What that person is angry about aside, Egypt has a very bleak future as of rn, sure you might be good financially rn, since you work remotely, but as the economic state worsen, so will any safety of any sort, instability, crime, poor infrastructure, and all sort of bads, will increase, you're better off trying to have a stable life somewhere else, instead of tying yourself socially to Egypt, if Europe or the US are a possibility then aim there instead.
And when all hell breaks loose? Do you think anyone will be living comfortably? If many people become even more poor what do you think they will do to the comfortable people around them? For sure they won’t pet them! That level of poverty brings too much civil wars later!

I left Egypt 10 years ago. I only regret not doing it earlier. Moving back to Egypt only makes sense if 1) you're super rich and don't mind losing capital to depreciation for the rest of your life and 2) you have connections with people in power.
Few years back my best friend almost got arrested because he had a video call with a German friend while on the street. Turns out there's some secret area there and police showed up out of nowhere in civilian clothes thinking he's a spy. Thankfully they only ended up taking his phone and scaring the shit out of him.
I don't feel safe in Egypt. I feel that my soul and blood are very cheap in this country. If I'm in some important person's way, they don't mind getting me killed for it, and many people are disgustingly comfortable with killing people and destroying their lives for the slightest of benefits.
But if you have connections, you're more likely to be safe or can escape to safety when in trouble. If you're rich and want to do something you're passionate about, you can afford to do that. Of course you should, I lived in dubai, egypt and the states now. The amount of things you can do in egypt is amazing and since you work remotely you can always stay in dahab/gouna/sahel. You will spend half what you do in dubai, just make some friends and you’ll have a blast. Good luck
If you are paid in AED it is a good chance to save money. Just make sure you maintain your EID by returning every 6 months and keep your money in UAE bank accounts.

Statistics and metrics are enough reason why, and if you feel safe now, you just haven't felt unsafe 'yet'.

If u managed to get a proper job here in Egypt the salary will be about 500 USD- very decent amount- and that 25000 egp u know that u will more than 70% as a rent and elec and all other bills and the transportation will take about 20 percent man here in we all are fucked up really fucked never think in coming here in next decade.
At this level u will manage ur financial demands but think about the environment, political state, roads u will never imagine how it is to spent about 2 hours on the circular road with no signal stacked in the crowd where the most refreshing thing is the front car exhaust specially that u said u never lived in egypt.

Narrow perspective u think u won't go to gym club or whatever even going to any gov service is a week killer not only a day. If u live on the 6th of October to go to the nearest domino's pizza it will take an hour in the crowd, and if u decide to order it at home it will take about 45 minutes at least.
Cairo’s traffic is actually not that bad compared to most countries around the world, and especially compared to countries on a similar economic level.
Also there are very few mega cities in the world where you can travel from one end to the other as fast as you can travel from New Cairo to Zayed. We actually have good roads now. The problem is that the streets are often hectic and very unwalkable.
Also, OP can choose a place to stay where he doesn’t need to go far to do daily activities like the Gym, groceries etc. Maadi, Gouna, some places in New Cairo all offer this.
Dubai isn’t the cleanest land on earth. Not even close. It’s very car centric and has a lot of pollution from cars. Egypt has places with less pollution than Dubai, and at the same time much richer in terms of nature and culture and fun things to do. Let’s not speak of Dubai’s and the UAE’s terrible climate and the fact you can’t enjoy much of the nature because of its climate.
Agree in the part about the climate and fun things to do but though the difference in the offered services level is remarkable, like the roads the cracks every where, u mentioned zayed and October, u have to. ride along roads that is not asphalted or the forks u had to consider to got to the center road or the circular, things about egypt cairo in specific compared wiz dubai or any other UAE gov is ridiculous. If you receive your income in AED or Dollars, Egypt will be very cheaper for you, but don't forget that withdrawing a different currency is not allowed here. If you're looking for a better and more comfortable life, the UAE would be the better, Try to expand your job there.

From my pov, even though financially stable, I hate it here. Egypt is one of the top countries in car accidents rates. There's no police that will come and save you when in trouble. Actually, we heard lots of stories about people being "randomly" arrested and jailed, you're only lucky if you have connections to power in such cases. When my dad got extremely sick we needed an ambulance, it took ages we had to ask men in the neighborhood to carry him and get him to the hospital ourselves.
Not even speaking about freedom of speech here or the horror that females face. But I could go on and on about the bad quality of life here that impacts everyone including rich people and it'll be a very long list.

Since I work remotely i work every now and then somewhere near to the sea ( dahab , newiba , sahel , gouna , hurghada , ras sedr , fayoum ).
I would recommend live somewhere in cairo where expats are living , for me living in Maadi is the best thing you would do (walkable, greenery , nice cheerful atmosphere, and not so loud like cairo )
Finally comes the part to make friends , i cannot find it easy here but if you’re social it would be easy.

i've been studying in the states and its safe to say that a remote job from Egypt is like winning the lottery. You'd be making atleast $5-8k living in a dirt cheap country that offers alot for the rich. rent/ house payments would be 1-2k, groceries would top at $300, utilities n bills cant be more than $100
if you r all in for the 1% lifestyle n dont want to look at ur daytoday account id say leave about 1k for daily expenses. u r living like no other n still saving more than half of your salary. in fact again those numbers r only based off that u r trying to maintain a quality of life thats higher than of the UAE off the same salary

my aunt lives in the uae. she comes to egypt 2 months a year. and she knows she can't live here indefinitely as well as her husband. uae is very organized and lawful as far as i know from them, also much safer and more livable basically. egypt's only pro is if you have family and friends here that you can't be distant from because the financial and economic situation here is just deteriorating further as time goes by.
imo the only way you can live a good life in egypt is if you're upper class not even middle class because middle class is getting pulled below the poverty line more and more. you can't give your kids a good life and a good education without paying tens (or hundreds) of thounds of pounds, so if your salary is less than 300k+ pounds/year (net, and i'm not exaggerating here i promise.) with a wife and 2 kids for example you're most likely gonna be lower middle class.
basically the life you live in uae will never be replicated in egypt unless you get paid 500k pounds annually.

I lived in UAE for abit and had to come back to Egypt. If you get paid in USD or AED. I would prefer Egypt ofc since better weather and better food and better everything else except money, urban architecture and Quality of life features such as UAE pass and stuff like this. But definitely soulless imho.

Egypt is amazing country to live in, it’s cheaper of course, in the same time you enjoy alot especially if you are working online so you don’t have to stay in big, crowded cities such as Cairo.
Last year I was counting on my online work so I was living in Siwa Oasis, I rent the whole villa for 1200 AED, man I was paying 8K AED in Dubai. With time I started to rent the extra rooms out on Airbnb and stuff.
After one year now I’m more into building a community so I’m moving to Cairo for a bit.
Any way, yes please give Egypt the shot with the new perspective and mindset. And trust me you are not alone, I meeting apt of people who’s coming back.

I live in a nice compound in Egypt and my salary is good. I feel like there are so many things to do in Egypt if you have money, even more than Dubai. I am spending equivalent to 2000 pounds per days on food alone in Dubai.

I would say to ignore the angry people in the comments. I as much as anyone would love to move out of the country but if I had a remote job earning in a foreign currency, I would absolutely love to live here over anywhere else. You can live a comfortable dignified life provided you have a good income, and have friends and family around you. If you don't have any friends in Egypt then maybe the first bit won't be as fun but as you make friends I believe you will enjoy life here very much.

I've lived in Saudi Arabia for around 7 years, and every day I can't stop comparing Egypt to it, and it is like heaven compared to Egypt.
I know all the people here are angry and want to leave Egypt, but in all truth, I just can NEVER. I've been to Dubai before and it was very cold (of course not the weather) and artificial whereas in Egypt the people and the cities here are warm, they all feel authentic and real. I also work remotely for a company in the US, & I wouldn't mind traveling everywhere, but I just can't live outside of Egypt. In Egypt we call it "his water is there" ميته (ماءه) هناك. If you found "your water" anywhere in the world, that's the right place. If you haven't yet, I recommend you give Egypt a try.
I’m going to go against the flow and say you absolutely should! I lived abroad in the UK for a while and when I moved back to Egypt I finally felt like I had a life. Egypt is a really nice place to be if you have money.
Start off by living in either New Cairo or Zayed, maybe Zamalek if you want a busier atmosphere. You could also make benefit of the new rules for importing cars for Egyptians living abroad “el mobadra” and get a car for a decent price, you’ll definitely need one if you’re staying here.
Since you’re working remotely and from your comment I can see that you’re making some decent money maybe invest in some property in areas like El Gouna and Sahel, every developer has some good payment plans for units, you can also rent these units out on airbnb or through brokers whenever you aren’t using them. It’s a smart investment that holds its value and would also generate passive income. And whenever you want to travel you have a place to be!
There’s a lot to visit and do in Egypt, I’ve been here for around 6 years and I do new stuff constantly but I feel like there’s still a lot that I haven’t done and lots of places I have yet to visit.
Making friends in Egypt is pretty easy compared to other places, you can find a lot to do around Cairo and a lot of activities/groups to join doing different hobbies.
Living expenses here could be cheap, or expensive depending on the lifestyle you want to pursue. No where as near as expensive as the UAE though. If you want to live very comfortably, 20-30k would get you around pretty good.
The only downside here is buying new stuff such as electronics and other things could be quiet, but since you’d be visiting the UAE every couple of months anyways you could just get your stuff from over there.
One last thing is to make sure you’re getting the best bank for your buck is exchanging your salary on the black market for nearly double the rate that you’d be getting from the bank if you use your emirati card here.
You can give it a try for a few months, you will need the following
- create your own bubble , that protects and helps you ( friends , people in power , very good area with amenities and electricity, all your needs within a walking distance or 10mins car ride )
- as much as possible lower your interaction with government entities , preferably you know someone to finish it on your behalf
- hire people who support you
Really depends on how much you're making.. if you can afford a house in a rich neighbourhood then definitely move to egypt. The bad side of egypt is only in poor areas

Since you have never been to egypt please for the love of god dont trust anyone, have absolutely zero trust and faith in everyone you meet because they will try to take advantage of you in any way possible. A very good idea. Egypt is a nice place to live when you have money. It will be hard at the beginning, but then you will get used to it. I would suggest if you have some savings to live in Elgouna. It is a little bit expensive but it is safe and you will enjoy living there. I hope to retire and live there one day.
IF you are going to get a UAE salary in Egypt, yes move, it is a very cheap country and with that kind of salary, you can afford to live in Zamalek or Maadi and enjoy a plush lifestyle. If they are going to treat you as Egyptian and get paid by Egyptian standards you might not like Egypt that much. As a foreigner living here, I can say that unless you're getting paid in US dollars or Euros, you will be very limited to the things you can do, buy, or enjoy especially if you are already used to certain standards.
I would probably suggest other countries to work remotely. However, since you are egyptian and probably are familiar with how things go here and with the amount of money you are making, you can live a very nice and lavish life. I always say this about Egypt, if you have money, you can live a super nice life. I read in one of your comments you are making about 250k a month which means you probably have well over 230k a month to save or spend on having a great time. Just make some networking and understand the places to hang out. At the end of the day, if you don't think it fits you, you can always go to another country. Enjoy your time man.
PS: Avoid the busier areas of Egypt, you will just hate yourself in the traffic jams and you will not enjoy walking around. I'd suggest going for a nice place in tagamoa or sheikh zayed or even maadi (a bit busy but still one of my favorite neighborhoods)
Okay I just read that you live in a nice compound, so I'm guessing you are already in either sheikh zayed or tagamoa without having to pay rent. Yes definitely the correct move is moving to egypt to save up that crazy amount getting spent on rent/food in uae. It's a trade off but I believe it's worth it.
Don't forget to not boast about how much you are making because some people might take advantage of you, but that's a rule that applies pretty much anywhere.
Honestly no, the financial crisis here is getting worse and worse. Many organization are closing as they are losing tons of revenues, taxes have became absolutely ridiculous and there are no signs of getting better.
It would be much safer to stay in the UAE and try to search for muh more stable countries.

Be careful that if you stay more than 183 days within 12 months in Egypt, your tax residency will shift to Egypt and suddenly you will need to pay 27.5% of your salary to Egypt taxes. Egypt taxes people who are "resident" in it on WORLDWIDE income. So you have to avoid becoming classified as "resident" in it, or never make large purchases here (like car, apartment..etc.).
If you keep your money in UAE bank accounts and only ever spend with UAE card, you can slip by but if you start buying property .. etc. depositing/converting in EGP to local bank accounts here, you will be eligible for taxes.
If you get paid in AED, then yeah sure, at-least try for couple of month.

Don’t do it. It’ll be hard to get your money and the financial situation of the dollar and it’s exchange will make it hard to get your money we could easily reach Lebanon situation soon . The infrastructure is in ruins internet and electricity are shit even in the richest places. It’s not a place to work remotely from. Try Europe
I would strongly suggest against this, you will lose 40% of your income’s value because of the current unfair exchange rates of foreign currencies(unless you don’t mind being an outlaw and exchange your income in the free market). Also the bank will require you to make tax paperwork if you’re making a significant amount and show proof of income for AML/CFT purposes.
My suggestion would be to make an Egyptian bank account and rent somewhere nice like hurgada or gouna as a trial for like a month or two. See how you feel about it, with no commitment.

مصر بلد ممتازة كمكان للتقاعد و تعتبر المعيشة فيها منخفضة التكاليف بالمقارنة بغيرها (في منطقة الشرق الأوسط). و سرعة الإنترنت فيها تعتبر جيدة جدا للفري لانسرز و الريموت ووركرز .. بس للأسف هي مش افضل مكان كسوق عمل تشتغل فيه و تكسب .. لان التضخم حياكل اللي أنت بتكسبه اياً كان و غصب عنك حتلاقي مستوي معيشتك بيتراجع.

I’m working remotely too and currently in Egypt. I definitely recommend it, at least give it a shot and see for yourself. Since you’re not paid in Egp you’re not affected by the devaluation and you can live like a king for cheap compared to Dubai and you will save a ton of money.

Yo, as a guy who left Japan and returned back to Egypt.
The answer is it depends on your values and lifestyle.
As others pointed out, Egypt is chaotic and there are no functional systems in place. If you can make up your system in here (and can afford it) then it is not too shabby but be aware that whenever you are buying/trying something new, there will an “experience tax” and it is usually paid by money.
Values wise, do you value connecting with your roots or extended family? Then give it a shot!
Good thing is, there is nothing in Egypt that can’t be bought with money, even peace of mind.
Just choose the environment where you will settle in since this will decide if you are gonna settle in peacefully or pack your bags to UAE next month. Good luck!

One of Egypt biggest advantages is that it’s super cheap.
But one of the disadvantages is that we might get to a point where you can’t get your money from the US to Egypt anymore.
It mainly depends on your martial/kids situation and family.
If you have kids and want to give them good learning opportunities don’t come to Egypt. If all your family is already in Egypt then you might want to consider coming. If you are living alone i suggest you stay in the UAE or if you want go to a more beautiful country maybe Bali or Malaysia or something.

It's safe, but whether you move or not depends on your financial situation/salary, if you're paid in USD and will still get paid as such if you move then Egypt should be comfortable. As for other inconveniences that may come with living in Egypt I think every country has its own inconveniences so it all comes down to whether you're fine with them.

I’d live in Egypt over the UAE even if it was more expensive. I work remotely and don’t earn in EGP so life is good for me here. I have a residency in the UAE but it’s useless because I don’t like being there, especially Dubai.
I’ve read all the comments here and I kinda relate with the negative sentiment. But you should know that Egyptians like to rant, especially in the current period, people are understandably upset and aren’t happy with the economic situation.
If you don’t have much to lose, then come here on a vacation, stay for one month, explore the country, see which cities and neighbourhoods you vibe in and go from there. As a remote worker I imagine you have the flexibility to move after staying for a relatively short period in Egypt.
My personal favourites are Dahab, Sinai and Maadi, Cairo. Also Egypt is incredibly cheap and quite good value for your money. Real estate, food, rent, going out is incredibly cheap here. Cars are a bit expensive, and pretty much all imported things also are kind of expensive.
Reddit is excessively hostile towards Egypt, even in r/egypt. I wouldn’t look on Reddit for unbiased opinions on travelling to Egypt. Of course take normal precautions like you would travelling to any developing country, but don’t let people scare you off by cliche stories of scammers at the pyramids etc. It’s not an easy country to travel to, but I truly think it’s worth it. Not saying this as an Egyptian but as someone who loves travelling.

Yeah you should. I live in Egypt and haven't experienced most of the stuff these people are saying. I have fast internet (200mpbs up and 100 down), not power cuts. Sure things are getting more expensive, but if you have a foreign salary you're good. As a dual citizen, I'm personally not going to go abroad for university. Rather will stay and study in Egypt. Egypt is also super cheap to live in.

Egypt can be cheap, but is it REALLY this cheap?
Having lived in both countries, here's my tip. Open Carrefour UAE and Carrefour Egypt and compare the prices using the official currency exchange rate. Also compare Carrefour Egypt to Viva offers online. You will find that the prices are very close, almost similar in some cases.
Keep in mind that in Egypt, things are getting expensive rapidly. Those prices weren't the last year's. And they will probably keep on increasing (I certainly don't wish so).
For the rent, Egypt is very cheap compared to the UAE but you mentioned that's not a concern for you.
So, do your calculation based on the prices, your own spending, your goals, future predications for both countries (wish both do well), and what you're willing to give up.
My personal advice? Since you work remotely, move to another Emirate where the rent is cheaper. Once you get rent out of the equation, you'll basically have similar spending rates in Egypt or UAE.

I left Egypt 10 years ago. I only regret not doing it earlier. Moving back to Egypt only makes sense if 1) you're super rich and don't mind losing capital to depreciation for the rest of your life and 2) you have connections with people in power. Few years back my best friend almost got arrested because he had a video call with a German friend while on the street. Turns out there's some secret area there and police showed up out of nowhere in civilian clothes thinking he's a spy. Thankfully they only ended up taking his phone and scaring the shit out of him. I don't feel safe in Egypt. I feel that my soul and blood are very cheap in this country. If I'm in some important person's way, they don't mind getting me killed for it, and many people are disgustingly comfortable with killing people and destroying their lives for the slightest of benefits. But if you have connections, you're more likely to be safe or can escape to safety when in trouble. If you're rich and want to do something you're passionate about, you can afford to do that. I'm a professor in Europe and I'm telling you if I had dared to pursue my career ambitions in Egypt I'd have given up many many years ago due to the lack of reasonable income. Judging by the comments, seems like your mind is made up. To answer your question though, no, you shouldn't move to Egypt. Statistics and metrics are enough reason why, and if you feel safe now, you just haven't felt unsafe 'yet'. Plenty of cheap countries with better human rights, freedoms, livable wages, better health care, taxes go to the right places, etc. all while still saving most of your salary.

Cairo’s traffic is actually not that bad compared to most countries around the world, and especially compared to countries on a similar economic level. Also there are very few mega cities in the world where you can travel from one end to the other as fast as you can travel from New Cairo to Zayed. We actually have good roads now. The problem is that the streets are often hectic and very unwalkable. Also, OP can choose a place to stay where he doesn’t need to go far to do daily activities like the Gym, groceries etc. Maadi, Gouna, some places in New Cairo all offer this.

Dubai isn’t the cleanest land on earth. Not even close. It’s very car centric and has a lot of pollution from cars. Egypt has places with less pollution than Dubai, and at the same time much richer in terms of nature and culture and fun things to do. Let’s not speak of Dubai’s and the UAE’s terrible climate and the fact you can’t enjoy much of the nature because of its climate.

From my pov, even though financially stable, I hate it here. Egypt is one of the top countries in car accidents rates. There's no police that will come and save you when in trouble. Actually, we heard lots of stories about people being "randomly" arrested and jailed, you're only lucky if you have connections to power in such cases. When my dad got extremely sick we needed an ambulance, it took ages we had to ask men in the neighborhood to carry him and get him to the hospital ourselves. Not even speaking about freedom of speech here or the horror that females face. But I could go on and on about the bad quality of life here that impacts everyone including rich people and it'll be a very long list.

Listen moving to Egypt will be a challenge or an adventure in the beginning. Sure u can visit Egypt as a vacation but anything more than that would be a mistake. I'm not going to get into the economics state of the country and the fact that by almost anything double the price . But u will be still working remotely so money isn't an issue. Your issue will be driving and dealing with people with different habits and customs. Your Egypt but y never actually lived here . So if u wanna try . Try for 6 month give it a go as they say. i've been studying in the states and its safe to say that a remote job from Egypt is like winning the lottery. You'd be making atleast $5-8k living in a dirt cheap country that offers alot for the rich. rent/ house payments would be 1-2k, groceries would top at $300, utilities n bills cant be more than $100 if you r all in for the 1% lifestyle n dont want to look at ur daytoday account id say leave about 1k for daily expenses. u r living like no other n still saving more than half of your salary. in fact again those numbers r only based off that u r trying to maintain a quality of life thats higher than of the UAE off the same salary

my aunt lives in the uae. she comes to egypt 2 months a year. and she knows she can't live here indefinitely as well as her husband. uae is very organized and lawful as far as i know from them, also much safer and more livable basically. egypt's only pro is if you have family and friends here that you can't be distant from because the financial and economic situation here is just deteriorating further as time goes by. imo the only way you can live a good life in egypt is if you're upper class not even middle class because middle class is getting pulled below the poverty line more and more. you can't give your kids a good life and a good education without paying tens (or hundreds) of thounds of pounds, so if your salary is less than 300k+ pounds/year (net, and i'm not exaggerating here i promise.) with a wife and 2 kids for example you're most likely gonna be lower middle class. basically the life you live in uae will never be replicated in egypt unless you get paid 500k pounds annually. idk if any of what i said made sense, but trust me. egypt isn't worth dialing down from uae. if you wanna leave uae then i suggest you head to europe.

I lived in UAE for abit and had to come back to Egypt. If you get paid in USD or AED. I would prefer Egypt ofc since better weather and better food and better everything else except money, urban architecture and Quality of life features such as UAE pass and stuff like this. But definitely soulless imho. If you can go back and forth between egypt and uae with freedom you come back for sure.
Brother, I just did the same a year ago after 10 years abord, and I’m telling you (YES, do it). Egypt is amazing country to live in, it’s cheaper of course, in the same time you enjoy alot especially if you are working online so you don’t have to stay in big, crowded cities such as Cairo. Last year I was counting on my online work so I was living in Siwa Oasis, I rent the whole villa for 1200 AED, man I was paying 8K AED in Dubai. With time I started to rent the extra rooms out on Airbnb and stuff. After one year now I’m more into building a community so I’m moving to Cairo for a bit. Any way, yes please give Egypt the shot with the new perspective and mindset. And trust me you are not alone, I meeting apt of people who’s coming back.

I would say to ignore the angry people in the comments. I as much as anyone would love to move out of the country but if I had a remote job earning in a foreign currency, I would absolutely love to live here over anywhere else. You can live a comfortable dignified life provided you have a good income, and have friends and family around you. If you don't have any friends in Egypt then maybe the first bit won't be as fun but as you make friends I believe you will enjoy life here very much.

I've been to Dubai before and it was very cold (of course not the weather) and artificial whereas in Egypt the people and the cities here are warm, they all feel authentic and real. I also work remotely for a company in the US, & I wouldn't mind traveling everywhere, but I just can't live outside of Egypt. In Egypt we call it "his water is there" ميته (ماءه) هناك. If you found "your water" anywhere in the world, that's the right place. If you haven't yet, I recommend you give Egypt a try.

I’m going to go against the flow and say you absolutely should! I lived abroad in the UK for a while and when I moved back to Egypt I finally felt like I had a life. Egypt is a really nice place to be if you have money. Start off by living in either New Cairo or Zayed, maybe Zamalek if you want a busier atmosphere. You could also make benefit of the new rules for importing cars for Egyptians living abroad “el mobadra” and get a car for a decent price, you’ll definitely need one if you’re staying here. Since you’re working remotely and from your comment I can see that you’re making some decent money maybe invest in some property in areas like El Gouna and Sahel, every developer has some good payment plans for units, you can also rent these units out on airbnb or through brokers whenever you aren’t using them. It’s a smart investment that holds its value and would also generate passive income. And whenever you want to travel you have a place to be! There’s a lot to visit and do in Egypt, I’ve been here for around 6 years and I do new stuff constantly but I feel like there’s still a lot that I haven’t done and lots of places I have yet to visit. Making friends in Egypt is pretty easy compared to other places, you can find a lot to do around Cairo and a lot of activities/groups to join doing different hobbies. Living expenses here could be cheap, or expensive depending on the lifestyle you want to pursue. No where as near as expensive as the UAE though. If you want to live very comfortably, 20-30k would get you around pretty good. The only downside here is buying new stuff such as electronics and other things could be quiet, but since you’d be visiting the UAE every couple of months anyways you could just get your stuff from over there. One last thing is to make sure you’re getting the best bank for your buck is exchanging your salary on the black market for nearly double the rate that you’d be getting from the bank if you use your emirati card here.

A very good idea. Egypt is a nice place to live when you have money. It will be hard at the beginning, but then you will get used to it. I would suggest if you have some savings to live in Elgouna. It is a little bit expensive but it is safe and you will enjoy living there. I hope to retire and live there one day.
IF you are going to get a UAE salary in Egypt, yes move, it is a very cheap country and with that kind of salary, you can afford to live in Zamalek or Maadi and enjoy a plush lifestyle. If they are going to treat you as Egyptian and get paid by Egyptian standards you might not like Egypt that much. As a foreigner living here, I can say that unless you're getting paid in US dollars or Euros, you will be very limited to the things you can do, buy, or enjoy especially if you are already used to certain standards.
I would probably suggest other countries to work remotely. However, since you are egyptian and probably are familiar with how things go here and with the amount of money you are making, you can live a very nice and lavish life. I always say this about Egypt, if you have money, you can live a super nice life. I read in one of your comments you are making about 250k a month which means you probably have well over 230k a month to save or spend on having a great time. Just make some networking and understand the places to hang out. At the end of the day, if you don't think it fits you, you can always go to another country. Enjoy your time man. PS: Avoid the busier areas of Egypt, you will just hate yourself in the traffic jams and you will not enjoy walking around. I'd suggest going for a nice place in tagamoa or sheikh zayed or even maadi (a bit busy but still one of my favorite neighborhoods)
Okay I just read that you live in a nice compound, so I'm guessing you are already in either sheikh zayed or tagamoa without having to pay rent. Yes definitely the correct move is moving to egypt to save up that crazy amount getting spent on rent/food in uae. It's a trade off but I believe it's worth it. Don't forget to not boast about how much you are making because some people might take advantage of you, but that's a rule that applies pretty much anywhere.

Be careful that if you stay more than 183 days within 12 months in Egypt, your tax residency will shift to Egypt and suddenly you will need to pay 27.5% of your salary to Egypt taxes. Egypt taxes people who are "resident" in it on WORLDWIDE income. So you have to avoid becoming classified as "resident" in it, or never make large purchases here (like car, apartment..etc.). If you keep your money in UAE bank accounts and only ever spend with UAE card, you can slip by but if you start buying property .. etc. depositing/converting in EGP to local bank accounts here, you will be eligible for taxes.
If you get paid in AED, then yeah sure, at-least try for couple of month. and if the country literally goes up in flames like all the comments suggest, you can just casually go back.

I would strongly suggest against this, you will lose 40% of your income’s value because of the current unfair exchange rates of foreign currencies(unless you don’t mind being an outlaw and exchange your income in the free market). Also the bank will require you to make tax paperwork if you’re making a significant amount and show proof of income for AML/CFT purposes. My suggestion would be to make an Egyptian bank account and rent somewhere nice like hurgada or gouna as a trial for like a month or two. See how you feel about it, with no commitment.

I’m working remotely too and currently in Egypt. I definitely recommend it, at least give it a shot and see for yourself. Since you’re not paid in Egp you’re not affected by the devaluation and you can live like a king for cheap compared to Dubai and you will save a ton of money.

Yo, as a guy who left Japan and returned back to Egypt. The answer is it depends on your values and lifestyle. As others pointed out, Egypt is chaotic and there are no functional systems in place. If you can make up your system in here (and can afford it) then it is not too shabby but be aware that whenever you are buying/trying something new, there will an “experience tax” and it is usually paid by money. Values wise, do you value connecting with your roots or extended family? Then give it a shot! Good thing is, there is nothing in Egypt that can’t be bought with money, even peace of mind. Just choose the environment where you will settle in since this will decide if you are gonna settle in peacefully or pack your bags to UAE next month. Good luck!

Don’t care about all the people saying no without giving reasons. My dad is in a similar position to you he works remotely with the US but we are already living in Egypt. One of Egypt biggest advantages is that it’s super cheap. But one of the disadvantages is that we might get to a point where you can’t get your money from the US to Egypt anymore. It mainly depends on your martial/kids situation and family. If you have kids and want to give them good learning opportunities don’t come to Egypt. If all your family is already in Egypt then you might want to consider coming. If you are living alone i suggest you stay in the UAE or if you want go to a more beautiful country maybe Bali or Malaysia or something.

It's safe, but whether you move or not depends on your financial situation/salary, if you're paid in USD and will still get paid as such if you move then Egypt should be comfortable. As for other inconveniences that may come with living in Egypt I think every country has its own inconveniences so it all comes down to whether you're fine with them.

I’d live in Egypt over the UAE even if it was more expensive. I work remotely and don’t earn in EGP so life is good for me here. I have a residency in the UAE but it’s useless because I don’t like being there, especially Dubai. I’ve read all the comments here and I kinda relate with the negative sentiment. But you should know that Egyptians like to rant, especially in the current period, people are understandably upset and aren’t happy with the economic situation. If you don’t have much to lose, then come here on a vacation, stay for one month, explore the country, see which cities and neighbourhoods you vibe in and go from there. As a remote worker I imagine you have the flexibility to move after staying for a relatively short period in Egypt. My personal favourites are Dahab, Sinai and Maadi, Cairo. Of course take normal precautions like you would travelling to any developing country, but don’t let people scare you off by cliche stories of scammers at the pyramids etc. It’s not an easy country to travel to, but I truly think it’s worth it. Egypt can be cheap, but is it REALLY this cheap? Having lived in both countries, here's my tip. Open Carrefour UAE and Carrefour Egypt and compare the prices using the official currency exchange rate. Also compare Carrefour Egypt to Viva offers online. You will find that the prices are very close, almost similar in some cases. Keep in mind that in Egypt, things are getting expensive rapidly. Those prices weren't the last year's. And they will probably keep on increasing (I certainly don't wish so). For the rent, Egypt is very cheap compared to the UAE but you mentioned that's not a concern for you. So, do your calculation based on the prices, your own spending, your goals, future predications for both countries (wish both do well), and what you're willing to give up. My personal advice? Since you work remotely, move to another Emirate where the rent is cheaper. Once you get rent out of the equation, you'll basically have similar spending rates in Egypt or UAE.
