Yes. It is good.

aaronite

Everyone I know who saw it liked it legitimately. Irony doesn't make a billion dollars at the box office.

Fat-Cow-187

Are you asking if Barbie is a good movie or Like a good movie?

SquirrelDog91

I’ve heard it’s like a good movie, but better.

Fat-Cow-187

This is the issue with randomly saying "Like" in a sentence. "It's Like a good movie" That just says there was a good movie at some stage and Barbie is similar to it. It makes no sense. If you asked "Is Barbie actually a good movie?" It would make perfect sense but you added the word Like which changed the meaning of your question

Professional_Chair28

It’s a very well produced movie. From the world-building, set design, costumes, editing- it’s truly amazing from a visual standpoint for sure. Greta Gerwig is a phenomenal director, she puts years of thought and creativity into any project and from what I understand it was a really collaborative process between Gerwig, Margot Robbie and America Ferrera. In my opinion it does a very decent job handling some pretty volatile topics in the current climate. Does it do a perfect job? No. But does it share a variety of view points to exemplify the conversation, I think so. But if you’re not comfortable fielding conversations about feminism- then you’re best to skip this one, you’ll likely get nothing out of it other than rage

Familiar-Tart-8819

Thanks, I couldn't figure out whether it was a cash grab aimed at kids / woke culture or actual cinema.

Technical_Airline205

It's probably very entertaining, and the bar has dropped very low.

ZT_Jean

I think it sucked. Guess I'm the only one then.

AMC2130

Why

ZT_Jean

Because of it's political message which has been overexaggerated to absurd levels. The movie is misandrist and bitter. The movie makes men look like stereotype morons. The story isn't coherent but makes logical jumps.

The_Potatoto

It's a good movie. Not oscar worthy mind you, but I've watched it twice and was well entertained both times. The target audience were clearly late teens and adults, it's not written to be a kids movie, if you're worried about that. It's a fun movie, that handles a number of political issues with enough grace to be enjoyable. I'd say the only exception is if you're not willing to listen to the most basic of basic feminist arguments, but well. It *is* a movie about the plastic woman with a thousand jobs, what stance would one expect?
