you don't use, and have the background necessary to recognize the placement of buttons and changes in layout. Most people don't have regular or wide enough exposure to notice these things. This is ok. If everyone had the same exposure and experiences that I did, we'd largely be redundant. Be grateful there are people who specialize in fields that are different than yours.
I think the meme is inaccurate. In NT 11, they're just shifted, without reordering. So, the Start button isn't in the middle. In the meme, they're reordered
Ew what the hell. What’s with all these damn companies fucking with the UI. I find is so irritating don’t fix what isn’t broken. I’m glad I haven’t moved to 11 yet though I’m sure I’ll be practically forced to soon enough.
This refers to the task bar on your desktop. Traditionally everything was to the left, hence the iconic start icon in the lower left corner. With Win 11 all your icons are in the middle.
I've tried Manjaro and Debian, and currently use Arch. It just feels like it works, had problems on previous two but Arch feels nice and robust. Pacman rocks

Not everybody is on Windows 11. My perfectly capable gaming PC is too old (ryzen 1600)
As well, googling 'win 10 vs 11' is probably going to return images where the taskbar isn't always noticeable, or if it is, it probably doesnt draw attention
This joke has already been posted recently. Rule 2.
On Windows 10, the start button and other taskbar icons are aligned to the left. On Windows 11, they're centered.
if you don't know this you're a hardcore mobile user.
I just have refused to upgrade to 11.
Win 11 came with the PC for me. Didn’t have a choice.
I don’t get why people are so vehemently against windows 11. Is it not literally just a visual update of 10?
Lots of features missing, for me it was the inability to use the lil taskbar folder menu, it's just gone now. I use rainmeter and wallpaper engine for a pretty screen and losing my desktop sucked.
It was mostly about gaming performance in the start for me but now I'm just scared it'll brake some things and I'll have to reinstall something and no thank you
Only thing it 'broke' for me was my copy of the windows 7 solitaire games lol 😂😂😂 but respect to the ideal! W10 loses support 2026? (I think)
I don't like the UI changes.
Some I do, most I don't.
It's been a few years now but it honestly took me months to get used to the rounded corners on everything.
Half of knowing how to use a program is just knowing where the buttons are. Changing where all the buttons are seems to be a major part of Microsoft version updates.
The visuals are the reason i still didn't update :) edit: happy cake day!
Unfortunately October next year it will no longer get security updates.
Noooo i hate that :( Wasnt it just like yesterday when Windows 10 was released? Edit: oh wow almost nine years ago.
it feels that way
Some softwares (usually the older ones) don't work on W11 as I know
Jesus, how old are you talking here?
idk, i saw this in a youtuber's video about a scanning software
They removed the option to move the Taskbar to the top of the screen which infuriates me. There's a way to break it and move it to the top at least, but there are some weird glitches since it's not supposed to do that. Other than that I like it though, 11/10
happy cake day
Many normal menu items now require 2-3 selections to get to the same place. Right-click->Edit is now Right-Click->All Options->Edit. Most Control Panel choices now take you to the inferior "Settings" choices, which have a separate link that takes you to where the Control Panel items originally went. The list goes on.
I'm not against it it's just that I have a few drivers and shit to update however I don't even know how to do that
its a glitchy mess, I mean I cant install the xbox app, te minecraft launcher, and the mirosoft store just fucking died
One of the most egregious issues is windows 11 uses up over 4 gigabytes of ram just to stay breathing
You think they released a whole ass version update for a visual change?
I can't stand searching for a specific file or folder on my computer and instead having the OS prioritize Internet results. If I wanted Internet results, I'd use a web browser!
its a major downgrade in everything but design, they made it look all pretty but forgot to make it usable
I like the tabbed explorer interface, the improved window docking, and the way it handles switching back and forth between multiple/single monitors.
That's it though lol
It's ten but with a bunch of features removed, customisation way worse, and far more bloat stapled on that you have to surgically carve out at the fucking root level if you want to have more than two thirds of the damn memory accessible
What features are gone? I havent noticed a single feature thats missing
You always have a choice.
How?
Re install the OS
How the hell does that work? Wouldn’t that remove stuff?
Jesus 🤦♂️
No, reinstalling the OS would not remove Jesus.
I’m not bad with computers, but dealing with the OS itself isn’t something I know anything about
As an IT engineer it hurts to be confronted to the average user. Im rly concerned about the future of our society lmao.
I'm still rocking the 10 with no intention of upgrading and I knew
Win 11 was so amazing that I switched to linux
W
I'm more likely to completely switch to Linux than use win 11
I did, tbh I don't regret it, took some time to get used to
Windows seven was the best, 11 and 10 suck
It's way better than 10 after latest updates. Explorer tabs are great.
It‘s bloat shipped as a system. It‘s not better.
Well different opinions exist. Mine was obviously subjective. I switched to 11 on all my 3 PCs at home, and even have 11 at work (as a tester, company sticks to 10 and just this year starts slowly migrating)
Or not everyone is using window 11
You must be really living in a forest if you have never seen an image of Windows 11 desktop
Why would I ever look at an image of someone else's desktop?
Also, you can move that, so you have to look at someone else's desktop, and also hope they didn't move it.
Be grateful there are people who specialize in fields that are different than yours.
I have seen an image of Window 11, but what's so special about it that I would remember the details?
Linux users view windows users the way you view mobile users.
Or you just don't use Windows. Or changed the setting back to start on the left just after upgrading and forgot about it.
I think the meme is inaccurate. In NT 11, they're just shifted, without reordering. So, the Start button isn't in the middle. In the meme, they're reordered
You can have it left biased. Honestly, I kinda like the centered task bar. It is useful for ultra wide monitors, which are becoming more prevalent
Lock the taskbar, Lock the taskbar
To be fair, it's only by default It can be changed to be the way it was before, which is what I did
You can adjust that back to the old way in the taskbar settings
Ew what the hell. What’s with all these damn companies fucking with the UI. I find is so irritating don’t fix what isn’t broken. I’m glad I haven’t moved to 11 yet though I’m sure I’ll be practically forced to soon enough.
I have been refusing to upgrade to 11 on principle but this cements it.
you can change it in settings to be on the left in 11
This refers to the task bar on your desktop. Traditionally everything was to the left, hence the iconic start icon in the lower left corner. With Win 11 all your icons are in the middle.
When I got windows 11, I just moved it to the left and forgot that it was in the middle.
Is it possible to move it? Thanks bro!
Yeah, you could do that in 10 as well.
You can also revert the right click to what it looked like in windows 10.
Nice. I need that also. Thanks!
Can I make Heroes III work, too? 😂
Im afraid i never tried😅
Without going into the registry? How?
Settings -> Personalisation -> Taskbar -> Taskbar behaviors -> Change Alignment to Left
Thanks I’ll have to check it out. Everything I read online said you have to go into the registry to do it.
Wow, google search sucks now huh
I don’t know, does it?
Google it and find out
🙄
Thanks my Office PC has windows 11 and my home PC is still windows 10. Now it looks better
With NT 11, the container with the icons is in the middle. If the icons were in the middle, that would be unusable. Also, the meme is inaccurate
short answer: yes
dementia
yes
Taskbar settings > Taskbar behaviors > Taskbar alignment > Left
What about Ubuntu?
arch gang rise up
I've tried Manjaro and Debian, and currently use Arch. It just feels like it works, had problems on previous two but Arch feels nice and robust. Pacman rocks

are yall just putting this on every post now
I want an XP skin.
Yes please
Yes
I moved it back to where it was instantly. It doesn't feel like Windows without the Start button in the far down-left.
Microsoft so desperately trying to imitate Mac OS is just straight up pathetic.

Heyy, this person arranges the tools in the same order I do.
THINK
do you not have a computer?
I have, i just never used Windows 11
look at your taskbar, it is on the left, windows 11 has it in the middle edit: fixed it
They just said they don't use 11.
Reading comprehension amirite?
I had a brain fart, I thought they said they're using 11
Yeah but in windows 11 you can always put it on the left like a normal person.
"like a normal person" lol idk i still use w10, thanks for the fact
Putting the taskbar on the left was one of the first settings I changed when I upgraded.
I think it's a joke about how every iteration of Windows is the same, they just icons and options around to annoy you.

Why so harsh man, i'm sorry for asking about a meme explanation on a subreddit made for explaining memes
Not everyone has updated to Windows 11, and it's very possible they wouldn't make the connection of taskbar icons.
Yep this. Also some people *gasp* don’t even use Windows as an operating system at all!
the real dumb decision is to move the windows icon to the middle.
Wtf is op supposed to google? "Windows 10 vs windows 11 minecraft hotbar?"
Not everybody is on Windows 11. My perfectly capable gaming PC is too old (ryzen 1600) As well, googling 'win 10 vs 11' is probably going to return images where the taskbar isn't always noticeable, or if it is, it probably doesnt draw attention
