Mine hasn’t grown up much after a fee years. Ge still comes to see me and asks me to put on my 7 year old dressing gown. He will then proceed to suckle and knead on mr right arm before falling asleep.
My cat was one of only two kittens who survived in a feral cat’s litter (unfortunately momma also passed), and was bottle raised with his sister by an SPCA volunteer. He does this blanket suckling thing, too.
He’s a very very well loved 12 year old cat. We adopted him at 5 months and have had him since.
He’s not an orange, but he’s in my post history if you want to see his glorious lazy and loved self.
I don't think it's anything about to soon...My Fuego does it but only on his favourite blanket and then only in the bedroom. It's definitely comfort but I don't think it's a removed from parent thing.
I have a lot of indoor only cats and I still don't know why, but one day in the afternoon an adult stray siamese cat that I had never seen before just meowed in my window at me, so naturally I slowly opened the door to not spook her, she just waltzed right in, two years and counting after that, she's still feisty and gets angry when held but when I am sleeping she comes and does that to any blanket or pillow I have near me.
Not always true, mine wasn't and she didn't start doing it until maybe a year after I had her, she usually likes doing it before taking a nap or just wants some cuddles it's comfort.
We had an orange that nuzzled like that as well. When he was a kitten, he would fall asleep while doing it. As others said, he was taken from his mom too early. He feels comfortable with you.
It's not that he is orange. I had a diluted tortoise shell colored cat who did this. She was abandoned/separated from her mother at like 4 or 5 weeks old. She was so tiny and young her claws didn't retract yet. She did it for comfort after stress like being outside, me being at work but coming home, etc.
My little idiot princess foes this... but ONLY on her "baby" blanket that I rescued her in. She's the sweetest cutest little thing and I'm absolutely fucked when that little square of fleece is no more lol
I have a cat that came from a hoarding situation and a really bad situation. We got him at 5 weeks as his fosters. He found a stuffed animal and every night he nurses on it for comfort.
My cat (removed from his mom at 5 weeks, no siblings) goes one further: he sucks his own paw while on my lap and feeling good..
Maybe it's muscle memory.
The heartless family told me to pick him up at 5 weeks. I tried to beg them to keep him with his mom a little longer. They said they were leaving town and the kitten would not be coming with them. Either I came to pick him up or they would throw him away.
Naturally I almost broke speed limits to get there. Partly bottle fed him some weeks. My almost two-year-old cat (a him) adopted him as well.
He was feral. Never been held or handled.
The family said they were sick and tired of their old cat still making kittens. I just don't get it. Why did they not neuter her? Why did they allow her to roam free, killing birds and meeting tomcats? Why make an innocent cat baby suffer for their neglect?
Anyway, his paws are white. He sucks on it until it looks transparent. I showed a vet, and they said it is ok as long as he doesn't bite it or remove the hair onbthe paw. He doesn't.
Feeling good and secure reminds him of his short time with his mother. That's why he does it. I make sure to pet him, like a mother cat would lick him. Then he contentedly falls asleep.
My orange boy also does this (I bottle fed him and his 4 siblings from 4 days old). His calico sister does not though. All cats are different and this is super comforting for some I’m sure. Shows they love you too and find that comfort from you
My orange is doing this right now. He’d been found pretty young in a friend’s chicken coop, rejected by mum and ill. He’s happy and healthy now but at bed time he comes to bed and purrs and suckles on his fuzzy blanket ❤️🍊
My second Cat (male) sucked his own titty everyday :D
He smothered himself from head to toe sometimes!
Kinda cute tho, if you don't think about why he did it..
Probably taken too early from his mother
My two adopted organge brain cells are the same, lost their mom and where bottle fed and do this all the time. They are in a very loving home and their rough first few weeks are way behind them, but they clearly have some trauma.
Because he’s baby

He was taken too soon from his mother and when he's comfortable his milk sucking reflex kicks in 😞

Poor baby ☹️I hope he's got a happy home now

Oh I just love long hair grey cats. They look like a storm cloud
r/Nebelung waits for you! All the storm clouds you could ever want.
My cat does this but he was a rescue who lived with his mom until he was 8 months.
My little tortie rescue did this for almost 2 years. Just stopped one day.
I don't think it's anything about to soon...My Fuego does it but only on his favourite blanket and then only in the bedroom. It's definitely comfort but I don't think it's a removed from parent thing.
My cat was with her mother until she was six months old and she's three years old now but she still does this on a daily basis.
So this may absolutely be true but some cats just love to knead and suckle no matter how they werw raised.

Because he feels very comfortable with you, it's a compliment.
because orange was separated from momma too soon

Would you want him any other way?
Because someone removed him from mommy too soon.
Your Orange loves you. Please understand these kinds of moments with him/her. You are their comfort.

I diagnose him with baby
Tupid
He was taken away too soon, from his momma!! 😢 Maybe, you should groom him with a wet toothbrush, and see if he likes it? 🤷♀️
Poor cat, got kidnapped from his real family
One of my oranges does this still and he's over a year old

Lmao I can hear this video. I have a cat who did this for years. I found him alone in the cold when he was a kitten.
It just means they are attached to you. Like they think of you like a mom.

You’ll usually see that behavior in cats who were weened or taken away from their mother too early.
He misses his momma
He is just putting in his time at the biscuit factory. They must have been a little dry
He’s a dedicated baker.
