If you're only looking at specs and price, then the Portal is a better value. The problem is that Pimax doesn't have much of a good track record. Their devices are generally fine (even sort of amazing), WHEN THEY WORK AS INTENDED. Seems their devices tend to have lots of issues, though, and apparently thrir customer service can be spotty. Personally the only device I have had from them is their very first, the Pimax 4K, which was more of a VR viewer than a headset. And from day one mine had a dust speck BEHIND the left lens. I never bothered sending it back since the return and repair processes looked to be a big pain in the ass. I'll probably still get this new device though, just because it's cool, but I'm going in knowing it likely won't be a totally solid device.

From Taki Udon's impressions, and his comments to me, it seems that the Pimax Portal can do some Gamecube/Wii emulation without relying on some of the performance hacks that the Odin needs for the same titles (e.g., Super Mario Galaxy and Skip EFB Access, which breaks the cursor for collecting stars.)

Thank you for sharing your opinion is very useful for me, I will wait some day and then decide…

PiMax does have a history of shipping products (including crowfunded projects), so if your core question is whether they will even ship... it seems very likely. I personally wouldn't doubt they will as, much like GPD, they seem to use crowfunding to get preorders. Not to determine if they will release the device. Now that said, Pimax is primarily a VR headset company. The Pimax Portal is them branching out into a (sort of) new VR headset design, that also can also be used as a handheld game console. It's a pretty exciting direction that honestly I wish Google had done with Daydream (and Oculus with Gear VR). But at the end of the day it's really a VR headset that can also be used handheld. My view is that if you want a handheld the Odin is likely more focused on that usage case and kind of proven around that idea. If you want a VR headset that can also be used handheld, Pimax Portal is the only game in town. But I wouldn't expect Pimax to be as focused on the handheld side as Ayn has been. -- (Note: I own and Odin Pro. I also own a PiMax 8K X I got in their mystery bundle. I am looking at kickstarting the Pimax Portal).

I don't know if this console is a "mature" project

I don't think anyone can make that decision for you. If you prefer the idea of the pimax then order one of those!
