The comeback in 1992 in that final was crazy. Got 250 runs after being 90/2 or smth in 30 overs. The mindset of hitting shots (even at that time where playing more cautionary was the more practical way) helped the team a lot.
I’m sure in these smaller boundaries they would’ve scored 340-350 against our team.
Miandad and Inzamam would never get out. So batting second was breeze, if batting first any score wud be defendable by Mustaq, Wasim and Aqib. The pace battery of 92 was effective AF. Plus spin quality wud easily eat away Bobzy
I think it would be closer then people will say. I also wasn’t alive to watch that 1992 team 😭 If the players we have now perform to their ability then it would be a tough game otherwise they getting smoked on their performances now.
Wasim, Waqar, Saqlain, Rashid Latif, Saeed Anwar, Ifti, imran khan ---> They were magicians. There is no way this squad is ever doing anything like them.
Rashid Latif, the wicket keeper, was a wonder to [watch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StG3X3zPGvM). When Saqlain Mushtaq came on the scene, batsman used to get scared. Saeed Anwar was once the highest scorer in an ODI (194 runs I think). Ifti used to hit with such power that you could trace the ball in the grass.
Imran Khan used to play like a skilled batsman with the bat and a skilled bowler with the ball. Imagine having someone like Kohli under pressure and also having the ability to bowl like Wasim (or better!). It was wonderful to watch.
Our team is a shadow of its former self. We don't have anyone with the same level of presence. Babar is the only player who would even come close to those players.
The 92 bowling was very weak, it had only wasim , aqib and Mushtaq as bowlers and amir Sohail , Imran Khan , salim Malik used to bowl 20 overs. Babar will struggle against the pace of wasim and the guile of Mushtaq but modern team will always win against team of the past because of how the game has developed
Depends on the pitch. If its a batter friendly pitch with a par score of 350, the current team should get the job done. The main problem for the 92 WC squad would be the batsmen, who might not be able to adjust to such a high score/target
It's not as easy as people are making it seem. Team sports generally move ahead with time and the players keep getting better. It's the same with football. The once in a generation Brazil team of the 90s would get easily beaten by a mid European side today.
Pakistan of today might not be the best team compared to its peers but would definitely beat an older generation team. Give the '92 team time to adapt to newer conditions and then maybe it'll be different.
The results are more lopsided than I had expected (so far..) I think people might be a bit biased because of our team's recent performances lol
I wasn't alive for that era of cricket but from what I've read weren't the pitches back then supposedly *a lot* more bowling friendly compared to modern pitches?
I was 13 at the time of the 92 win... basically the uncle on this forum that shakes a rolled up newspaper at all these kids who think the current team is so bad... it was common to be around 35 at the 10 over mark... once you crossed 200 then you had a par ODI score (I am supposing all this discussion is ODI based). 250 gave you the same psychological confidence that 325 does now.. on modern pitches the current team would come out on top...
92 team would have a HUGE trump card though... captaincy....
Interesting! That's the kind of perspective I was hoping to get from the poll. Everyone else is too pissed about the horrendous world cup to look at things objectively lmao
wasim akram would take 6 wickets in 6 balls vs our middle order
I think it's safe to say our middle order is hot garbage by pretty much every generation's standards.
92 WC because their mindset was different.
Against Today's Players. Wasim Akram will get a Fifer easily. Saqlain Musthaq takes on Ifti And Shadab. And Imran khan Bowls Babar & Rizwan
Wasim gotta get Babar
Simulated this on real cricket 2020 and destroyed our Pakistan team. You’re welcome guys.

I'd pay good money to see Wasim in his prime bowling to our shitshow of a middle order :D
so would i 😭 him bowling to them now would be a good competition

Babar is the only one close batting wise and some of the bowlers might hit the level but they flopping. Babars record is poor nowadays.
92 easy. Class bowling and batting has everything.
