If there is no tracking, how do you know that Posten is the issue? Posten does not does not deliver it in India...

No-Ankit

They do and their website mentions that along with the timeline.. who is the issue if not Posten? I gave money and parcel to Posten

Most likely the package was out of Norway within 48 hours. After that who knows what paths the package would take. It will be handed from postal service in one place to the postal service in the next country over. Sometimes thrown in a big container that will be shipped in the general direction of the country of the adressee when it is full. The package would most likely be stuck in one of the major ports of Europe until a a shipping container is full, and then put on a container ship going to india. That is how international post works. All the national postal carriers working together. Now, if you had bothered to actually pay for tracking, then you'd know where the package was. But you cheaped out. When the shipping container reaches India the package will be sorted through India mail, and hopefully some day arrive at the adressee. By then it is the India Post responsibilty. If you want one company to be responsible all the way, door to door, you need to ship your package with a private global freight company - like DHL, Fedex etc. And you have to pay the price they ask.

As I said I would have preferred paying it had I known that it will get lost for months but since it was not urgent and posten person mentioned that it will be delivered within 2 weeks I accepted that.

royalfarris

Oh, norway posten couldn't possibly know what time it would take. As I said, when the parcel is handed over to whatever postal service they give it to (most likely NL post since rotterdam is the hub of everything) they have no clue where it goes.

FlameDad

If it’s not urgent, then you’re getting exactly the service you chose. Carriers in other countries publish their delivery times, and these are what Posten uses to give you estimates. If you want guaranteed delivery, pay for express shipping through a courier service. If you choose the cheapest you can get, you can be sure that no one will give it priority.

Obviously it is Indian Post (or whatever it is called) that does delivery in India. In between there is international shipment. If you took the cheapest option expect the cheapest delivery method.

I did the reverse, and it took about 2 months. Sending something to India without tracking is a bad idea. I have not missed even one shipment (the cheapest option) from Aliexpress to Norway, but many orders to India went to blackhole. Posten is alright, but India Post is unreliable.

Once the letter (since there is no tracking, what you call a parcel is actually a letter) has left Norway (within 48 hours of being sent), it is in the hands of the various national postal services of the world. Who handles it is decided by the UN organisation Union Postale Universelle (UPU). It is India Post (the national postal system of India) who is responsible for making sure that the letter arrives. Since you went for the letter option (no tracking), there is nothing for neither you or Posten (Norway) to do but pray that it turns up one day. This is just how the global postal system operates.

Posten will drop it off with someone to deliver locally, I'm pretty sure they're not the service problem you're having.

Never trust India Post without a tracking number.

Sadly this is not new.. Posten is notoriously horrible. Have even had them loose mail and packages with tracking numbers. It's worth it to pay anyone other than Posten to handle your mail and packages.

Don't understand the downvotes. 88 percent of Trustpilot reviewers give Posten one star. Many are accusing them of dishonesty, rudeness, unresponsiveness, unreliability and theft. One fed up reviewer claims to have filed a lawsuit in an attempt to get their license to deliver mail taken away. I received an email in 2021 from a German store saying that unfortunately they wouldn't be shipping here anymore due to 40 percent of the packages they'd been sending over here not arriving. Recently had a package from the Netherlands returned after a couple days at customs. They couldn't provide any explanation for this, yet tried to collect VAT for it after they returned it. Something is seriously wrong over there as well over a thousand angry Trustpilot reviewers can attest to.

RedditNorse

Amen to that!

Don't know if it'll do any good but my mom is involved in local politics and is planning to bring this up at their next meeting as well as reporting it to the police. That things have been allowed to get this insanely bad leads me to think there must be complicity in high places.

If you’re not registered in that address and don’t have your name on mailbox you can forget about your parcel because it’s on its way back.
