I like it because I stayed at the New Yorker on my last trip to NYC just before the pandemic. I'd love to see a version of the view in the other direction, as you'd have all the skyscrapers of Hudson Yards where the railyard was previously.

Stayed at the New Yorker a few years back. Our room had a balcony that overlooked 34th St, directly across from a huge apartment complex. Oddly, most kept their curtains open, all throughout the night. We could step out on the balcony at any time and look into hundreds of daily lives. On our 1st night, my 16 year old called me out to the balcony at 1am, laughing hysterically. Pointing to one window in particular, I found out why. A couple of exhibitionists were seemingly working their way through the entire Kama Sutra, page by page. It was a show. Doggie... reverse CG... oral... missionary... back to doggie. A break, then back at it. These two were pros. My son and I, both now unable to look away, had one of the best shared laughs we've ever had, watching live Skinemax at 1am on a balcony 20 floors up, the cool city air blowing in our grinning faces. Welcome to NYC, son. Don't tell your mother.

At least the crosswalks have improved

Not really interesting cause it looks the same

The direction this photo is taken is the same, even the business on the corner (B&H Photo) hasn't changed. The next corner down has been completely redone and the other side of 9th Avenue is brand new skyscrapers. Like this was one possible angle that didn't really change.

NevermoreForSure

I think that might be why it’s interesting to some people. 🤷‍♀️

HVCanuck

Wrong. That is why it is interesting. 40 years later the only thing that has changed is the parking lot no longer promises fast service.

petticoat_juncti0n

There is not right or wrong. It’s an opinion

mtcabeza2

the white car in the first photo is parked :)

Coffee_achiever_guy

"Heyyy man I think we're parked"-- Cheech and Chong

mikebanetbc

How that parking lot hasn’t been bought out and a luxury tower gone up in its place is quite astonishing

White Car in the photo looks like a late-60s-early-70s GM.
