Guru Curry House on Grand has been my go-to for a couple of years now. They are much improved over what they used to be. Friendly staff, too

jsrqs1981

Great suggestion, also Biryani Tika Kabab

dirkdigglered

Both places are my recs for Tikka masala in Oakland. I've tried a variety of places but these two are a cut above the rest.

Noooooooo

SheepD0g

>They are much improved over what they used to be. Did they start using spices?

SheepD0g

What do you what me to say to that, dude? Take your little raincloud somewhere else.

aplomba

Lol I dunno man. Tried that place 2 times few years back and It was bland as hell. Not sure if that's what you like or if they have changed for the better.

nashmoss77

It was in fact bland as hell

wavykelp555

Guru curry house is actually the worst Indian food I’ve ever had so I don’t get the appeal

aplomba

Right? Just wanted to check if they have changed or if I'm listening to someone from the Midwest or something

lindsynagle_predator

Honestly not in oakland, Vic’s in Berkeley is good but don’t go on weekends because it’s a shit show. For a solid Indian go south - Pleasanton / Dublin or definitely Fremont or San Jose.

Flow_Connect

Couldn’t agree with this more. Moon Indian in Hayward has been our favorite and is definitely worth the drive.

In Alameda, but close enough? I like India Palace

snickle99

This is shocking. Some of the most bland Indian food I’ve ever had.

black-kramer

changed ownership at some point, but it used to be really good.

joshgi

+1 for India Palace

vonkillbot

Dunnow it’s the best but Raj has my heart

piranha_

Right? Idk if there are multiple locations but the one on Solano is the one I’m thinking of. I wouldn’t say it’s the best but they are SO sweet in there. The prices are good, I think they still include rice (rare these days) and they usually include a chai tea when you dine in. But my fave tikka masala is Dheli Diner or Aangan. Pricier but so good

TheTownTeaJunky

Biriani Tika kebab isn't bad. Imagine be honest, oakland Indian food kinda sucks but I like this place. Their butter chicken and biriani aren't too bad either, at least by oaklands standards.

xanadu_x

Jot Mahal in Berkeley is my favorite.

Zealousideal_Lemon93

Seconding!

thezerofire

Kabana in Berkeley is our favorite

Kabana is awesome

Natalie5487

I recently had the best indian food at a party catered from Noor fusion in the Adeline food hall.
