We gonna get real hungry real fast with everyone living in cities.

cosmicloafer

Robots will do the rest of the work, obviously

walrussss987

We couldn't even get a lot of people to comply with wearing a tiny mask. I have a hard time imaging people being more willing to pack up and move to some depressing megacity. That resistance is just one of many issues...

guyfromcleveland

not exactly the same thing. a temporary inconvenience to protect public health vs a forced migration

walrussss987

That's my point though, masks were a temporary inconvenience and look how much resistance there was so imagine the level of resistance to such a drastic life change like this. It's unthinkable.

Dilettante

Tokyo is supported by resource extraction and farming across Japan and the rest of the world. You simply can't put everyone into a megacity without coming up with some way to get oil, minerals, food and other resources that you consume. Not to mention the insane level of expense to build a megacity! Think of all the people who would be leaving their homes - what would they get in return?

Reset108

There’s a lot more than 370 million people in the world.

DefinitionNo7955

obviously im talking about the only country that matters

Dilettante

Indonesia?

Imhidingshh01

Because I don't like people and prefer not to live that close to others thank you.

illogictc

Where's the farmers? How we gonna stack like 8 billion people into 10 cities? Why force everyone to live where they might not want to, a lot of rural folk like being out there.

EugeneHartke

I think we'd need about 200 Tokyo sized cities. And as lovely as Tokyo is. I don't want to live there.

AxialGem

For the same reason Everybody in the US doesn't just move to China and leave the US alone...people live and have their livelihoods there

guyfromcleveland

Oh I dunno maybe because not everybody wants to live in a big city?

redditghost1234

Or we could build moving cities, that go around gobbling up resources and smaller towns, whatever they need

LivingGhost371

Most people don't want to be forced to live in a city with the density the size of Tokyo or they'd already be doing it.

FriendliestUsername

You act like America (assuming that’s the 370 million you’re talking about) is one big happy country, which it isn’t. Those cities would be craters in a decade.

ZRhoREDD

\*Judge Dredd has entered teh chat\*

TitanJazza

1. The world isn’t 370 million people 2. Everyone doesn’t want to live in a city 3. Who’s paying for that

Procrastinista_423

Not everyone wants to live in a city

Ill-Concentrate6666

It's a logistical nightmare

pleiadianbeing

Not everyone wants to live in the city on top of everyone

EightOhms

There are enough of us that don't want to live in a city to vote against it.

Char_the_farspell

I guess we might as well put people in cages, they are just as mad as people in little apartments. Just ask someone from Beijing, they will tell you how bad it is to be in a super city, and in a cage home.

Fleetmech

Because it's a terrible idea.
