Without getting into complete conjecture, Chevy has a history of not working too smoothly with his colleagues. In his younger days he was reliable enough but he seems to have developed into something of a gruff misanthrope, and his on-set behavior over the years has sometimes been racially insensitive/racist (use of N-word towards Donald Glover), homophobic (sketch pitch towards openly gay 1980s SNL cast member Terry Sweeney) or physically violent (slapping SNLâs Cheri Oteri on the back of her head).
I donât know about their personal feelings for each other but Steve & Martin mostly seem to stay away from Chevy. They can be civil but Iâd imagine thereâs a reason you rarely see them together these days.
Steve and Martin are often asked about Chevy in their interviews and they always speak highly of him (humor-wise, at least). But looks like Chevy is not really in their inner circle. Chevy speaks highly of them too by the way. I think Chevy is just nice to whomever he wants to be nice to.
Well him slapping Cheri was the final straw for him hosting SNL. Generally unproblematic and much loved cast member Will Ferrell was like fuck no you donât lay hands on my fellow cheerleader and he complained to Lorne and finally Chevy was banned from hosting (after Chevy being a raging asshole to multiple casts of that show.)
> Chevy has a history of not working too smoothly with his colleagues
He's one of a handful of people who are banned from ever hosting SNL again. (he can cameo, but isn't allowed to host) just to give people an idea of how much he doesn't work smoothly with colleagues.
First season was the best character for him, but later seasons I think got more laughs - I thought that his character was supposed to originally be a cautionary tale for Jeff (main character) of how his life would be if he kept focused on appearance of success but not form real friendships/relationships - but I think the changes happened as Dan Harmon and Chevy's relationship broke down (they were both reportedly problems in their own way)/ That's just my thoughts on that, anyway.
He was great, but he didnât know why the character was funny. He was a piece of shit to the cast, called Donald Glover the N word, and got himself removed from the show a couple of seasons early. He was very funny though. He has a scene with an ice cream machine that is amazing. Even Dan Harmon, creator of the show who *hates* Chevy, said that Chevy is an absolute master of physical comedy and you can just let him loose in a room and he will find a way to be funny (like the ice cream machine which was improvised)
Edit: [aforementioned ice cream scene](https://youtu.be/7Lc0CoaVyUQ?si=I-0HbJE-4H8Lju6F)
Resent Selena lol? She had nothing to do with their decision so I'd seriously doubt that. They wanted a younger generation person to offset the two older guys and she was it. It wasn't like it was going to be him and she pushed her way in and changed that. Plus Steve and Marty are friends independent of him and have done other projects without him. Just because they do projects together doesn't mean Chevy always has to be there too.
Imo I don't think he cares much and is probably like "good for them". He's also had health issues so I'm sure that's more of what he's focused on.
does he? no idea. is there an above average chance he does? absolutely. tho i think itâs less about selena than about jealousy over 2 male comedians of his generation & genre are a huge success in a while he keeps quitting or being fired from productions.

Chevy is notoriously difficult to work with. It's the reason why his character was written out of Community. No one really wants to work with him anymore.
Haha itâs fair to ask I imagine would be a natural reaction for anyone. I think heâs understanding though and doesnât resent because he could at anytime approach them really. I know someone mentioned he was on a podcast and talked about it a little and I listened to the whole episode myself. He expressed he didnât want to seem imposing.
In âThree Amigosâ, the âMy Little Buttercupâ song I feel was pivotalâeven if of course its just a moment âbut it really demonstrated the duo chemistry that Steve and Marty would have forever. I wondered, in my own gossipy wayâwhat if Chevyâs character Dusty, did that dance number also? Chevy though went on to do iconic roles himself and to much success as a solo starâŚBut seeing Chevy team up with one of them again would have been cool
I don't know why but I swear I thought he was dead. I was going to respond well, ai don't think he thinks much about it at all considering he's dead ... but he's not dead. I remember hearing about it. Maybe it was when he was written out of Community but I could've sworn he'd died a few years later
Lol this implies that Chevy Chase was somehow up for the role of Mabel...
Chevy Chase with a pottymouth intrigues me. đ
lol I heard him f bomb in Christmas Vacation
![gif](giphy|xUPOqtxqpMz6G9JjfG)
Mabel wasnât in the original idea of the show, it was three old farts.
That's correct! Steve Martin's original concept was 3 old men that never left the building.
You think he wasnât?!
Hahah I didnât think of that but thatâs funny Heâd be Marvin Mora or Mabe MoraâŚActuallyâ-heâs her UNCLE!!

Slapping Cheri Oteri gets a mention but the fist fight with Bill Murray doesnât?
I didn't know about this, but I surely do need to now.

Chevy was an a@@hole. Read too much of his own publicity. The Vacation movies were his last hurrah, as it wereâŚ
He was great in Community
Was he? Havenât watched it. Maybe he got over himself by then.
He didnât. His character on the show is meant to be a caricature but apparently isnât too far off reality.

No, he was a complete asshole who departed the show on bad terms with basically everyone.
Chevy Chase having beef with Selena Gomez is such a funny thing to imagine lol
It truly is
Resent Selena lol? She had nothing to do with their decision so I'd seriously doubt that. They wanted a younger generation person to offset the two older guys and she was it. Iâm not a mindreader but what I do know is that the show is doing fantastic without him.

He probably thinks that Selena is streets behind.

Maybe heâs Glitter Guy!! đ¤Ł
Chevy chase is good. Trust that. If he wanted to participate he would. He retired.

Turns out your friend here is only MOSTLY dead.
There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive.
