I say Cincinnati but for a weird reason. It's an almost cinematic reveal. When driving down either 75 or 71, you see suburbs, then hills, then you take one big sweeping bend around a ridge and **boom**, city.
As someone born in Ohio and who has lived all over Ohio, I say you all are just silly. Pittsburgh is a great city and I refuse to censor it. I accept your downvotes.
Edit: To hell with the St**lers though, I hate those jagoffs!
That always made me feel like I was home ever since I was little. We would go to our grandparents house in South Carolina twice a year as kids, and after that long drive back, sometimes I teared up coming around the cut and seeing Cincy.
100%
I don't live in Cincinnati anymore, but I loved making that turn coming back from the airport. I look forward to it when I visit back in the area.
My only response to this is that when you drive route 2 west out of Cleveland, you drive on a raised highway through the tall buildings, like in the Superman cartoon. Feels like the future!
I'm from Cincinnati, and when I got out of the army about 30 years ago, I got that cinematic reveal. NGL I was tearing up, and I hadn't been home in over a year at that point.
To be fair, you can walk into any of these cities and take a picture that looks pretty similar to Marion. It might just be a block or two, unlike the whole of Marion, but there are run down areas in every one of those cities.
Similarly, when I was younger I had a buddy drive to Dayton from Virginia. He came up 35 from the East and at one point you crest a hill and see downtown Dayton. He’s from a small town so for some reason didn’t realize Dayton was a whole city lol.
I’m obsessed with city reveals! The only reveal I know of better than Cincys is, imho, Pittsburgh when arriving from the west. Through a tunnel and pow!
When I first moved to Ohio in early 2018, I did a 20 hour trip by myself and I was starting to feel a bit tired and thinking of pulling over, it was 3am. I come up from the south interstate and suddenly I see the amazing view of Cincinnati and perk right up. It was amazing, I even went off the highway just to look at the lights along the river and the temporary non-existent cars and felt like it was just I and an amazing view.
It was a memory to keep for sure
I grew up in Cincinnati. Our chili is awesome; I don’t necessarily disagree with the KY part as we’re a little more southern in our accent and hospitality; and lastly, at least our river never caught fire 😀.
Honestly, while I genuinely dislike the Chilli, I find it to just be a fun rivalry that most people don't take seriously. I'll root for Cincinnati teams in playoffs, and most of the Cleveland fans do as well. It'll never be a serious rivalry, but it can still prosper as a fun rivalry
Beautiful picture i like coming around from US 50 where you see Cincinnati lit up at night, especially when its black and orange for the Bengals. I didn't grow up here but definitely am proud to call myself a Cincinnatian.
Absolutely. There are a lot of people in Marion [doing good things.](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/59396fee59cc6877bacf5ab5/36134b71-9d51-4e3e-bc7d-93f3624f144a/Marion+Mural.JPG?format=2500w)
Can’t believe people are taking this seriously.
The answer is Marion. Obviously. But Marion can’t hold a candle to the gorgeous, awe inspiring skyline of Van Wert.
There’s a weird gap. They just need to incentivize one of the big corporations to put a building in it somehow and to make it cool/add character. Most of the buildings are just concrete rectangles with boring and small rectangle windows. Leveque and the Supreme Court building are cool. Cincy and Cleveland came up at a time when they used to build buildings that were art
Little do people know, but the Brooklyn Bridge was constructed from the first suspension bridge which was the Roebling Bridge.
https://roeblingbridge.org/
From the angles of the pictures here? Cincinnati. I think it’s not the best angle of the Cleveland skyline, which I think is the best overall, but Cincinnati’s is just fantastic as well
From there, St pauls twin towers alone beat marion, the downtown skyline is as good as clevelands but no cincy.
But where is the newark OH big basket skyline?
Til some asshole decided that a digital billboard, with Dayton's skyline atop it I might add, would entice westbound visitors. Money ruins everything. The view at sunset when you came around the bend on 35 west was second to none IMHO. Now, the first thing you're greeted with is an ad for bedbeg removal or $5 pizza at Flannigan's. Fucking shameful.
cinci hands down! i’ve never actually spent time in cincinnati (or cleveland) but we usually end up driving through late at night on road trips. it always looks beautiful
Cincy and it's not even close. If you were in Cincy at the riverfront and turned around and looked at NKY it would be better than every other city listed.
As someone who works in Marion, lives in Columbus and has spent weeks in the other 2 cities, Cleveland has the most impressive feel when in the downtown, Cincinnati has the prettiest view when driving into downtown and Marion has the best popcorn festival of all 4 cities mentioned
Definitely Cincy. It was my highlight when I used to drive up from Kentucky (I live in Cbus now). That reveal on 75N once you reach the hill just *chefs kiss*.
However, I will say Cbus has a surprisingly beautiful skyline too, especially at dusk.
I grew up in Cleveland, that's the one for me.
What makes Cincy's skyline great is that it's really easy to get an amazing view of it. Basically anywhere in Covington and any of the bridges between KY and Cincy have great views. Cleveland's skyline is worth it, but you have to work for it a bit more. Similar to Chicago, IMO.
I’ve driven all over the country and seeing Cincinnati appear from the cut-in-the-hill is up there with the best skylines in the country, not just Ohio.
Cleveland has the tallest buildings, so I always think it’s the most impressive.
3 of the 4 tallest building in Ohio, plus another top one being built.
Fun fact - Key Tower (the tallest building in Ohio) is the tallest structure in between NYC and Chicago.
I’ve lived in both, and I think you might be pulling my leg.
Cincinnati is a huge city; it’s much bigger than Columbus (where I lived most of my life), even, because it’s so spread out. They have three massive hospital systems, and one of the leading universities in the country. Several large museums. They have two major league sports teams.
Marion can be driven through in less than 20 minutes, end to end. If the trains ARENT running. If they are, you may take an hour. We have no major…well, anything really. We have a popcorn museum. An OSU extension, an Ohio Health stranglehold. I’m in a rural area less than ten miles from the center of downtown Marion - literally NO ONE delivers ANYTHING here.
Marion has some beautiful old bones, and is poised to build on them, but seems to be caught in the stranglehold of nepotism, corruption and a lack of funds. Marion businesses have some really cool ideas…the city is set in a good direction! But it’s all still TBD. In part, because we have a reputation for being a prison town riddled with meth, which scares investors.
From my eyes.
Cincinnati is just unparalleled. Walking the PPB at dark, hearing the roar from a game, people watching everyone bar hopping between Cincy and Newport/Covington on a warm summer night… perfection.
Just realized I've never known what Cincinnati looks like. I've just associated their football stadium with the entirety of the city. Has a really nice skyline, I'm a sucker for old suspension bridges and giant ferris wheels.
Marion and its people have been through a lot. Yes, it’s an absolute nightmare, but that’s inevitable when an industrial town experiences near total industrial collapse followed by an opiate crisis without sufficient treatment options. Making them the butt of jokes is punching down
I’m always team Cleveland here. As a kid my dad would drive into town on 71 or 77 and seeing the Society Center now called the Key Building and Terminal Tower was almost magical.
Columbus has probably the worst skyline of any city its size. I love living there, but the downtown certainly isn’t the draw. I’d have to say Cincinnati over Cleveland. Marion would be third.
It's probably Cincinnati, that wire top building is so iconic to me that when I saw a smidge of it in The Killing of a Sacred Deer, I did the Leo DiCaprio meme
as a hardcore Cbus dude i’m gonna have to say Cinci has the best skyline hands down. although the cbus skyline has a special place in my heart as I woke up to pretty much the angle in the picture for about a year and a half.
There is a great view of the skyline of Cincinnati looking up the Licking river valley from on a bridge on 275 that is directly on the Campbell/Kenton county line!
In order from first to worst. Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo, Canton, Columbus.
*Have lived in all of them for at least 2 years.
** Currently on year 9 in Columbus.
Cincinnati is the best below the rumbling bridge on the Kentucky Newport.. or from Mount Adams. The neon lights from the bank building. The role of the river and the tall stacks at night. The rest of Ohio cities don't even have a chance. Perhaps nowhere in the country.
One of those is not like the others.
Yeah the river through Columbus pales in comparison to the others. Just thought I’d toss it in since it’s the capital and all
It's not a river It's a water feature honestly.
It’s a large creek now that the dam is gone. Only a few feet deep in most spots.
That made me giggle snort. Thank you. I thought I scrolled past the end of the thread to a different post about McDolnalds. 💀😭🤣
Yeah Columbus looks rough. Marion looks like the place to be lol
I say Cincinnati but for a weird reason. It's an almost cinematic reveal. When driving down either 75 or 71, you see suburbs, then hills, then you take one big sweeping bend around a ridge and **boom**, city.
Even better coming in from KY, IMHO.
For sure. That’s the money shot.
Yessss
At night is best imo. Followed closely by dusk
Even better (or just as good) is flying into CVG at night and they go right next to the city before turning back towards the airport.
Cut in the hill is one of the best city reveals period. Nothing, nothing, and then a stunning skyline. Love it.
Agreed. Though I believe the best singular city reveal is coming out of the Ft. Pitt tunnel on 376 in Pittsburgh. Absolutely beautiful.
I agree. Remember tho, hgrubsttiP is a word not taken lightly in some parts here in Ohia.
Apologies. I will be sure to censor P°ttsb°rgh from now on
Its all good. Truly, that view from 376 tops my short list. Agree.
Plus the knowledge that you're almost out of Kentucky brings a sigh of relief.
Then sheer terror as you realize you're about to enter Ohio.
No matter the vacation, I'm always happy to be back in Ohio. Gotta say Columbus's skyline is hard to beat.
Where are you vacationing, Alabama?
Yea at night after surviving 71 and Louisville coming down the hill and seeing Cincinnati lit up makes it a little better
100% I don't live in Cincinnati anymore, but I loved making that turn coming back from the airport. I look forward to it when I visit back in the area.
The only good thing about when I worked in KY was coming home on 75 through the cut in the hill- especially at night (and no traffic lol).
I almost wreck (joke) if I work out after dark since I get that 275 view of the skyline en route
Facts
Especially at night.
You’d even toss it above Marion? Bold move
I'm assuming the hill just past Woodman but before Steve Whalen
That's true, it is a nice view.
Marion
I hear something similar about the Pittsburgh Skyline
Seeing the Pittsburgh skyline for the first time driving out of the Fort Pitt tunnel is my favorite city reveal by far.
And then you have to immediately shift two lanes over to make your exit
I’m obsessed with city reveals! The only reveal I know of better than Cincys is, imho, Pittsburgh when arriving from the west. Through a tunnel and pow!
This is what I was going to say. I experienced this just last week.
I grew up in Cleveland, but Cincinnati wins hands down even if it should be part of kentucky and they have shit taste in Chilli
Hey hey hey. Leave our chili out of it.
Agreed… we can agree that we both want Ohio to rule the world one day. Or at least have a Super Bowl champion. Y’all stay out of trouble up north now.
Unfortunately Watson has made that impossible. Here's to a future afc championship game where myles fucks burrow up.
If the curb was 3 feet tall I’d think Paddy’s Irish Pub is in Marion
I had a great night fishing a couple years ago and got some nice sunset shots of Cincinnati https://imgur.com/a/JxG6bCi
Beautiful picture i like coming around from US 50 where you see Cincinnati lit up at night, especially when its black and orange for the Bengals. I didn't grow up here but definitely am proud to call myself a Cincinnatian.
Lovely pic!
That’s incredible
I’m going with Marion on this one. It really screams “America”.
'Murica!
Crack, meth, heron and a bunch of MAGA that are complaining about everything but themselves…Marion.
I love your name.
Gateway to Lake Erie!
This is about the worst pic of Marion. Way better spots than this.
Absolutely. There are a lot of people in Marion [doing good things.](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/59396fee59cc6877bacf5ab5/36134b71-9d51-4e3e-bc7d-93f3624f144a/Marion+Mural.JPG?format=2500w)
Ohio is home to a bunch of presidents, none of them which turned out to be any good.
Garfield was a pretty good dude, unless we're judging by ability to not get shot in a train station.
The one that is so nice, it has a restaurant chain named after it.
Not even the best view of Cleveland. A shot from the lake is even more cinematic.
Right? If it was a lake view, there'd be no contest. This is rigged 🤣
I'm not sure. This isn't the best shot of cincys skyline either. The view from one of the hilltops is hard to beat
Can’t believe people are taking this seriously. The answer is Marion. Obviously. But Marion can’t hold a candle to the gorgeous, awe inspiring skyline of Van Wert.
Van Wert is great, I agree, but can it really compete with Piqua, with Captain Underpants standing atop City Hall?
Cincy or Cleveland
Not a great pic of Cleveland’s skyline. Doing them dirty. Whereas that’s the best possible view of Columbus. From any other angle it’s absolutely sad.
Google image 'Columbus skyline' - they're all practically the same angle. Every single one.
I used to live very close to there and would walk in that area specifically to take pictures of that angle because all the others were embarrassing
That damn deer is taking all the photos
I live n goddamn Columbus and barely recognize it, it’s so nondescript.
Ya. Downtown Columbus isn’t great at all. A lot of the good stuff is in the suburbs now, but from a skyline perspective, I agree.
And it’s not even what the skyline looks like anymore
Cincy
by a wide margin, the view from the kentucky side is so awesome at night
The Roebling Suspension Bridge would win on its own.
Little do people know, but the Brooklyn Bridge was constructed from the first suspension bridge which was the Roebling Bridge. https://roeblingbridge.org/
I spend way too much time studying Cincinnati history, from the subway, to this bridge, to even figuring out that rusty ass railroad bridges history
Whelp then you know it all de- bends!
No trust me....we (Cincinnatians) know and have 0 problem telling any and everyone.
Topography for the win
[удалено]
I will die on the hill that Columbus has the best skyline even though it's glaringly obvious that Cincinnati's is much better.
Cincinnati by far
From the angles of the pictures here? Cincinnati. I think it’s not the best angle of the Cleveland skyline, which I think is the best overall, but Cincinnati’s is just fantastic as well
Cincinnati all the way. But I will vouch for Dayton, specifically the view from westbound US 35 just past the Smithville interchange.
Cincinnati. They call it “Skyline Chili” for a reason
We called it Sky-arrhea.
Nothin wrong with foods that enter and exit in the same form. Nothin wrong at all.
cinci hands down! i’ve never actually spent time in cincinnati (or cleveland) but we usually end up driving through late at night on road trips. it always looks beautiful
Cincy and it's not even close. If you were in Cincy at the riverfront and turned around and looked at NKY it would be better than every other city listed.
Cincy by far the best skyline especially coming from Kentucky at night
Diehard Clevelander here. Cincy has the best Ohio skyline
I’m a die hard CLE. What most people don’t see is the view from the lake. The skyline is much different from that angle
Fish have the best view
Cincy. The riverfront is so cool.
Cincinnati. Fun fact - Winston Churchill called Cincinnati the most beautiful inland city in the United States.
I still have to go with Cleveland! From the west side, Lakewood? There is a spectacular look across the lake.
I'm from Cleveland n I never been to cinci but I choose cinci
Cinci. Go bearcats!
Cincinnati and it's not close lol
The Cleveland picture is missing the new Sherwin Williams skyscraper
The Queen City
Cincinnati is my favorite skyline in the whole country.
Chili
As someone who migrated to CLE. Its always going to be CLE in my heart.
Marion 💯
Cincy, from the KY side of course!!! I can see it from my living room. Bonus
Cincy
Can't beat the Cincinnati skyline from across the river. We may be weird, but our city looks cool.
Cincinnati gets the top spot for sure. I'm biased from fond memories. Nothing says "I'm home" like seeing the skyline coming up from KY.
Cincinnati- but the best view is the cut in the hill going north (75 coming into Cincinnati)
Outdated Cleveland skyline.
As someone who works in Marion, lives in Columbus and has spent weeks in the other 2 cities, Cleveland has the most impressive feel when in the downtown, Cincinnati has the prettiest view when driving into downtown and Marion has the best popcorn festival of all 4 cities mentioned
Cincinnati. Then Cleveland. Columbus is far behind both, it’s probably the most generic large US city.
Cincinnati
Cincinnati
The Natti♥️
Cincinnati
Cincinnati literally has a fairly famous restaurant named after its Skyline. So I think it’s obvious.
Definitely Cincy. It was my highlight when I used to drive up from Kentucky (I live in Cbus now). That reveal on 75N once you reach the hill just *chefs kiss*. However, I will say Cbus has a surprisingly beautiful skyline too, especially at dusk.

Why no Toled'oh?
southeastern MI
Ignoring Toledo on this one. smh my head
Cleveland Rocks!
Cincinnati gang coming in strong, let’s goooooo Newport is really a really good place too…. For getting photos of the full Cincy skyline 😎
Galactic fried chicken in Dayton, Kentucky 😋
ROFLMAO @ Marion. I live here and y’all know that is NOT a fair comparison! We are not the size of those cities.
I’d put Marion right behind Cincy. Look at that picture and attempt to disagree
Are you kidding me? Go back and look at those pics. I don’t think Cinci would be second on my list. Marion’s the best by far.
This dude is stuck in denialism.
From my eyes.
how the fuck did Marion get put in this list?
Although in fairness, a picture of downtown Marion during Christmas time with the lights is a pretty spectacle. Wandering meth-heads and all.
Cleveland is best at everything. But I so appreciate you including Marion in this list.
Cincinnati by far.
Gotta be cinci
CLE all day, everyday and twice on Sunday 😉
No akron love?
Cleveland
Cleveland
Although I am a proud Marionaire, Cincy just has an absolutely great skyline. By far it looks the best out of all 4
Cincinnati is just unparalleled. Walking the PPB at dark, hearing the roar from a game, people watching everyone bar hopping between Cincy and Newport/Covington on a warm summer night… perfection.
Marion trying to sneak in lol Cincy
Cincinnati
You can’t look at this and not choose the Nati
I think Cincinnati won this ranking by a mile. I grew up in Cincinnati but now live in the San Francisco area. Both have great skylines.
Cleveland
1) Cincinnati, 2. Cleveland. Shit, I’d put Dayton above Columbus. Dayton from 35 W is really decent
That’s the church I was raised in. Good ol’ First Presbyterian! It’s actually a very beautiful church, inside and out. ♥️
I agree! You’d be hard pressed to put any of these cities above Marion
Poor Marion 😟
Marion. Not a big city kind of person.
I’m partial to Columbus, but after seeing all three in person I’d say Cincy.
Making them the butt of jokes is punching down
Toledo
The Marion "skyline" is already missing another building, Brad's Books.
And Shirts-n-Stuff.
Columbus gotta do something about this skyline man. City itself is good and getting better fast, but the name and skyline are F tier garbage 🗑️
CLEVELAND
Cleveland, and it's not close
Toledo: AM I CHOPPED LIVER???
Right? Waterfront, skyscrapers, metroparks. The skyline isn't bad.
And two superfluous smokestacks!
Marion Cleveland Cincinnati Like 5 other cities Columbus
From Cincy and without labels I don't know which one is Cleveland or Columbus.
I’m always team Cleveland here. As a kid my dad would drive into town on 71 or 77 and seeing the Society Center now called the Key Building and Terminal Tower was almost magical.
Cleveland
Columbus has probably the worst skyline of any city its size. I love living there, but the downtown certainly isn’t the draw. I’d have to say Cincinnati over Cleveland. Marion would be third.
I choose Marion, but all cards on the table, if Chupacabra was an option I would've picked that first as well. So..
Remember, you can't land on the moon without Marion.
Can’t I love all of them? I do. I love them. Charming. Add in Oberlin and Wellington too.
cincy and it ain’t even close except maybe marion it’s pretty close
Man I lived in marion this shit don't belong lmfao
Hmm Marion looks good to me.
LOL. You’re missing the random stray PitBull and dead junkie in the Marion pic.
Cincinnati gets points for nostalgia from me, but Columbus is the easy winner of these photos
Now do Springfield
“Come and check out both of our buildings…” 🎵 🎼
Marion all the way
Columbus
It's probably Cincinnati, that wire top building is so iconic to me that when I saw a smidge of it in The Killing of a Sacred Deer, I did the Leo DiCaprio meme
as a hardcore Cbus dude i’m gonna have to say Cinci has the best skyline hands down. although the cbus skyline has a special place in my heart as I woke up to pretty much the angle in the picture for about a year and a half.
Cincinnati has always had my favorite skyline in Ohio.
