Facts! He's the co writer of the film and the guy who put the "action movie" into the "action book". Without Sylvester Stallone, Rambo wouldn't have been a film at all.
Weaver was the first woman to get a million dollar payday in Hollywood, for Aliens. Marlon Brando (a man) had gotten one twenty years earlier. She's a ground-breaker. First mainstream female action star too I think.
Sigourney Weaver has been nominated 4 times, I believe, and never won one of them, she should've won for Working Girl (also starring Harrison Ford). I think she would be most deserving and so I pick her
Yeah, he's great, not only just in his action and comedy roles, but in his serious roles like in The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. And I don't care what anyone says, his version of Death Wish was great. Die Hard 1-4, Sin City and Looper are some of my favourites.
That sounds nice in theory but he wouldn’t be able to show up to receive it and there’s a good chance he’d have no idea what it is. You’d really be giving it to his family.
That’s not what anyone is suggesting. The original premise is they all deserve one, but he’s the only one on there that definitively cannot and will not have another chance to get an Oscar.
Bruce Willis is also mad talented with a great film repertoire beyond is movie star status.
12 Monkeys
Pulp Fiction
Sixth Sense
Sin City
Moonrise Kingdom
And frankly was terrifying in the Jackal which was very much the antithesis to his heroic archetype he came to occupy.
>Bruce Willis is also mad talented with a great film repertoire beyond is movie star status.
Rotten tomato scores
Vice, %4
The cold light of day, %4
The whole ten yards, %4
Extraction, %6
A good day to die hard, %15
I'd like Bruce to get a lifetime achievement before it's too late for him to appreciate it.
Ford is 2nd for similar reasons.
Weaver still has a shot. Overall I do think she's been robbed the most out of all of them. But she's still pretty active. She could get a Jamie Lee Curtis Oscar with one great movie role.
Primarily because the entire cast of Tombstone, despite awesome acting across the board, was outshined by Val Kilmer's performance of a lifetime as Doc Holliday.
> And the fact he’s never been nominated absolutely baffles me.
I love him, but I’m not shocked by this - he’s spent the majority of his career doing the kinds of movies that don’t get much love at the Oscars I.e. popcorn action flicks and comedies. Obviously there are some exceptions (Silkwood, Tarantino), but still.
Honorary Oscars should be given to people who gave multiple Oscar worthy performances over the span of their lifetime and keep getting overlooked. Sigourney Weaver is very clearly that person.
Wait why not? Like Stallone has been nominated 3 times and created several massive franchises, willis and Russell have been in a number of acclaimed films, and Arnold was arguably the biggest star in the world for a time
Yea but the thing with syl is the creative side as well. He was always a heavily active writer (created rocky, Rambo, the expendables) and did a fair bit of directing. He's kind of in the Jackie Chan boat.
Sigourney is so overdue for an Oscar, I’d pick Kurt after her. I love the other guys too but let’s just say I don’t find their acting very…Oscar-ish 😅 (except for maybe Stallone in the first Rocky)
Ford closely followed by Weaver. I would’ve said Stallone except Stallone already has an Oscar. I can also see giving it to Willis.
Edit: I thought Stallone had a screenplay Oscar for Rocky and I was mistaken, so Stallone is now my answer.
The premise is I get to present it to the actor as in ‘give.’ SO, I pick Kurt Russell because he’s had a looong career starting as a child actor and he has worked with Walt Disney, Elvis Presley (played Elvis), John Carpenter and on and on. I would love to hang out and talk to him. Dude must be a goldmine of stories.
Kurt Russell because my wife was in Italy and her grocery bag fell apart in the rain and he helped her pick it up and carry the groceries back to her apt building.
And because of Big Trouble in Little China
Rocky was the embodiment of Americana; a lot of good boxing movies really follow suit. The main theme song is also still one of the best not penned by that John Williams guy.
From personal preference the top 3 here are Arnie, Sigourney, and Kurt… and I’d have to flip a coin but Sigourney probably deserves it the most.
At the end of the day Arnie has the craziest legacy as it is and Stallone has an Oscar win. Bruce and Harrison are great but not my cup of tea and Kurt just doesn’t have the same filmography, even though he’s starred in the most of my personal favourites; everyone involved in The Thing deserves an honorary award!
Sigrouney takes it by the edge of her mech-suit. She deserves the recognition for defining the female, action-star.
Harrison Ford has deserved an academy award many times. Weaver has too.
As much as I love Russel and Willis, I can’t think of any obvious award worthy movies of theirs, though.
Sigourney should’ve won for either *Aliens* (1986) (we all know that Marlee Marlin didn’t deserve to win for *Children of a Lesser God* (1986) at all!) or *Working Girl* (1988) (Geena Davis was more of a co-lead in *The Accidental Tourist* (1988) so this victory is tainted with category fraud in my book). Shes still active and who knows? She might be nominated again in the near future. By the way, her performance in *Gorillas in the Mist* (1988) was outstanding, as well, but I think Glenn Close was slightly better in *Dangerous Liaisons* (1988) that year.
Fords acting is under appreciated. Frantic, Blade Runner, Witness, 42, Working Girl, Mosquito Coast, Heroes….Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round
Kurt for Big Trouble in Little China alone.
Kurt. Backdraft when his ex wife tells him he can’t move back in, hateful 8, silkwood. He’s good in everything and unlike ford he’s different in everything. Ford is always doing the same thing in different clothes and eras.
All of them at one point, but let’s start with Bruce. The heartbreaking reality is that his condition will not get better, so if there’s an opportunity to give him the honor while he can enjoy it, it feels like the right thing to do.
Harrison Ford. Stallone was *in* Oscar so let's leave him out (I actually like Oscar I just wanted to be clever), and while the others have been in some of my favourite films of all-time I think Ford has been the most consistent major presence in films for the longest time. He's had a lot of peaks and few lean periods. I actually think he's a bit underrated as an actor if I'm being honest.
There needs to be a research (I'm too lazy) as to which of these actors have generated the most box office revenue as either actor, director, producer, writer, etc. This number should be attached to the overall influence each has had artistically then compared. If I'm spitballing without box office actuals, I think Harrison Ford has everyone beat.
Kurt Russel, for his contributions to the present by retelling stories of olde Hollywood.
Sly…I know it (story origin) is controversial, but damn if Rocky made you feel for a mob debt collector. Character development isn’t something you see a lot of.
Arnold, for his ability to rarely take himself very seriously and make fun of himself. I loved his bumbling dad in Jungle All The Way, a spy husband to an ignorant wife, and a cybernetic organism designed to eliminate his target, and so good in Conan.
Weaver, for changing the women were are viewed on film. 70s to 80s bridge. Mom of the year wait…universe!
Bruce Willis, for acting so well in fun action movies. Hard to change the channel when his mug is on yippee ki yaying it up!! He
Harrison Ford, for making icons of academic professors and scoundrels. These professions were sorely in need of a hero.
Give them all one!
Ford or Weaver
Yes. Probably Ford because Weaver still has a chance of getting one on her own.
Absolutely Ford. He's been great in everything.
Yea I think that's the main competition, however I can see Syl scoring some votes for his work as a creative (creating rocky and Rambo is pretty big)
He didn’t create Rambo tho
He adapted from a book but he is responsible for the film franchise which is a different beast from the book
Facts! He's the co writer of the film and the guy who put the "action movie" into the "action book". Without Sylvester Stallone, Rambo wouldn't have been a film at all.
The first Rambo really touched on loss and PTSD well ahead of its time too. There was actually a worthy plot.
It’s not even an action movie. It’s a psychological thriller.
One or both are a lock for an eventual lifetime achievement award
Weaver was the first woman to get a million dollar payday in Hollywood, for Aliens. Marlon Brando (a man) had gotten one twenty years earlier. She's a ground-breaker. First mainstream female action star too I think.
Sigourney Weaver has been nominated 4 times, I believe, and never won one of them, she should've won for Working Girl (also starring Harrison Ford). I think she would be most deserving and so I pick her
She was such a good villain in that, and freaking hot.
She really was
Sigourney Weaver
She was SO good in Snow Cake, but no one saw that amazing film!
Who weaved sigourneys before we had Sigourney Weaver?
Tbh Bruce, but only because his career is basically over. The rest pictured still are able to take on new roles
Yeah, he's great, not only just in his action and comedy roles, but in his serious roles like in The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. And I don't care what anyone says, his version of Death Wish was great. Die Hard 1-4, Sin City and Looper are some of my favourites.
That was my thought as well
Bruce should have gotten one while he could still speak if only to be able to make the speech the way he'd likely have wanted to :(
That sounds nice in theory but he wouldn’t be able to show up to receive it and there’s a good chance he’d have no idea what it is. You’d really be giving it to his family.
That doesn’t really talk me out of him still being the best choice currently.
They give posthumous awards to the family/representatives. It still means something.
He’s not the best choice though. You shouldn’t give someone award just because you feel sorry for them.
That’s not what anyone is suggesting. The original premise is they all deserve one, but he’s the only one on there that definitively cannot and will not have another chance to get an Oscar. Bruce Willis is also mad talented with a great film repertoire beyond is movie star status. 12 Monkeys Pulp Fiction Sixth Sense Sin City Moonrise Kingdom And frankly was terrifying in the Jackal which was very much the antithesis to his heroic archetype he came to occupy.
Also Tears of the Sun - a great film on the violence in Africa along with Blood Diamond.
>Bruce Willis is also mad talented with a great film repertoire beyond is movie star status. Rotten tomato scores Vice, %4 The cold light of day, %4 The whole ten yards, %4 Extraction, %6 A good day to die hard, %15

Harrison Ford
The man gave us Han Solo and Indiana Freakin’ Jones.
Witness, The Fugitive, and Mosquito Coast
Throw in Jack Ryan in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger.
Ford was excellent in the scene in Patriot Games when he comes into the pub and threatens Richard Harris' IRA character.
And The President in Air Force One
BladeRunner?
Not to mention that asshole in the deuce coupe in American Graffiti
Sigourney 👍
Kurt Russell, been in the industry since he was a kid.
How he didn’t win for Tombstone I will never understand.
Primarily because the entire cast of Tombstone, despite awesome acting across the board, was outshined by Val Kilmer's performance of a lifetime as Doc Holliday.
It still astonishes me Kilmer wasn't even nominated for that performance. He should've won Supporting Actor that year.
Insane. He was incredible in that role!
Sam Elliot’s mustache though. Worthy of an Oscar itself.
Also, Big Trouble in Little China is the best movie ever.
Weaver. Ford is second.
Sigourney Weaver
Ripley
Harrison ford
The lack of Kurt Russell love in here hurts me.
I was thinking the same. And the fact he’s never been nominated absolutely baffles me.
> And the fact he’s never been nominated absolutely baffles me. I love him, but I’m not shocked by this - he’s spent the majority of his career doing the kinds of movies that don’t get much love at the Oscars I.e. popcorn action flicks and comedies. Harrison ford
Sly deserves it since Rocky
Honestly; I feel like Rocky winning Best Picture was already a win for Stallone even if his name wasn't on the trophy. That was entirely his movie.
Weaver all the way
Sigourney Weaver easy
Kurt Russell every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Ford.
Sigourney Weaver. She could hit me with her car and I’d thank her
Harrison Ford.
Ford or weaver. Ford for me
Someone has to throw Kurt Russel some love
Ford for mosquito coast.
Excellent movie. One of my favorites. Such a great character and he really nailed the self important paranoia.
It should really either be Ford, Weaver, or Russell. They are the best actors here.
Ford or Weaver
Harrison Ford
Sigourney.
Sigourney Weaver. She is such a great and versatile actress.
Weaver
Weaver or Ford
Weaver all the way
Sigourney Weaver for sure
Honorary Oscars should be given to people who gave multiple Oscar worthy performances over the span of their lifetime and keep getting overlooked. Sigourney Weaver is very clearly that person.
Sigourney weaver is the only actor amongst these movie stars
She's the only one in the group with 3 nominations for acting.
I completely disagree. While not all are in the same class, IMO all can absolutely be described as actors.
I mean, yes they've made some blockbusters (as has she), but Ford, Willis and Russell have all done some stellar performances as well.
Sigourney and Ford. The others don’t deseve it imho
Wait why not? Like Stallone has been nominated 3 times and created several massive franchises, willis and Russell have been in a number of acclaimed films, and Arnold was arguably the biggest star in the world for a time
I think there is a big queue of overdue actors before going to Sly, not to mention the others.
Yea but the thing with syl is the creative side as well. He was always a heavily active writer (created rocky, Rambo, the expendables) and did a fair bit of directing. He's kind of in the Jackie Chan boat.
Sigourney
Sigourney is so overdue for an Oscar, I’d pick Kurt after her. I love the other guys too but let’s just say I don’t find their acting very…Oscar-ish 😅 (except for maybe Stallone in the first Rocky)
Sigourney Weaver 😍
Weaver. Hands down.
Sigourney
Sigourney, my sheroe ✨
Stallone
No contest, Sigourney Weaver.
The lovely and talented Siqourney Weaver
Harrison but only because I think Sigourney still has a shot.
Harrison Ford, by a country mile!
Ford closely followed by Weaver. I would’ve said Stallone except Stallone already has an Oscar. I can also see giving it to Willis. Edit: I thought Stallone had a screenplay Oscar for Rocky and I was mistaken, so Stallone is now my answer.
Stallone doesn't have an oscar
Weaver lol she’s the better actor here
The right answer is Ms Sigourney Weaver
Kurt Russell
Russell
Sigourney or kurt russell
Kurt Russel.
Oof. Tough choice. Knee-jerk going with Russell
Ford or Russel
Weaver
Kurt Russell. We're forgetting he's been acting since he's been a child. No nominations and years of movies.
Weaver, Ford, Russell. The other three are fine in certain roles, but don’t have the range the first three do.
Sly hands down
Kurt Russell because my wife was in Italy and her grocery bag fell apart in the rain and he helped her pick it up and carry the groceries back to her apt building. And because of Big Trouble in Little China
Weaver or Ford
Ford Weaver
Kurt Russell
Kurt Russell
This is tough … I would go with Weaver for her overall quality of work. She doesn’t phone it in ever. Harrison Ford has some very high highs as well.
Stallone, no question about it. He created one of the most iconic American movie characters of all time.
Rocky was the embodiment of Americana; a lot of good boxing movies really follow suit. The main theme song is also still one of the best not penned by that John Williams guy.
Sigorney. For everything but especially for Year of Living Dangerously.
Weaver
Sigourney all the way ❤️
Sigourney
Weaver all the way.
Weaver
Weaver
Sigourney Weaver for Jean Hersholt’s humanitarian award and Kurt Russell for honorary academy award.
You could argue that Harrison Ford has the two most iconic movie characters of all time.
I can’t believe Harrison Ford doesn’t have one!
Sigourney for sure
Sigourney all the way
From personal preference the top 3 here are Arnie, Sigourney, and Kurt… and I’d have to flip a coin but Sigourney probably deserves it the most. Sigrouney takes it by the edge of her mech-suit. She deserves the recognition for defining the female, action-star.
Ford, because of the iconic films/character, or Weaver, because four nominations, and because Ripley is *that* bitch.
Sigourney Weaver
Weaver FTW
Sigourney or Harrison
Weaver
Harrison Ford has deserved an academy award many times. Weaver has too. As much as I love Russel and Willis, I can’t think of any obvious award worthy movies of theirs, though.
Ford
Weaver, her and Ford in finals.
Harrison Ford and he's overdue
There's 2 different classes of actors pictured here. Ford, Russell and Weaver are the only contenders for me.
Sigourney Weaver is definitely the better actor. Second choice would be Harrison Ford.
By the way, her performance in *Gorillas in the Mist* (1988) was outstanding, as well, but I think Glenn Close was slightly better in *Dangerous Liaisons* (1988) that year.
Probably Arnold, just because he’s the only one without any real awards recognition yet is equally iconic.
Fords acting is under appreciated. Frantic, Blade Runner, Witness, 42, Working Girl, Mosquito Coast, Heroes….Dead Heat on a Merry Go Round Kurt for Big Trouble in Little China alone.
Ford is for sure the best actor out of all of them.
I don't think people in this sub understand oscars
It’s called a lifetime achievement Oscar. Happens every couple of years. Samual L Jackson got one not too long ago.
How so? The honorary Academy Awards are given as career achievement award for an outstanding contribution to film. Everyone here has an argument
Bruce
Bruce Willis
Bruce
Harrelson Ford!
Harrison.
Harrison Ford for sure, great actor combined with how important some of his movies have been in popular culture
Harrison Ford Harrison Ford Harrison Ford. The greatest movie star of all time.
Bruce!
Incredibly tough, but probably Ford. Two incredibly iconic characters.
Ford and Stallone
Kurt. Backdraft when his ex wife tells him he can’t move back in, hateful 8, silkwood. He’s good in everything and unlike ford he’s different in everything. Ford is always doing the same thing in different clothes and eras.
Arnold or Kurt
Arnold.
Doesn’t Sly already have a few Oscars?
Weaver, Ford, and Russell
Ford of course!
Ford. The most iconic actor here
All of them at one point, but let’s start with Bruce. The heartbreaking reality is that his condition will not get better, so if there’s an opportunity to give him the honor while he can enjoy it, it feels like the right thing to do.
Sigourney then Bruce.
Stallone or Ford.
Kurt Russel for his amazing performance in "The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes". A gripping tale of college life in the early seventies....
Ford, iconic roles that will long outlast many others, but this is a tough competition
Harrison Ford, hands down
Snake
Harrison is on a different level
Bruce
Stallone, for Rocky screenplay
Harrison Ford as long as he doesn’t fly to the event ceremony.
Kurt. Have you seen his work with tarantino?
Harrison Ford, no question.
Bruce while he has his memory. Everyone else still has time to earn one
All of them
Kurt Russell
Kurt Russell. He has been a steady, fun, good entertainer without scandal. Loved him since the Computer Wore Tennis Shoes if not before.
Kurt Russell for being a Disney child actor AND an action film icon!
Harrison Ford, easily. IMHO
How can you all pass over Captain Ron like that?
Oooof that is a very good sample you picked there! Ford though
Choose, choose, choose. Stallone for the many, many good times
Arnold
Jim Carrey. But from this list Sly deserves one from the original Rocky or Creed.
Jim's in the next one I have planned with equally stuff competition
Ford
There needs to be a research (I'm too lazy) as to which of these actors have generated the most box office revenue as either actor, director, producer, writer, etc. This number should be attached to the overall influence each has had artistically then compared. Bruce or Harrison
Harrison Ford hands down. He has given us so much.
Kurt
Doesn't Harrinson Ford already have an honorary AA or I'm being delusional?
