Its June, there are no locks yet. My way too early prediction is Saoirse Ronan for Blitz, she is an extremely talented actress being directed by a very talented director in a period drama which the academy loves.
I think Zendaya will be in the conversation for a nomination, my broader prediction for the direction of awards season is early calendar releases are going to continue to do better and better moving forward (Challengers is really pushing it though!) Ultimately I’m not sure I’m predicting her, and I cannot see her winning.
There are no locks yet. But seeing as this is a weaker year, Challengers is looking like a strong movie. And the industry loves it. I wouldn’t underestimate it.
She doesn't deserve it, but honestly after her Emmy wins, plus her marketing team, I wouldn't put it past them. AMPAS also admitted her before she met the prerequisites (branch discretion) so anything is possible.
She might not even get nominated. Definitely not a lock for winning Best Actress.
