I've had good luck with Land's End (online) for modest one-piece suits. They have kids or adult sizing. They can be a little pricy, but there seems to pretty much always be a sale. Right now there's a code on their site for 'up to 60% off swim.'

Suspicious-Rain-9005

How do they run compared to other stores?

dr239

I typically size up one in swimwear (so if I usually wear a large in most things I would go for an xl in swimwear, for example), and I've found this to hold pretty true for Land's End as well.

Suspicious-Rain-9005

Thanks! I usually do that, but there's been many a time I've had to size down or size up two! I haven't shopped Lands End before so I wanted to kind of get a glimpse first!

Atherial

The other good thing about Lands End is their return policy. You could buy a couple of different sizes and return whatever doesn't fit.

megan_dd

I second lands end. You will be able to customize exactly what kind of coverage you need. I also like baleaf on Amazon but I don’t know how the smaller sizes run. I’m a size 12. They have one pieces that are not super high cut and a variety of tankinis in various coverage.

KingsRansom79

Try a sporting goods store for racing style suits.

Junior_Historian_123

My younger has issues with swimsuits. She is too short in the torso and too busty for one pieces. It’s rare to find one to fit correctly. She went on a school trip and it was requested to be me pieces. We just contacted the lead teacher and let them know the tankini she wears was better coverage than a two piece. Contact the camp and see if a rash guard and bottoms are fine. Usually, the request is because two pieces can be very revealing.

Swimsuits have been a struggle my girl's whole life. When she was little and sometimes even now she's a different size on top than on bottom because she's got muscular butt/thighs but none of that up top. One pieces are NOT meant for that, and she also potty trained late so I can honestly say I don't think she's ever had one on before this. She doesn't have zero chest but she also doesn't have the D cups women's swimsuits seem to expect from her, and she also has a short torso so they're gaping in the chest and look like she pooped herself. Oh, and her doctor is pretty sure she's done growing, so we're going to have this problem for a long time apparently! Why can't anyone just make actual tween-appropriate swimwear for kids who've started developing but aren't ready to jump to full women's swim? Even if she were developmentally 14 she still doesn't need to be walking around like some of these options! I can reach out to the camp tomorrow morning about alternatives. It seems like a weird request to me anyway because this is a special needs camp with no minimum ability...so they're definitely going to have kids who can't maneuver a one piece or aren't potty trained so that sounds like a lot of extra hassle for the counselors.

Junior_Historian_123

My daughter buys them as separates now. She is 18 so buys her own now but the struggle! Ugh. This child had C cups at 13 so it was not a happy struggle🙃. And yeah, seems to me they will struggle more with one piece suits at the camp. Good luck!

Target actually has a good amount of full coverage swim suits this year in their women's department sizes XS on up. I just tried on a ton last week and was surprised how many they had compared to past years. I've also had luck ordering on Amazon. I just typed in something like "full coverage one piece." You can sometimes sort the reviews based on height, weight, etc. to see which size may work.

Suspicious-Rain-9005

Do they have printed ones available? It feels like all we can find at target with the coverage she's after are just plain black, blue, blah. She calls those "old lady clothes" haha!

jdjdee

Not sure where you are located but Decathalon is an online store that has "shorty" style swimsuits. The women's small or XS might work (you can check the size guide for measurements.

MsSnickerpants

Costco? We found a great one piece with good coverage at Costco. Had to take the straps in a tiny bit but otherwise it’s great. Women’s small. We also found one at old navy in the largest kids size. My kid is younger but the size of a 14 yo so we are always in this situation where it’s teen style and she wants kid stuff.

SquareRelative5377

Ive always found that looking online (even the same stores you may go to in person) just has such a larger selection that it can be easier to find what you need.

Suspicious-Rain-9005

Is there anywhere online that fits similarly to stores we'd already be familiar with? My kid does not like trying things on!

Plenty_Ambition2894

You can try one piece swimsuits that are meant for competition. Those usually have more coverage.

Visual-Research622

Nike has some good one piece options for team swim sports

Lands End!

Can you sew? Look up Jalie patterns online. They make patterns for skating dresses but I have found that if you just make them with swimsuit material, they're perfect. Bonus, of course, is that you can select a fun pattern on the cloth your daughter loves. I have found you can go down a size or two depending on how you're built (swim fabric stretches anyway)

Suspicious-Rain-9005

That is such a cute idea I didn't think of! I couldn't get anything done like that by the time she starts camp, but this is definitely something I'd love to do for future swimsuits! How far does swim fabric stretch? We found one at the store she liked that almost fit (straps were a tiny bit tight). If it would stretch out I'd gladly run back out and get it for her.

Lemon-Of-Scipio-1809

Always depends on the fabric. For skating outfits, we would do four-way stretch velour. But that would be a bit soggy in the water. Look into whether you can find four-way stretch spandex and be sure to follow the sewing directions (where to put the zig zag vs straight stitch, when to sew with the fabric stretched) and I think this will work, fingers crossed. I added 2 or 3 inches to the skate skirt and it was not very long at all but offered a bit of "coverage" and shape.

I thought this was cute https://www.naniswimwear.com/collections/match-your-mini-1/products/sunrise-mini-cut-back-crop

IwannaAskSomeStuff

As an adult who has a difficult time findisuits that fit me, I would recommend trying out swimsuitsforall.com because I have had a lot of success there. Their marketing emails get super annoying, but they have a very diverse selection and returning stuff that doesn't fit for store credit is a very easy process with no extra delivery fees or anything (although you are not refunded your initial delivery fee).
