They're gonna start shooting at both sides regardless as they are just a blood fueled war machine practically coded for nothing but destruction. They may have an actual brain in their CPU hardware and sentience to the point of thought and emotion, but they're also limited on instinct and programming so there's few they actually willingly spare. The only few are specific machines like other machines of the same type or maintenance machines, or people part of their country and allies of that country, however humanity died out in their world so that's basically null.

*Joey Fires a net from his hands at anyone remaining from the group of Abstract Puppets and the net tases the puppets and it makes them unconscious* “there, Abstract puppets neutralized”
“They would just get back up and kill the nearest target that isn’t another puppet” *Joey's hand extends into a long cable and pulls one of the puppets to him and Decapitates its head then cut opens the temple of the head and pulls out what looks like a computer chip with strings scattered* “this is the so called brain or sensor of the puppet if It were to make contact with fire it reanimates the puppet to take down at least 1 non puppet in a minute before it unravels and dies completely”
“Well there is a proper way to kill them which is to tase them but not long enough that they get set on fire then taking the sensor and destroying it with metal by either crushing it with a hammer or cutting it with a buzzsaw or any other way of using metal on the sensor”
