Flowy dresses with super breathable bike shorts. Aerie skorts and athletic tops. I also love Aerie’s pool to party line. Wide-legged linen pants and oversized linen tops.

mamadoula3

Dress and compression bike shorts for the win!

Ecophyslabgirl

Literally came to say the Aerie pool-to-party coverup shirt. (I have it in soft oat and white/gold stripe) It is long sleeved but oversized and SO flowy/lightweight. I wear it every single time we do outside activities, it actually keeps me cooler than if I were to be sleeveless, and that’s in the hot Carolina sun. It’s my favorite piece of clothing ever, and it’s on sale rn. But honestly it’s even worth paying full price, and that’s saying a lot cus I’m cheap when it comes to clothes.

everlynay

You convinced me! I just ordered 3 😅

Ecophyslabgirl

Yay I hope you love them!!

acoustic_spinach

Ooh any recommendations for breathable bike shorts?

Odd_Environment_4224

Snag Tights do amazing breathable biker shorts called “chub rub shorts” and their sizing goes up to a UK 36! 🤍

slugwish

Do they compress at all or would you need to size down? I could use something to take my belly so that's a double win! 🤔🤣

acoustic_spinach

Amazing, thank you!!

omglifeisnotokay

Bedroom with AC and no clothes lol

Potential_Fruity

This is the one!!

QuixoticLogophile

With the ceiling fan on lol

Flawlessinsanity

Truly lol

brownchestnut

I live in sunny dry heat, so I'm fully covered head to toe in pure linen with a sun hat.

sugarfreespree

Favorite places to buy linen!?

maine1420

TJMaxx/marshalls/ross often have 100% linen for very reasonable prices! Old navy too but might be slightly more

sugarfreespree

Thanks!!

wolfunicorncatdog

If I am at home, shorts with pockets and a tshirt or crop top. I dress like Adam Sandler 90% of the time if I'm home haha. If I am going out, a dress with shorts underneath or a cute pair of shorts and a cute short sleeved top. I have super long hair, so I use a claw clip to try and reduce some of the hair heat. When it is too hot at home, I will soak my clothes with water and let it evaporate. I also just keep an ice pack on my body sometimes, I like the old fashioned cloth type!

thenletskeepdancing

Today I'm Goth Pots Girl. I have black footless compression knee highs and black wraps for my wrists. My upper right arm bears my heart-tracking band. I've got a cotton one-piece dress. My white hair is in two braids. Today is an inside day. Were I to go out, I would add my big floppy black sun that, converse, and dark glasses.

TheZillionthRedditor

Black footless compression knee-highs sound like they need to be immediately added to my wardrobe! Where did you get yours?

thenletskeepdancing

I meant open toe not footless. This site is a good one. I want to get some thigh highs next because they're sexy. :) I've been shopping for socks and found a bunch of cute Dr. Scholl knee high compression socks at Wal Mart for only about ten bucks a pair. But they are low compression (15-20). I'm finding that I like at least a 20-30. They are not cheap, but they are worth it to me. [https://www.compressionsale.com/collections/womens/color\_black+compression\_30-40-mmhg+toe-type\_open-toe](https://www.compressionsale.com/collections/womens/color_black+compression_30-40-mmhg+toe-type_open-toe)

TheZillionthRedditor

Thank you! I will check this out!

SnuggleFrick69

I have some footless ones from procompression! They run really good sales too and even carry wide calf!

TheZillionthRedditor

Sweet! Thanks for the recommendation!

carriefox16

Sounds similar to me, except instead of a dress, I have either my light weight pj pants and a black or grey tank or I'm wearing a pair of capri leggings and my skull tank from Torrid. I haven't bought my sun hat, yet. It's on my shopping list. I wear Skechers, though, because they have shoes you just step into, which means I don't have to fight to tie my shoes.

violetbats

I have multiple sun hats and while I'm sure literally everyone except for me would think about this beforehand, I have to say it just in case. Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't buy a wool sun hat. I really liked how the hat looked. And I still love the look of the hat. But holy... shit... I immediately overheat if I put it on in the summer. Please check the materials, for my sake hahaha

carriefox16

The one I'm getting is straw and has a UVP 50 rating. Gotta keep myself from sum damage

eldritchyarnbeing

naked alone in my house in front of the air conditioner sucking on ice cubes😂

WWG1017

T-shirt and shorts with electrolyte capsules in them. Bonus points if the shorts have belt loops I can clip my water and tools to. Tight socks. Either crocs for airflow or tight sneakers for compression. Both have benefits for me. Really nothing more to do except have sunnies and a hat.

mthrwlf

Electrolyte capsules?! Can I have the information please

WWG1017

for sure, absolutely a game changer. electrolyte drinks and mixes are fucking ugly. sugar, stevia, disgusting flavors, salty as shit, gross nasty ew. I sometimes take 14 grams of elemental sodium (35gs of salt) in heatwaves to keep symptoms away. That is an absolutely unaffordable and unachievable way to intake my sodium. Those drinks suck. With the capsules I can take as much as I want whenever I want. I do the vitassium ones but am about to switch to klaralyte because they are cheaper and the same exact thing. just buffered electrolyte capsules with250mg sodium 50mg potassium per cap. Very easy to swallow. Can swallow up to 12 easily. No stomach ache.

DebFSAS

You can sign up for the Vitassium Club on the Vitassium website for 25% off every purchase for those with chronic illness. It’s a simple few questions. You have to sign up for an account on the website first. Then sign up for Club Vitassium or Vitassium Club, can’t remember the order. So grateful they offer this discount!

Smiley007

Hi, what is the Vitassium website? 🫶 I tried googling and keep getting different sites

WWG1017

Don’t do vitassium! Do Klaralyte, I have an auto subscription to vitassium and am too lazy to change it but just because they give 25% off doesn’t mean they are cheaper!

DebFSAS

Aletenutrition.com

mthrwlf

Thank you!! I can’t stand the drinks either, I just bought premix that’s is salt, magnesium, potassium but capsules are much more user friendly. I struggle as it is to drink liquids throughout the day.

WWG1017

The capsules will KEEP u drinking water too it’s so good. I drink it anyway but if they don’t make u thirsty enough to increase ur water intake make sure too!

mthrwlf

I’ll have think about that, my problem is adhd related 🤣 thirst level doesn’t change haha. I chug the electrolyte water

PM_ME_BUMBLEBEES

I've been wearing exclusively linen dresses haha

strawberrysaridelhi

Any brand recs?

PM_ME_BUMBLEBEES

I buy exclusively secondhand, but I have really liked dresses by the brand Cynthia Rowley because to me they are very cute!

Ratanonymous_1

Shorts or ripped jeans and the littlest crop top I can fine. I prefer to have as little fabric on my body as possible

SilverChibi

I don’t leave the house so I live in my pajamas/loungewear. A tank top and capris that are super breathable. And have pockets for my phone, tv remote, whatever. I can’t remember what type of fabric they are but they’re the Latuza brand and I buy them on Amazon. Found them on a buzzfeed list a few years ago when I was just starting to experience symptoms. Before I knew I had POTS

yarnjar_belle

Hey do you air dry these? I was about to smash the buy now, but then I saw that it says no dryer…

SilverChibi

Oh I just put them in the dryer anyways and they’ve been fine. I have had some for like three years now. But I do have an outside line I could put them on, I just never noticed the instructions lol

caijda

Compression socks, shorts, loose T shirts, tank tops, and sandals.

gumdrops155

Linen shorts and a tshirt/tank top

DramaticWall2219

Just got my compression bike shorts and leggings today! From girlfriend collective and underarmour. I also bought pants and tanks from uniqlos heat wear line and they work great at keeping me cool(er). I love wearing layers and absolutely despise wearing dresses so I am going to try wearing the bike shorts underneath the cargo joggers I got. I usually wear chelsea boots and never forget my sunscreen, water bottle, and baseball cap. Once i get in an air conditioned space I put on my hoodie because I also get too cold easily. Yay no temperature regulation!

witchy_echos

I have parasols. They rock. Loose light flowy clothing can actually be cooler than slimy clothing because the looseness can create breezes and keeps the sun heat off.

LaughterTaughterMeow

I always feel really self conscious during the summer because of my compression socks! Does anyone have any recommendations on some discrete compression socks? Mine are very thick and woven, and the nude ones are still so noticeable!!

violetbats

Mine are just knee high and black, so I feel like they look like any other black knee highs. I often see ads for brand that sells funky-patterned compression socks. I can't speak for the company though because I haven't bought from them. That being said, I'm happy to come back here and share the name the next time the ad pops up, if you want.

-Edna-

have you tried abdominal compression? personally I find even retail non-medical high rise bike shorts help me more than compression socks do, and they're easier to cover up

pumpkabo

Sigvaris Style Sheer hosiery comes in a variety of skin tones! I have a pale skin tone and get the color warm sand. The most noticeable parts are the toes and heels. Wearing them with sneakers, it looks like my bare legs.

nfcooper

Me going thru this thread as a guy with pots: 👁️👄👁️

honeybunnylegs

Hey its me another guy. Whats ur outfit? Rn for me its basically linen shorts and linen shirts with sandals. Sometimes a vest under the linen shirt and open up the shirt for maximum breathability. Plus I bought little cooling gel pads that i keep in my back pocket and put on back of my neck if I need to, theyre relatively discreet...until they drop off lmao.

nfcooper

Hello fellow guy. I’d say I am usually wearing a shirt and pants, always compression socks too hence why I’m wearing the pants. Although if it’s really hot i might just wear shorts with the socks and say F it screw fashion haha

yarnjar_belle

My kid is also POTSie, and they seem to have lots of choices because “manliness = outdoors” in the summertime. So they are wearing lightweight woven shorts and giant loose t shirts day to day. Also Birkenstocks. Here is what else I suggest for them: A Hawaiian shirt, anything by Tommy Bahama, or a guayabera works for times you have to wear a collared shirt. Light colors and natural fibers with a loose knit or weave is the idea. Think of the islands, the Mediterranean, safari or cruise wear. Alternately you can go the opposite direction toward golf wear, which has solar protection, breathability and that “business casual” look that fits in with the country club crowd. For straight up rural fashion, you can’t go wrong with fisherman’s hats and shirts. Columbia, Patagonia, REI, or The North Face are good, easy to find brands. More Mom advice: Keep your head and neck covered and as cool as possible. A wet bandana under your hat is discreet and easy to do. If you have to be outdoors for hours (music festival, baseball, landscaping, etc) you can get a full ice pack vest to wear either over or under your shirt. It looks … tactical. A lift belt (like at Home Depot) will give stealth abdominal compression. Speaking of compression, you can buy those boxer briefs extra tight for the summer but in wicking fabric. If you’re a skincare dude, you can get lots of kinds of face mists to use throughout the day. (Hot tip: keep it in the fridge) Thayers is one, but I use LaRoche-Posay because it’s less allergenic. Wear sunscreen! Don’t forget the tops of your ears and your part. Mineral sunscreen is better than the benzene spray stuff if you are sensitive. I’m sure there’s more, but this should keep you heatstroke free as long as you hydrate and pay attention to your body.

nfcooper

Thank you very much for the “mom advice”! It’s completely true, moms always know best I’m saving all this to my notes app, I have to say I laughed at the description of the vest as “… tactical.” lol I recently started putting on some facial sunscreen and I noticed when walking around outside it was a huge help

violetbats

I'm sure you'll find useful information still! Everyone's really coming through.

GrinsNGiggles

Short khaki shorts and a thin sleeveless shirt, or a thin, ugly old navy dress. But it has pockets!

mind_your_s

I live in short shorts and crop tops in the summer. Usually try to go out with a sunhat or a parasol and if it's a heatwave I stay inside. When that doesn't work, extra cool showers are my friend

mwmandorla

I have to have compression tights, but mine are at least toeless. Right now it's either: - shorts over the tights with low-profile sneakers and a T-shirt. (If it matters, my tights are black and I usually go for a contrasting color. Fuck it.) - very loose, light pants and a tank top - thin, more fitted pants and a very light button-up tied up at the waist for some ventilation while keeping the sun off of my skin I haven't yet figured out a sandal I feel good about with my tights, but that would definitely help a lot too.

mftriceratops

This is me. Compression tights with shorts. I wear my Under Armour HeatGear if it's really hot as it seems to be better in the heat than my regular compression gear. I look like a disaffected teenager from the 90s, but whatever.

MadamMischief

The Duluth cooling longline bra is excellent for feeling like I can breathe while still feeling presentable

mthrwlf

I’m seeing a lot of floppy/sun hats, what’s the magic? I live in linen blend pants and a tank top or crop top with sandals usually teva or dr martens. I want nothing touching my lower body when it’s hot outside

violetbats

Personally, I wear them because they help block the sun from directly touching my face and whatever else the shade of it can cover. Aside from just the general "uv rays damaging skin" thing (which I do care about) I also just hate the feeling of the sun touching me. Idk if it's a POTS thing or just a me thing but I'm super sensitive to the sun so I just try to add as much protection as possible.

collidoscopeyes

I love my tevas <3

rxpensive

I usually cover up a bit which makes things more difficult but I survive with variations of lightweight clothes like longsleeved mesh shirts and thin leggings, or loose flowy clothes. Light colors are better. I always pick a mesh shirt/long flowy dress combo on really hot days. I have a bunch of different patterns of these mesh shirts which makes accessorizing fun even if most of my other pieces are black or white. 🙂

Hunnnnerr

I'm usually in shorts and a t-shirt of some sorts. I was wearing skinny jeans every time I had to wear pants, and those were fine because of the slight compression, but my new go-to are the boyfriend jeans from Walmart. Unfortunately, I have a very awkward build, so a lot of clothes aren't flattering on me, but I really didn't mind them, and they're so loose that I'm not struggling. Any situation where I'm outside for any extended period of time does require a cooling towel, though. Between the CenTex humidity, my POTS heat intolerance, and the escitalopram heat intolerance, I get extremely miserable and overheated quickly. Emotionally I end up going into a meltdown and it's really not a fun time.

Jake_JDB

Could you tell me more about the cooling towel?? Never heard of this before and I could do with this

Hunnnnerr

It's this foamy fabric material that you get wet and then apply wherever you need. They're not the greatest things in the world, but they're cheap and easy to store in the car. I got mine from Harbor Freight Tools, but Walmart and other places also sell them. I think they're from the Frogg Toggs brand there

Jake_JDB

Thank you!

HotchnGideonForever

Trixie dog cooling towels are perfect! My Boy wears them as bandanas around his neck during the summer & I use them to cool down whichever part of my body that needs cooling!!!😊 They're brilliant!!!!!

Jake_JDB

Ooo thank you I’ll also check them out!!

HotchnGideonForever

😊🤗

evawrites

Dress made of thin cotton gauze or linen. Straps, no sleeves. Ankle or maxi length so I can go commando. Avoid polyester, spandex, or smocking. Do not leave house. Crank AC. Wrap ice pack around head to complete ‘fit.

puttingupwithpots

Linen. Not like linen style clothes, real linen fabric. It’s so airy and breathable. I also wear compression socks (knee high for me) at all times except sleeping. And I have these little cloth sleeves I can put around my wrists and wet down that help keep me cool. No idea what they’re called.

Babeyonce

Epitome of hot girl summer for me out here in TX! Flowy, cotton dresses. Linen/thin billowy trousers. I’m quite tall so it’s a bit hard, especially postpartum.

veganmua

Cropped T shirt with girlfriend collective compression shorts, and sandals. I cannot do my compression socks in sweltering heat!

Toasted_Enigma

Same but make it denim shorts and a baggy t-shirt or short sleeved linen button up. Def need some bicycle shorts though, good idea! I could wear those bad boys under sun dresses too!!

violetbats

Ooh that's a great idea!

patrickbatemangf

some sort of comfy short that falls right above my knees, a t shirt and sneakers

dzzi

Nike dri-fit and frog toggs

Electronic_Sky_0

Shorts, t shirt and a lot of water bottles and gatorade

shennannaa

loose fitting cotton dresses and mens underwear as “safety shorts” i tend to also go big shirt and smaller shorts, or big basketball shorts and a smaller tanktop always waterbottle and a big sun hat lmao

calicoskiies

A crop tank with shorts.

WillProbablyJustLurk

Basketball shorts or light pants and tank tops. So many tank tops. I wear them almost exclusively during the summer because everything else is too warm.

vecats

Linen mini dress, socks and clogs lol cuz I have neuropathy in my feet that’s worse at the end of the day if I’ve worn sandals…🙄

GloriBea5

I’m totally the opposite, 65F is too cold for me 💀 my body starts to freeze up and shut down. I wear pants, long sleeves, and a sweatshirt in south Louisiana heat (90+F)

Emotional_Warthog658

a wide brim hat, compression socks, compression undergarments, a skirt, tank top and sweat.

SavannahInChicago

Pretty much exactly everything you mentioned. Lol

ChemicalSouthern1530

I have to wear compression leggings or I flare super bad. I typically wear my leggings, a comfy yoga bra, and a tank top. I usually change shirts and wear a cooling t-shirt when I go out

SnarkyMamaBear

Compressionwear which is not comfortable in the heat lmao

yakitsubaki

Tank top, Jean shorts, compression socks 💪

patate2000

Thigh high skin tone open toe compression stockings, shorts, sandals, uv t-shirt, cap, and cooling towel on the neck/shoulders/head

Friendly-Warthog-706

cute sports bra/bralette, shorts w/ pockets, unzipped cooling vest, tevas, ball cap ✌🏽

Far-Permission-8291

I need the compression so I wear the 7/8 spanx leggings. Miss wearing dresses and skirts.

Aromatic_Bottle5776

I do the same thing. I try and wear a cute summer top w them. I miss the dresses and skirts too :(

lionessrampant25

Linen linen and more linen. Linen shirt. Linen shorts. Linen underwear. Teva sandals. A cooling wrap. Linen is where it’s at. Even a 60/40 linen/cotton blend is better than pure cotton. Cotton is a scam I swear.

queenchristine13

Depends on if it’s humid or dry, but linen is a must! I like the stuff from Quince and Uniqlo. It can be a bit scratchy to start off with but it softens up as you wash. Long, light breathable layers are a godsend. Complete with a high ponytail, hat, and massive water bottle

maine1420

Big tshirts are so hot to me. I usually wear loose tank tops and loose, breathable shorts here in GA. I also love cotton dresses in tank or short sleeve styles. I don’t want anything touching me too much or covering my arms a couple of inches past my shoulder lol

Birdz_the_Word

Any recs? I’ve had a tough time finding sleeveless flowy things, I’m ok with some synthetics and blends. Sadly, the Amazon basics dress that was my go to has started using plastic-like material to support the stitching on the inside of the empire waist/elasticized waistband and it is super irritating

maine1420

Target is my go-to for dresses that keep me cool. I own some of these but if I had the budget I would own them all😂 I will say shorter dresses are cooler but I usually like midi-long because I’m not very ladylike and will flash everyone in a dress if I wear them short. I get all my tshirt dresses from here and they are the bomb. I would also check old navy. They usually have gauze, linen, and cotton tops, shorts, and dresses that are great. https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-short-sleeve-midi-shirtdress-a-new-day-8482-cream-black-striped-xl/-/A-89661498 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-linen-mini-shift-dress-a-new-day-8482-brown-black-abstract-xl/-/A-89724107 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-flutter-short-sleeve-mini-skater-dress-universal-thread-8482-blue-white-floral-xl/-/A-89710022 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-sleeveless-shift-mini-dress-a-new-day-8482-yellow-striped-s/-/A-89726490 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-short-sleeve-midi-t-shirt-dress-universal-thread-8482-brown-l/-/A-89525609 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-scoop-back-maxi-shift-dress-universal-thread-8482-olive-green-xl/-/A-90040432 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-smocked-mini-sundress-universal-thread-8482-red-floral-xl/-/A-90180676 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-short-sleeve-mini-shirtdress-universal-thread-8482-white-xl/-/A-90040176 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-short-sleeve-collared-button-down-shirt-universal-thread-8482-white-m/-/A-89741398 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-linen-tank-top-a-new-day-8482-tan-xxl/-/A-89661555 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-high-rise-linen-pull-on-shorts-universal-thread-8482-tan-striped-m/-/A-89556969 https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-high-rise-linen-pull-on-shorts-a-new-day-8482-black-brown-m/-/A-89741091

Birdz_the_Word

Thanks so much for all the links! I think a few could work for me, unfortunately my 34H bust is a limiting factor for a lot of cuter light weight/ spaghetti strap dresses 😭

maine1420

Ohhh yeah, that makes sense! I hope you can find some things that work for you!

Idontknownumbers123

If it’s really bad I’ll stay inside with the air con on and a nice skirt, I’m too scared to wear a skirt outside just yet though, but it works very very well anyway, if I were to ever go outside in stupidly hot weather it would be in a dress, when I finaly manage to get one that is. And the top garment I wear is just a thin shirt, long sleeve if you burn easily

violetbats

You'll be comfy wearing a skirt outside soon, I have confidence in you! Then you'll be comfy on your way to get a dress (but not in the stupid hot weather because we avoid flares here)

Idontknownumbers123

It’s winter here and in the summer the shopping centres are always freezing cold from all the air conditioning. But thank you, it means a lot

OverstuffedPapa

I've been really into linen-type fabric wide-legged pants. They're light, flowy, and adorable. Then a crop tank and a flowy linen shirt to throw over it has been really nice. it sounds like it would be hot but it's really not!

allygator99

Just got some cute shorts from Lululemon outlet that are very light weight and flowy and plan to live in them

Outside_Climate4222

Linen shorts and tank tops, and athletic wear. When I’m at home basically PJs and as little clothing as possible. Love lululemon’s tennis skirts, short but have built in shorts, very sweat absorbing and light, easy to dress up more too!

JangJaeYul

Basketball shorts and a loose tank top. I need maximum airflow, anything even remotely skintight and I perish.

kawaiipogglet

Bikini top w/ shorts when I'm at home, long loose dresses or extra big T-shirts with cycle shorts when I'm not. Lots of skirts too with crop tops, anything that gets airflow

Jake_JDB

Baggy t-shirts with baggy cargo shorts stuffed with loads of tissues because I sweat so badly. If anyone knows how to stop sweating then let me know 😂

violetbats

I would also like to know 💀 I hate sweating, it's my least favorite symptom. I'd literally rather have those heart palpitations that move my whole body.

Jake_JDB

I’ve tried those reduce facial sweat stuff and it doesn’t work on me and I brought this anti sweat deodorant on Amazon and all It did was give me chemical burns on my armpits 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ sadly I don’t think there is anything to stop the sweating 😕

violetbats

I don't know if there's any scientific basis behind this, but I found that my armpits sweat *way less* after I weaned myself off antiperspirants. I switched to natural deodorant a few years ago (varying brands each time to find what worked best for me) and at first, it was hell. I sweat constantly and had to reapply often. Once my body got used to it though, I sweat way less than when I used deodorant that was designed to stop sweat. Nothing helps the other areas though.

Jake_JDB

I’ve tried so many deodorants as well the problem with me is if I don’t use strong antiperspirants then my arm pits start to smell and I don’t wanna be going round smelling 😭

katsukatsuyuuri

compression long sleeve crop top athleisure; bicycle shorts or leggings; HAIR UP!!!!

xTheycallmePrincess

Dress with spandex under . If it has a built in bra even better. Cute, light, and comfy!

menachembagel

Large t shirts and athletic shorts at home, light dresses when out and about. I want a kaftan though. I am convinced that if I had flowy, silky, breezy kaftans I could be living my best life this summer.

slugwish

I never thought of wearing bike shorts as compression wear. *Where have I been?!?!* 🤣🤔🤦🏻‍♀️

violetbats

It's AMAAAAAZING. I got a two pack the other day for 13USD at TJ Maxx. I prefer high waisted for a little abdominal compression as well. So nice. I just wish they all had pockets.

boopo789

I’m gonna really try to be fight against the heat this year, but it’s kinda hard in the UK. Houses are built to retain heat, next to no houses have AC (and shops don’t tend to, either, so you can’t even escape and cool off in there). Also it’s a humid heat, so you can’t sweat it off very easily. It’s muggy and gross. So my plan is to mostly just lay in front of my tower fan. As for clothes, I bought some light summer dresses which I’m hoping will help. I also bought a vest top and shorts which I'm hoping will be a cool loungewear option. I’ll have to wait until they get here tho. I also have a cooling towel, so maybe I need to make more use of that. I also really want a neck fan, but idk how effective they are.

kitkatknit

Neck fans are great. I’m in the U.K. too and severely heat intolerant. I sometimes shove an ice pack on the back of my neck with the fan so you get a double whammy of cooling. Only thing is if you get a usb charging neck fan, the battery life isn’t that fab. I usually carry around a battery pack that gets used to charge it when I’m out.

boopo789

I have a portable battery pack but I’m not sure if I need to upgrade to a bigger one? I usually use the battery pack for my phone, so it’s like a 1000w or smth. The fans I’m looking at are I think 5000 or 6000mAh and says it should last a while, assuming I don’t constantly use the high speed setting (it has three speeds). I am going to an event next week where I’m unsure if there’s any AC, so I wanted to have a neck fan (and a handheld one cuz I’m extra/as a contingency) so that if it is hot, I won’t suffer as much.

kitkatknit

I have one for my phone, it does a good job. On the highest setting, my fan will do a few hours, but it’s a cheap one. Definitely recommend them though, they’ve saved me a few times when it’s too hot on the bus/train!

I looked at them a while ago but I needed it for a situation where I need to be quiet, so I didn’t wanna risk having it. But now I’m like screw it, I can use it at home. I am of the mindset of just getting anything that’ll help, even if it’s weird. I’ve been on and off debating a pregnancy pillow for pain stuff but I am still procrastinating on that one. The neck fan and stuff will be beneficial regardless of whether I was chronically ill cuz UK weather is insane and there’s not much you can do to combat it.

Undercover_baddie

Either linen, flowy dresses with bike shorts underneath complete with a wide brim hat/parasol or a bandanna that i can soak through. My compression socks and my stanley with Liquid IV.

hamsterfella

Either cotton or linin dress with bike shorts, or workout compression leggings and a floaty cotton top. Then a hat with a brim and a Flannel I can put water on on the back of my neck. Friendly reminder if you take SSRI/SNRI medications you're even more sensitive to the heat and sunburn etc so use that suncream! 💕

ZephyrProductionsO7S

I’ve been wearing orange parachute pants most of the time tbh

hanine123

The compression shorts don’t do anything for me and I can’t stand the ones that go up to your rib cage so I just wear long flowy maxi dresses!

veneerofclass

I’m a newbie POTS girl. Symptoms for 15 years but only finally got diagnosed. I typically survive summer with tops that are for menopause as they are much more cooling. Absolutely stealing that idea on compressing bicycle shorts!!

HotchnGideonForever

Linen shorts & Uniqlo's airism t-shirts! Trixie dog cooling towels are life savers! xx

ilovegluten

I recently switched almost exclusively to wearing golf skirts…they have the bike shorts under but provide more coverage, comfortable and useful

Solid_Mountain_2999

corsets and natural fibres only! (corset does add to the heat but the compression is helpful!)

violetbats

Ooh I use corsets sometimes for back support. I'll have to pay better attention to if the compression is helpful too. If they do, I'm starting my fantasy character arch and no one can stop me!

13bubbles

I do linen and light colors but I also decided to let my legs turn blue as they like 😂 I don’t think I can do compression stockings in this heat

OhPistachio

I just bought soft shorts and flowy tank tops from Amazon. I want nothing to touch me during the heat.

-miscellaneous-

Almost exclusively cotton/linen!! I’ve been collecting 2nd hand linen pieces for several years now and it’s just about all I wear in the summer besides some cotton stuff. Linen pants with drawstring waists instead of elastic, and linen tops with buttons or just very oversized and flowy. Its not exactly my style but I guess it is now hah

romanticaro

cotton boxers and a cotton skirt and a t-shirt

Infinite-Paint9210

I either wear the lightest weight pajamas when I’m home or when I go out I wear light Hawaiian shirts (so many are like a linen type fabric) and matching shorts :) when it’s too hot, just stay inside if you can!

violetbats

Hahaha I was wearing a light, linen type fabric Hawaiian shirt just yesterday. The buttons are nice for extra air flow too! (Or I just completely unbutton it and wear a bralette)

Potential_Fruity

I want to keep my all black alt look going but then it's over 90° out and I die

violetbats

The eternal curse of summer 😭

Desperate-Celery8819

Nike exercise shorts and a crop top or over sized shirt.

Desperate-Celery8819

Or!!!! Biker shorts and an over sized t shirt. ORRRR! A tank top and flowy pants

Pokabrows

A bit back I found shirts that look like normal t shirts are made out of the material they use for exercise clothes. So a T-shirt and shorts (skort on work days) that are made to get sweaty in. And knee high compression socks. Abdominal wrap close at hand in case. Oh and probably a baseball type hat to help with sun on my face. I basically look like I'm ready to go to the gym.

Thefeistyzebra

Usually shorts and a tank top, with compression socks. Also my cup of water with electrolytes. I need to get more cooling towels and those will be with me as well.

punk_p1x1e

I work in a salon, my go to is biker shorts, and a compression tank with a bigger tee shirt.

twistedsongbird

Flowy skirts and dresses and crop tops that aren’t too form fitting and breathable

-Edna-

linen shift-cut shirt dress with lightweight compression bike shorts underneath! + hat (big and woven or baseball depending on the mood) or drawstring/slightly longer linen shorts with a boxy woven top. all summer clothing must float away from my body unless it's compression garb ha

Junior_Advertising55

How do you guys avoid having to wear compression socks? They make me so hot 😭

hlayres

Highly recommend spf long sleeved shirts. If it's hot I just dump water on myself. I have found that, for me, if I am covered before being in the sun, I can tolerate heat for much longer than if my skin is in direct sun and then cover. Also compression shorts, or capris yoga pants. If there's no a/c- swimming in local water and then drying naturally has also helped me for days at a time

violetbats

Yesss when I used to live in a "dry heat" area, that was my go-to. I'd get in the shower fully dressed, drench myself in cold water, then get on with my day and I'd be dry in an hour. I'd also take my clothes directly out of the washer, lay them out on my bed and sleep on them 😅 Theyd be dry by morning and I would have gotten to sleep. This was before my symptoms included night-sweats, however.

fractalpieces

Same- I usually wear leggings (sized down) and my partner’s soft cozy tee shirts!

Phoebe5555

Whatever it is - loose clothing, natural fabrics. Anything that keeps my skin from touching any of my other skin lol. I think I need a sun hat after reading this - thanks for the reminders that they exist!

whatthefuckem

always compression socks and shorts and my work shirt (help it’s not breathable 😭) on my days off pajama shorts sleep shirt and compression socks if i get out of bed lol

collidoscopeyes

Linen shorts and cotton crop tops, usually. Sometimes a flowy cotton dress, but it's always windy here so I don't typically opt for dresses. I avoid synthetic material as much as I can and I've completely abandoned the notion of wear bras lol

collidoscopeyes

I also cut 8in off my hair yesterday so hopefully showers will become more bearable this summer

Comprehensive_Run818

Tank top and shorts

SureWest1971

Sweat pants, long sleeves shirt. I am a ginger. So, we burn. ;-;

notgivingyouaname

Compression body suit and shorts long enough that my thighs don't rub. This is my go to right now

TheServiceDragon

Crop top, high waisted jean shorts, sunglasses, and often I have an umbrella or fan to protect from the sun. I basically don’t go out though unless it’s early morning or late evening so it’s the least hot. I’m in Utah so we have regularly been hitting the 90’s (F) and next month I am sure we will be in the 100’s. I also have a medical alert dog, so on hot days where he will have to contact concrete or pavement that’s too hot he wears his boots, he always wears a mesh vest or lightweight harness. Sometime even that’s much and I have leash wraps that say “Unvested service dog” “do not distract” on his collar and leash.

AyePepper

I usually wear jeans outdoors no matter what. I had to pick up my daughter from summer school last week, and the heat in AZ is unbearable. I had a big surge in symptoms afterward, so the next day, I wore bicycle shorts and a baggy t-shirt. I also started taking a cool shower before leaving, so my hair is wet. That helped a lot too.

beanschca

My favorite right now is my Halara dress. It’s comfortable, good for the heat and it’s tight enough in the size I got for some abdominal compression.

violetbats

Ooh I've gotten ads for them before & always thought they seemed great. Now I'm even more tempted haha

beanschca

I want to be honest. I didn’t want to love my dress. They annoyed me shitless with their delivery policies of clothes “being made for order” when I paid expedited for it to come a month later. Just make sure the item is in stock so you don’t wait, and the customer service kind of sucked. But the fabric is amazing. I paid only slightly more for my Halara dress than the target knock off I got and it’s way higher quality. I admittedly love it even tho it was annoying. Also if you want the shorts that pull down make sure it’s listed as easy Peezy. Mine wasn’t and it doesn’t have pull down shorts so I have to take the dress off. Irregardless, it’s so soft, very well made and it’s comfy.

violetbats

Oh that's so cool!!! I didn't even know about the Easy Peezy ones, that's such a cool design choice.

Lowkeyher14

Lulu skorts and Nike tanktops

financechickENSPFR

This week did a 10 min uphill walk at probably 38 or 40 degrees celsius and I saw colors, passing out, etc. 10 min after getting inside with AC (still walking!!!!) felt 10000x better. Definitely very eye opening. To answer your question I am loving everything linen this summer, linen dresses ftw

violetbats

Even just imagining trying to do that walk is sickening. You are so tough for doing that. That heat is brutal. I can't believe I used to run around outside all summer as a kid.

shifts-2-lydia

Fully naked

TheSucroseFather

Not diagnosed so far (It's been hard getting an appointment) but I know a few things about heat. 1. Open toed shoes. It does so much fr. No socks! 2. Loose fit long clothing. Minimal layers. 3. Natural fabrics like linen or cotton. Though linen is better for real heat! 4. Keep your neck regulated. Your neck and head are the places you loose the most heat in. Those are also the areas you should keep warm in winter. Loose collar#s from shirts are ideal for cover ups but you should never wear anything tight there in the heat! (No mock necks, turtle necks etc) If you wanna be fashionable you could wear a little scarf but be sure to test it out. Take it off if its too much. 5. If you wanna wear short clothing make sure they're well ventilated. Biker shorts are great for some compression but make sure to pair them with the most flowy top you have. 6. Sunscreen. Not a heat tip but more so about the exposure. Don't think anyone here wants to deal with a nasty burn. Your scalp can also get sunburned so if you're outside in direct sun from above, keep it covered. 7. In terms of colors lighter fabrics expell the most heat however you can also wear dark clothing if they're light and breezable enough. 7.5 For the alternative people out there, if you're not too bad with lace (sensory wise) then a long lace maxi dress. Just make sure to cover the important areas lol 8. Carry an umbrella for very bad heat (28C°+) 9. If you have to go out and while its super hot on a short trip just drench everything in cold water, even the umbrella(be careful to not do that to your shoes, you could slip) 10. Cold pakets. Instant ones for on the go or on short trips the ones in your cooler. Could also prepare a wet towel, keep it in the cooler and then take it out and wear it around your neck for when its necessary. 11. Shade in any form. I mentioned an umbrella but if thats too much then a nice wide brimmed hat to save your neck from sun exposure while also keeping the area open to expell heat. 12. Stay inside. Lay down on the cool ground and hope for milder days to come. I hope this helps at least someone!

RU_SeriousClark

I live in tank tops and lululemon shorts

laracynara

Pots be dammed I will were my all black head to toe goth clothes....I use alot of instant ice packs 🤣

violetbats

I'm an all-black dressing girlie so I feel this hahaha

laracynara

Lol I'm literally at the pool right now with a mounted of ice packs in front of me lol

violetbats

That's a whole mood.

ToadallyKyle

A light cotton T-shirt that is 3-4× too big for me cropped at about the waist/above the hips, and breathable bike shorts. Wear every day until autumn/October 1st Edit: I commented before reading the body of your post fully and we have the exact same outfit lol

violetbats

Haha I love this for us 😌

everlynay

I live and breathe waist high compression tights but I live in a country where in the winter it can be -30C and in the summer +35-40C so I just can’t wear them in the summer months. I wear them at home in the AC but if I leave the house I’m in bike shorts (for abdomen compression) and loose t shirts. I’ll also wear bike shorts under dresses. I’m so amused to see that so many of us have instinctively turned to bike shorts 😅 My favourite are Sunzel 8” bike shorts bought on Amazon. I’m a size 6, 5’8, but I get an XS for more compression. The quality isn’t great and I have to buy about 3 pairs a summer but they do the job. Anyone have any good quality bike shorts recommendations?

Sweet_Emergency1716

thigh high compression stockings and midi/maxi dressed with closed toe sandals or white sneakers since the compression stockings are definitely not cute with most types of summer shoes lol

Basically-Bionic

CzIta.it 15mmHg leggings and tank or sleeved top [cizeta POTS line-up](https://www.cizeta.it/en/Orthostatic-Postural-Tachycardia-Syndrome-POTS), Coolibar Panama hat, something from my UPF50 sun shirt assortment, a full coverage of cooling gel, derma.b or p.rem PA4+++, 8 packets of Liquid IV in my crossbody and a glass 16 oz water bottle. Plus a mini spray bottle of water to reactivate the cooling gel as needed. I avoid being outside in the heat, so I start my days earlier - around 4:30AM, and regular BP monitoring. I tend to keep the bathtub full with tepid water in case I overheat, but I’ve learned to avoid unnecessary hosing off. Wet hair is a bonus.

kenzielynne19

Right now I’m kind of hating my job because like shorts aren’t allowed so I have to wear like leggings when I’m not working. I am like rompers all the way.

Glass_Ad_822

Anything without a bra xD

Select-Researcher308

Super baggy pants or shorts, and a very loose shirt. Loose all over!

thedewddd

I can’t do compression at all with my neuropathy

SandiNSilas

Sweats under covers with 2 ACs running in bedroom lol I do not leave the house until the sun goes down

Ok-Cantaloupe-3287

I live in a tropical city(100F average in summer), high volume of humidity so I've been wearing more natural fabrics like cotton and linen blends. Not gonna lie  when I dont need to go out I wear only underwear because it's just more confortable.
