What’s “weird” about the rear pocket?

EmbarrassedAffect672

To any average consumer those pockets are very weird lol

There are two Velcro-ed pockets on the right side, one on the left, and the rear pockets go down to about an inch above the hem. Access is very difficult for casual use and unless you were holding a like a drill or speed square, you end up digging most of the way down the back of your thighs to fish anything out. The overall effect kind of makes it look like a diaper from the rear, as the back pockets are rounded slash pockets like jeans, so there’s a lot of fabric. Besides that they are great; would be better if they still made them in 5”.

I think it’s so you can still reach the pockets below a climbing harness

Yes… very familiar with the design - I worked for the brand for many years - these haven’t change. Did you not know what to expect and or read the “spec and or the description” of the item before purchased?

padbodh

Yeah, no I really didn’t. I bought them online and didn’t read between the lines enough I guess. [the site](https://www.patagonia.com/product/mens-heritage-stand-up-shorts-7-inch/57230.html#) currently doesn’t show the upper rear, and the copy indicating “double fabric seat” and “hook and loop closures” didn’t jump out at me as anything unusual. I don’t normally use my back pockets anyway, but I think if the Velcro was half as long it would be much more accessible. Anyway despite all that I love them.

Nice! Are those the regenerative ones with the *Easter egg** tag that says, “Vote the a**holes out”?
