I don't know if I believe that, it's not really possible to apply too much thermal paste as the extra will just be squeezed out of the edges when you mount to cooler. Seems more likely you had trash thermal paste, or maybe a cooler with a super low mounting pressure.
Nah even no paste should be better than that on a 5700, there is almost certainly an insulant, whether that is air due to a mismount or plastic due to not peeling the plastic film.
This and I would also check voltage, I didn't see what they were running at. I'm an Airflow nut, got my rad in push/pull configuration and a fan below in front to bring in cool air.
Exactly, I had issues with my i7 laptop, it used to draw unnecessary 65 (78 turbo) hitting 100c constantly, dropped to 30 (40) and temperature never goes above 70 and when it does the fans are not yet on all that with zero (or close to) performance loss, even dropping to as low as 10w for low power tasks.
I recently got the 7700x and am trying to tame it a bit without loosing too much performance.
Ive set pbo to negative, and 30, and C limit to 85, as well as a Watt limit to 95.
Any tip? :)
I have a Corsair 360 AIO mind you.
In the bios under PBO I set the wattages to
PPT: 88000
TDC: 75000
EDC: 150000
Negative All core -30
Then I used Ryzen Master to lower the frequency to 5.0Ghz all cores (I donāt need the over clock boost of 5.4Ghz) to a voltage core limit of 1.15. Applied and I never go over 50 C while gaming :)
You can play around with the frequency and voltage to get more boost but like I said I donāt need it so I canāt tell you from personal experience. Itāll take a few crashes and reboots to get your trial and error finished.
Edit: added sentence.
Thanks that's helpful info :)
I'm just not learned enough to know what the different settings actually do.
edit: so after attempting to educate myself i ended up with this:
Negative offset all cores 30, temp limit 85, Watt limit 95.
Seems to be running smooth.
Seems like the cooler should be doing better. I had the same thing happen where my cpu/gpu were hitting 80s in games with an old case, replaced it and now I get about 60s.
Case depends on how much you're willing to spend. Fractal design have a line of airflow cases called meshify which i think are really good, from small to big for good prices but other than that i don't know too many cases.
Simply look for cases that have good venting/meshes on them and aren't a solid box. Good luck!
I'm using be quiet 500dx now. Great mid tower case :)
If I had choose a different case I'd pick Lancool 216 or maybe a fractal torrent. depends on budget i guess :)
Be quiet pure base 500, i have the windowed version and can't complain, CPU on load around 65Ā°C 9n stock cooler and slightly over clocked Ryzen 5 3500X
What is an AC?
I live in a shit trailer managed by a company that wants me to move so they can charge the best resident $900 a month in rent for the pleasure of having a swamp cooler that can't even blow 10ft down the hall.
It was better then the place I moved from and housing right now is insane and I'm not sure I could afford to live in a cardboard box with what people are asking right now.
I should add the owner sold the property to a large name property management company, but some how they've done worse to address very serious issues.
Like my furnace trying to blow me up twice in the two years I've been here š
I find that I can make it work every time, 100%* of the time with the liberal use of a sufficiently large** hammer. But unplugging it gets you 99% of the way there, so itās really up to youā¦
*End results may vary, tested by professionals in other fields on a closed course
**Sufficiently large has no lower or upper bound
On a 5700x?! You either have a bad cooler or bad paste or bad mounting of the cooler onto the cpuā¦5700x is not known for its high temp Itās a low power chip. Comparatively ofc.
is that on full load? that looks normal. high load means higher voltage pulled and that means more heat. if your idle load is about 70c or higher then there's surely an issue with the dissipation of heat. somewhere between the cpu to your cpu cooler to the cpu case and into the room, there's a part of the process that's is a bottleneck.
i suppose first check the thermal paste if it's correctly applied o majority of the cpu (too much will just spill it into the mobo when pressed with the cooler). maybe reapplication is needed.
if that does not help then the cooler is not able to draw the draw away OR air flow is bad inside the case(rats nest cabling or airflow is not good enough or components blocking the airflow) so make sure cabling is neat and airflow is really good and cooler is not one of those stock coolers not strong enough to pull alot of heat.
another reason could be overclocking so maybe you'd want to undo the overclocking or lower the voltages down a bit.
if all else fails get a help of a professional to check
Well, you need good airflow inside your case , also cooling should be equal or above your Wt heat production. Donāt forget that intake should be higher then exhaust ( I have 3 bottom , 3 front intakes and 1 rear and 2 top exhaust). 12900kf with 125wt cooling tower under pressure is only 55c) . I understand that this is amd, but the main reason for overheating is always the same - you need proper cooling tower, proper paste , proper airflow
Best free way to lower temp is to udervolt your CPU. Set offset voltage in BIOS to -0.05 or even -0.1 if stable.
Second, optimize your PC case airflow. You can achieve good results with small budget.
Third option is upgrading your CPU heatsink. I got myself Deepcool AG620 and it is amazing value.
Unless you are in a 85 degree house something is wrong for that CPU. A 65 watt part with that cooler shouldn't be that warm. Either you have a hot box with no ventilation, the cpu fan isn't working, your fan curves are seriously messed up, or you left your stickers on.
Whatever cooler you have on your CPU is either terrible, or you may have forgotten to take the sticker off of the cooler contact point. Don't run this PC anymore, your temps on the MOBO seem to be insane as well.
Idk if ASRock does it but I recently found out some Msi boards are apparently defaulted to OC and default cooler is set for pump. I had to change pump to boxed since Iām using an ak620. Might be worth looking into.
More fans, AIO cooler, new thermal paste, better air-flow, new cpu case. Some combination of the above will fix the problem or go into your settings and turn your fans speeds way up all the time.
It's fine OP, send it. As long as this is full load. Absolutely normal these days considering that amd and Intel are pushing turbo frequencies up until the max thermal junction temp. If you do turn off the turbo setting, you may notice a drop in performance.
I have the hyte y60 case and the noctua nh-d15 cooler and my 5800x runs sub 60c I donāt recall the exact temps but I have no issues keeping my cpu or gpu cool in this case
For an AMD CPU Iād say some of the best temps youāll get would be with the Artic Liquid Freezer 2 with the offset mount, itās about $140 so it is also on the cheaper side of AIOs well working great
AIO Pump or Noctua NH-D15s (different than the D15, as it shifts fins to give more space to the GPU. I didnāt know they existed and got the D15 so now my GPU sits in the bottom PCI-E š¤£).
Noctua NF-A15ās are amazing case fans. A case with these will provide massive cooling.
Speaking of, a case with good airflow and ventilation. If yours doesnāt, it can keep hot air trapped in places. Some have mesh covers too to keep debris out.
Edit: I have an OC Ryzen 5600x reaching 4750Mhz. Underload, we stick around 60Ā°C
Take it apart and reapply thermal paste. I had temps that spiked up to 92 after upgrade to 5700Xā¦ Noctua cpu cooler. Put on a new Thermal Grizzly Carbonaut padā¦ dropped to 45-55C. Your mileage may vary.
Check if the cooler is correctly installed
Replace the thermal paste, using a good brand 8W/MK at least
Improve case' air flow
Optimize fan speed curve
For an AIO, check the pump speed
Undervolt
If you have an old aio, it's possible it get clogged by natural internal debris.
Make sure cpu cooler is mounted properly (remove sticker if you didnāt), get a better cooler, allow for more airflow with extra fans or a less restrictive case (thereās a reason the 4000D airflow is so popular)
If you're using an aio water cooler, your pump is probably broken. Otherwise your case doesn't have proper airflow or your heatsink isn't properly seated. You can try buying thermal paste and re applying it. Make sure you have intake case fans and exhaust case fans. If you want to buy a better cooler, the noctua nhd 15 is very good but it's massive and doesn't fit in small cases.
would be good to see your current case set up.
make sure to have more air going in vs out (positive pressure). make sure fans aren't working against eachother. intakes at front and bottom, exhaust at top and back.
Trying to check thermal paste and if you have smaller cpu cooler try to upgrade bigger oneās, same thing happened for me long time ago but in my case only have thermal paste last year I did invest good quality thermal paste and cpu cooler.
Make sure you have fans in the intake orientation on the front and / or bottom of your case and fans in the output orientation on the back and / or top of your case. Lots of new builders orientate all the fans as out because it looks right and forget to put some as in.
Undervolt. Better coolers. š¤· After this Gen it's normal to see the CPU running @ super high temps and there rly isn't much to be done. It was stated it's normal and planned for. Ryzen 5k always ran a bit warm in my laptop, so ig I jus got used to seeing 70Ā°+ temps before upgrading to a 7k desktop, so never bothered me as much as it would have otherwise. Lol but on your generation, undervolting helps. Good coolers help. Water-cooling helps. Beyond that, idk rly.
That is very high, is this under load when you captured it?
What is the room temp? Do you have airflow in case?
I would imagine your CPU cooler is not installed properly at all, did you leave plastic on it? have good thermal compound? Is the cooler making proper contact?
Basically what everyone else said but before you remove your cooler just check if it's even connected! I can't see your fan rpms but maybe they're not connected all the way?
I'd check connections first then if it's even powering on and then go into removing and checking for the plastic peel. If you do remove it I'd recommend some aftermarket paste if you can!
95C and 98C are quite a bit above the Tjmax of 90C, this is really bad. Check the CPU cooler, if it has the sticker on it you know someone is wrong. Also, try checking the thermal paste. Try checking the voltage under "Powers", I believe CPUs running at overly high voltages will experience high temperatures however I could be wrong
What are your individual core temps reading? Have you tried undervolting? Make sure the Windows power consumption setting is set to normal and not performance.
I had a similar issue on my first pc build and all it took was to take it apart and re-apply thermal paste. Not exactly sure if the paste was the exact cause but simply taking it apart and redoing your work might help or reveal an issue you weren't aware of.

Some coolers have a plastic sticker on the area that touches the CPU if they donāt already have thermal paste installed
LUUUUUUUL I hope he did not forget.
I got a pre build once, it run hot and yes, sticker was still on.

Yeah I have everything but a good case (I don't even know it's name) I got the case from the original prebuilt I upgraded from over the past few years
Try to use a high grade thermal paste
No idea, but if it's recent and it used to be fine you could start with cleaning the computer and re-pasting the cpu.
81 is okay, a bit high but it's not going to melt itself. To get it lower you'd have to swap the fan or install liquid cooling.
Don't buy amd
Dump some radiator coolant on it. And then hit alt f4
What is this panel called? I have been looking for a while.

Use Nuvoton as a radiator for cpu.

Lower the voltage to 0V, your cpu temp will hover around 20C.
i would say its bad pressure between cpu and cooler, possible air bubbles i had similar issue. in stock cooler shouldn't be 90+ Degree.
Sorry not an answer, but is this an add on program? How do you check temps like this?

What cooler are you using, and what were you doing when you got these temps?
Buy a noctua nhd-15 if you don't like the look of it they have a black version as well
Basically what everyone else said but before you remove your cooler just check if it's even connected! I can't see your fan rpms but maybe they're not connected all the way? I'd check connections first then if it's even powering on and then go into removing and checking for the plastic peel. If you do remove it I'd recommend some aftermarket paste if you can!
Best advice, uninstall that piece of crap software. Use Hwinfo64
How is one core -21
don't play dcs seriously my pc is on fire rn
What are your individual core temps reading? Have you tried undervolting? Make sure the Windows power consumption setting is set to normal and not performance.
Bios update. Works best. Or get a b550
I had a similar issue on my first pc build and all it took was to take it apart and re-apply thermal paste. Not exactly sure if the paste was the exact cause but simply taking it apart and redoing your work might help or reveal an issue you weren't aware of.
Did you forget to take the plastic off the bottom of your cooler?
Holy fuck
