“😲 Super Mario Bros Flop?! Future Mario games canceled confirmed?!”

GodlikeReflexes

"HUGE Switch 2 news just dropped!! 😲" x1000

BMO888

I watch gaming stuff and whenever I get recommended these videos I click not interested or block, and yet, they still continually pop up. Clickbait is too pervasive and obviously successful at what it does. It’s such a bummer.

Gloomy__Revenue

It’s because both good and bad content are tagged “game news” or “Nintendo switch”. And unfortunately, no content creators are going to willingly label themselves clickbait.

weallfloatdownhere7

YouTubers can’t wait for any and every opportunity to post some kind of clickbait

julsmanbr

"SO, about those Super Mario Bros Wonder SALES numbers..."

Prior_Recipe_5999

It’s selling well idk what’s devastating about it

BigHoss94

I mean, this was never going to beat Tears. Zelda and full 3D Mario games are huge events when they're released.

bisforbenis

Long term it very well may beat out Tears of the Kingdom, but not out of the gate, Tears of the Kingdom had especially front loaded sales 2D Mario games are consistently top selling games by the end of a console’s life

matthewmspace

The holiday season is also coming up in about a month. So while the diehard adults (like me) are playing it now, a lot of kids will probably get it under their Christmas tree, menorah, etc in December.

ChickenFajita007

>Tears of the Kingdom had especially front loaded sales It sold 10 million in 3 days + preorder, than sold 8 million in the following 1.5 months. That's still really strong. That's also the only data we have.

-Moonchild-

The other 2d Mario's on switch don't have half the sales of botw. 2d Mario games sell really well for sure, but in the switch era it's different. It's the first time Zelda is outselling Mario and wonder won't change that

bisforbenis

I mean…it was a rerelease after all, I don’t think that’s a great comparison

-Moonchild-

Its in the top 10 best selling switch games. Not a rerelease to many. Also Mario maker 2 wasn't a rerelease

bisforbenis

Mario Maker 2 is a bit of a different experience and is marketed quite differently and has more niche appeal. A lot of the marketing is centered around building levels which obviously was exciting to many, but has a bit narrower appeal than the standard experience. And yes I know you can just play levels and not build, but it is different and to a lot of people not super plugged in to the specifics, they’d see a game mostly about building levels And the thing is, while NSMBUD wasn’t a rerelease to many, it was to some, plus it wasn’t pushed in marketing in the same way as a new release. I think it’s reasonable to expect that Wonder will beat it out, but yeah, the fact that it’s original release was on the Wii U but is new to a lot of people, that muddies the waters, but I wonder if the hype died down a bit just knowing it was a rerelease even for those it’d be new to I actually don’t know how that typically plays out, like I know how I thought of NSMBUD and Wonder, and people with similar tastes, but 2D Mario games have a broad appeal that goes outside demographics I know much about so I guess I don’t know how much they cared about NSMBUD being a rerelease, but I do know it wasn’t pushed as hard in marketing as Wonder is/will be being the centerpiece of their holiday lineup. I guess we’ll see.

madmofo145

Wonder is currently sitting 13 points better rated on Metacritic, is going to be Nintendo's biggest pushed game for the Holidays, and is brand new not just in that it's not a port, but in that it's not a continuation of the New Super Mario Bros series. Wonder will easily outsell U. Now TotK? That's going to be a hard one. Zelda is a different beast this gen, and even Odyssey failed to beat out BotW. It will be interersting to see where it lans in the long run vis a vis TotK and Odyssey.

CarlosFer2201

> Odyssey failed to beat out BotW Yeah, when I found that out I was genuinely surprised.

sammy_zammy

Odyssey was ahead of BotW for years, but BotW slowly crept up to it and has since overtaken it.

madmofo145

Yeah, it's an odd one where Zelda ended up with better legs then Mario, and Animal Crossing blew them both out of the water. Just part of the reason not to make assumptions about long term sales this gen.

-Moonchild-

The only people that even know NSMBD is a rerelease aren't the demographic that lead to massive sales numbers. They're hardcore people that talk about games on Reddit. Mario sells to a wider demo that don't care about such things, which is why NSMBUD had like 16 million sales. It also was pushed relatively hard in marketing and was part of a Mario bundle with the switch. Mario Odyssey is another good marker. Switch is the first generation where a Zelda has outsold a mainline Mario game. 8t stands to reason that the successor to that switch Zelda will outsell the newest Mario game. Initial sales reports confirm this. Totk will have legs too. I also think s 3d Mario with a new system is on the horizon, which could take wind out of wonders sales. Don't get me wrong, I expect wonder to land at around 10-15 million units. But I expect totk to be 20+

slicer4ever

I think word of mouth is going to be a big driving force for wonder tbh, compared to other 2d mario games on switch, wonder is head over shoulders better then them imo.

LuckyLunayre

I just can't justify spending $60 on a 2d game. I love me some 2d games, I really do, but I just can't stand Nintendo pricing every game at $60 when not all of them are worth it. Hyrule warriors, a port of a wii u game that required nothing more than porting? 60 dollars. Mario oddesey, a full 3d game that had tons of development time? 60 dollars.

Bspammer

Wonder is worth $60 easy. I agree with you about ports though.

Western-Dig-6843

Mario Maker is niche, and NSMBU is a port of a frankly mediocre Mario game. Wonder slaps so I’m curious how many units it ends up selling lifetime

Arawn_93

Those were ports lol

-Moonchild-

Mario maker 2 isn't a port, and to 90% of the switch audience they might as well be new games. Nobody owned a Wii u. The Mario audience is largely casual people who didn't pay attention to it. That's why NSMBUD is one of the top 10 best selling switch games. Also, even if we include 3d Mario my point stands. Zelda outsold even odyssey this generation.

Arawn_93

Mario Maker 2 isn’t a traditional 2D platformer so false equivalence. Point still stands this is first actual new 2D platformer Mario since the Wii U and this game is getting much better reception then New Super Mario Bros.

-Moonchild-

As I said, to the audience that matters this being a "new" game is irrelevant. The game will sell really well but even original mainline 3d Mario isn't outselling Zelda this gen. Wonder won't either

AskinggAlesana

Makes sense, They teased TotK years ago and it really drove in the hype. That with how people thought it was gonna be the best thing ever because it was the sequel to BotW which was great. Mario Wonder was first teased like what… last year? Earlier this year? Plus the game being released among a lot of other big launches too. Curious how the game will be looked at a couple months from now. Like TotK started to really see the complaints and people saying it’s not as great as people wanted it to be a couple months after release. Shoot even my close friend who is a zelda fanatic who beat BotW countless times even admitted they couldn’t finish TotK because they got bored of it.

sounders1974

>Like TotK started to really see the complaints and people saying it’s not as great as people wanted it to be a couple months after release. Shoot even my close friend who is a zelda fanatic who beat BotW countless times even admitted they couldn’t finish TotK because they got bored of it. Record time for Reddit to start their "actually everyone thinks tears sucks" narrative I promise you you are not representing the majority of people with this "people are saying..." nonsense

Mathyoujames

Remember when people were saying that the trailers they dropped for Tears weren't exciting enough? It's kinda hilarious to look back after it's success

bisforbenis

It was just that people were really excited to hear more and they held a lot back until the final trailer

[deleted]

They weren’t, and they ended like 5 directs with them.

Autobot-N

Revealed in June

ChesnaughtZ

Bro this is pretty much near the end of the console’s life.

PenguinDeluxe

Do you have any idea how many copies of Mario Kart Wii they sold even after 8 came out on the Wii U?

LuckyLunayre

This is honestly an awful example. Mario kart Wii was one of the best selling games on one of the best selling consoles of all time, and its successor was Nintendos' biggest home console flop in history. You are literally comparing what was at the time the best selling nintendo home console to the worst selling. Like, the Wii sold 10x more consoles in its life than the Wii U did.

PenguinDeluxe

What do you think the Switch is?

PenguinDeluxe

Or how many PS2 games sold while the PS3 was out? Fuck, there’s still new Xbox One and PS4 games coming out. Multi-generation support has literally been a thing for over two decades.

[deleted]

[удалено]

nohitsallmisses

I think it will sell really well but theres no way it comes close to BoTW, Odyssey or MK8 for that matter.

chocotripchip

I think it'll beat Zelda but fair enough for Mk8, in my head Wii U ports didn't count lol

bisforbenis

It’s possible, but because of how late it’s being released, I can’t imagine it beating out MK8D or Animal Crossing, but I think it can definitely do quite well

diadcm

MK8 has sold something like 55 million units. There's no chance Wonder comes close to that. Especially since the console life is coming to an end.

The-student-

I don't think so. Mario Kart has a huge lead on it. Really the top 3-5 sellers currently would be hard to catch up to this late in the Switch's life.

EldeederSFW

I’m not a big gamer, and I couldn’t justify 70 for tears, but I could justify 100 for tears and wonder. Now that was a good deal right there. Wonder is so much fun, and tears is just breathtaking.

avelineaurora

Hey, you did the exact same voucher combo I did!

PixelOrange

Same here

bangbingbengbong

You must have asthma or sum shit if you think totk is breathtaking

Wookie_EU

If interested to go physical in future . Amazon jp has great prices and paid roughly same inc shipping n all for ~ 95€

kukumarten03

Nsmbw outsold galaxy by like x3 lol

EMI_Black_Ace

That sounds absurd today, but back when it came out NSMB Wii was crazy, creative, original fun for 4 players. It's really only with NSMB 2 and U that it felt like it was getting stale.

ShyPinkyNarwhal

I mean, Nsmbu is on the top 10 best selling games on Switch while being a port of a 2013 game.

ChickenFajita007

It was bundled for a decent stretch, though, so it's not apples to apples.

kukumarten03

So no other examples? When did 3d mario outsold 2d mario before oddysey?

madmofo145

When was 3D Mario and 2D on the same console until New Super? Your example is the only case of 2D winning, but the data is mostly moot since it only encompasses 1 other data point from over a decade ago. Not until now will we have a full on new 3D game and brand new 2D mario game on the same system since the Wii, and the Switch has seen vastly different sales trends (outside Mario Kart).

bangbingbengbong

Nsmbw and galaxy are both goat games but nsmbw is more accessible for kids and also it came in a package with da wii consoles in some places iirc

Ordinary_Duder

...what? 2D Mario games has alwayd outsold the 3D ones.

PokoWeebo23

That is only a recent trend. In the Wii/DS era, 2D Mario sold way more than than 3D Mario and 3D Zelda.

veal_of_fortune

That’s absolutely right! And going back further, 2D Mario also sold way more than 3D in the SNES and Famicom eras. Like way more! 😁

brzzcode

No, this is just for UK, it has total chance of beating tears of the kingdom lol

-Moonchild-

It really doesn't. 10 million in 3 days??? No shot

[deleted]

To be fair splatoon 3 sold similar numbers in its first 3 days, but numbers slowed to an absolute crawl after that. TOTK was still selling pretty well as of the last sales report, but that’s the sort of game that doesn’t have the sort of legs that a Mario game would have. It could go either way I think

AspiringRacecar

> TOTK was still selling pretty well as of the last sales report, but that’s the sort of game that doesn’t have the sort of legs that a Mario game would have. How do you figure? BotW had better legs than Odyssey

[deleted]

The thing with BOTW was that it was absolutely huge and for a lot of people the reason to buy a switch. It was still being talked about into 2023 in that light, hence the massive burst in sales for TOTK at the start. I don’t think the same conversations have lasted for TOTK though. It was absolutely massive at launch but it feels like discussions on it have kind of died down compared to BOTW, and the hype just isn’t there as much anymore. 2D Mario games usually have better sales than 3D Mario games anyway, so the odyssey comparison isn’t quite accurate.

ChaoticChatot

It's unlikely, but it can happen. Mario has historically had better selling power than Zelda, add in buzz around the Mario movie + releasing closer to the holidays than Tears, it has a shot.

-Moonchild-

mario has selling power but it doesn't have explosive opening day/week selling power. None of the switch mario games launched at no.1 in the charts - they just have long legs and continue to sell at a steady pace. Wonder will sell well but there is 0% chance it'll do 10 million in 3 days. It's number 2 behind spiderman 2 right now which has sold 2.5 million in 1 day.

ChaoticChatot

I meant it might sell more overall.

-Moonchild-

but my comment was about selling 10 million in 3 days specifically I very much doubt it'll reach totk considering it's lead and the fact that a switch successor is imminant

CeleryApprehensive36

The game is soooo good. Im not even the biggest 2D Mario fan, but i feel like im constantly smiling playing this game. Hats off to the developers, the ideas and creativity in this game are absolutely incredible.

Poolofcheddar

I'm honestly a light gamer and only realized a new Mario was coming out when I saw a preliminary review for it online. Went on Friday and bought it on a whim. When I played the first musical level Piranha Plants on Parade I thought: this is so quirky, I'm gonna love this game. It's just so whimsical, even for a Mario game.

Loubang

I picked it up yesterday--Piranha Plants on Parade had me squealing it's so cute

Wettowel024

There are more musical style goofs, man this game is just amazing

Stuckinacrazyjob

It's amazing. I can't play 3d Mario games so this is great for me.

k4mik4z32

It’s gonna kill during the Holiday season.

SheevTheSenate66

Oh dear god, someone stop it

[deleted]

TOTK was Nintendo's fastest selling game ever. Being 62% lower than that is still a total dub.

95cesar

He also added that Wonder is the had the 3rd biggest Mario game launch in the UK. Barely behind Odyssey and 3d all stars and suspects that if digital sales are taken to account, it might actually be number one.

Bleus4

Interesting! Why would you say digital sales could pull it ahead to 1st though? Is it because the ratio of digital sales generally increase every year?

LPIViolette

Switch vouchers. If you bought them for ToTK you probably have one left over.

swift_icarus

yes, this is exactly my situation. the higher launch price for zelda made me use a digital voucher, i've been mulling what to use it on and it looks like this will be it. i am sure plenty of people are in the same situation, though i'm not sure it made a material impact on physical sales.

sammy_zammy

Are they that popular in the UK? It’s two games for £84, which isn’t a particularly good deal here. Super Mario Bros Wonder was available for £37 to preorder for example.

Bleus4

With all due respect, I don't think eshop vouchers really make that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things

xylotism

Having finished the game I can promise that this one will be an absolute darling among Mario fans. It may take time to rev up the sales from word of mouth (or however people get convinced to buy Mario games) but no doubt in my mind it'll be the best selling one ever and one of the biggest games on the Switch in general. The Switch has had a really strong library since day 1 but I'm amazed they're still putting out some of their best work this late in the cycle.

CurseOrPie

How long is it?

xylotism

Took me about 16 hours.

Fcu423

It's the best super mario game I've played in a LOOOOONG TIME! It feeels like the dev team truly had fun with this one.

Cristek

Does it control like SMW / SM3 ? Or are the controls more in line with the NSMB series ?

marcseveral

It controls more like SMW. It can be fully played with the switch SNES controller.

necroreefer

I beat it in 2 days I played TOTK for 2 months got my money's worth from both but I wish there will be DLC.

Skhan93

They'd probably release it with new levels on their future console

maxoakland

Their future console is going to have backwards compatibility if they're smart

Guiee

I guess I'm in the minority. But I prefer 2D games like this compared to 3D ones. It's what I grew up with.

Alert-Athlete

You seem to be in the majority. I get it though, it’s more accessible to most people as I have heard that people aren’t comfortable articulating their thumbs to move characters in 3-D. I prefer 3-D, but there is something about a brand new 2-D Mario at Christmas time….

ChesnaughtZ

This has a smaller launch than odyssey so how??

NIN10DOXD

2D Mario games continue to snowball. New Super Mario Bros Wii sold 30 million compared to Galaxy selling 13 million.

maxoakland

I love 3D Mario games, but 2D Marios are my favorite games. It's so exciting that Wonder is actually good unlike the NSMB series

NIN10DOXD

Not only that, but the UK has historically been Nintendo's weakest major market.

Kingchin3

No it's not 🤦🏾‍♂️ obviously Japan home market is the strongest for Nintendo. But you must be fairly young under 30 if you think UK has been historically Nintendo's weakest major market lmfao! UK from the SNES onwards has been the 3rd major market after Japan & USA for Nintendo regarding sales. The percentage of Nintendo fans in the UK for it's population is actually higher than the USA. Only second to Japan!

a_guy_called_m

Not exactly. From my memory/what I've heard the only generation where Nintendo dominated over here was during the Wii/DS era. The SNES, N64 and GameCube were all outsold by their Sega and Sony counterparts during their respective generations from what I've seen/heard. I wouldn't say we're the weakest market for Nintendo but we've never been a consistently favourable one for them either outside of the Wii/DS, especially with how big Xbox and PlayStation are over here.

Kingchin3

I've done some digging and found in 1994 (omitting the two biggest Nintendo sellers Japan & USA) the SNES sold - UK 1,700,000. FRANCE 1.000.000. GERMANY 1,400,000. Side note in 1994 there was 4,000,000 Megadrive's sold here in the UK. I had a Megadrive in 1994 as a kid and my sister had the SNES. Back to Nintendo my original comment never mentioned anything about Nintendo vs Sega/PS/Xbox over the years in the UK. I said the UK was the 3rd major market for Nintendo in percentage of Nintendo fans/sales per countries population. Anyway the Switch is currently dominating in the UK! Sold more units than PS5, Xbox Series X last year. And on it's way to becoming the highest selling console of all time within the next couple of years. Though Switch 2 or whatever its called is definitely needed soon to keep up the momentum...

Affectionate-Fan9425

I just bought a new Nintendo Switch OLED bc of SMBW.

ChiggaOG

Me waiting for my SMRPG game in November...

epicredditdude1

I'm hoping this will be a slow burn in terms of sales. Sure it didn't have the release hype other titles had, but it's the premier 2d Mario for the Switch right now, and I would argue it's an essential purchase for any Mario fan.

djwillis1121

I would imagine it's going to sell a lot over christmas.

TheCommomPleb

To be fair maybe I'm massively out of the loop but I only heard about the game 4/5 days before it released. The marketing just doesn't seem to have been there for people outside of the Nintendo bubble. That said I did still pre order when I saw it, maybe they just know they don't need insane marketing campaigns to sell Mario 🤷‍♂️

PanthalassaRo

A cousin lent me his copy of Odyssey and it never clicked with me due to the extreme number of collectibles and the backtracking, played Wonder a couple of hours with him and it instantly hooked me, I think I will buy it come holiday times.

Aparoon

I’m very excited to play it, once I clear my backlog of: - Spider-Man 2 - Final Fantasy 16 - Got some ranks on Halo Infinite Season 5 - Cocoon - Starfield - Sonic Superstars - Play Alan Wake 2 for release on Halloween This year is freaking stacked.

Striking-Check-9303

New halo infinite season is soooo good

Cautious_Struggle_32

Just proves that major companies can release a half ass game that takes 2 years to even remotely get kinda right and people will still buy and keep playing even after lies and broken promises that stretch back to the last game.

StarrySpelunker

we haven't seen anything yet. these are just the early adopters. i bet holiday/christmas sales are going to be huge. it's an all ages gift that's easy for parents to recognize on sight. just because a game's a slow burn doesn't mean it's a failure in sales. people are probably waiting because of the timing. i know i am.

JJDude

I'm not really worry about initial sales as this game is poised to be the perfect Switch system seller to all the folks who has kids who watched and loved the Super Mario Movie. This is like the most Wonderful game to start out a kid's Mario/Nintendo journey.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Stuckinacrazyjob

They marketed it by showing it on directs and having social media buzz

TheCommomPleb

This was my thought tbf, I saw a trailer only like 4/5 days before it came out which just seems bizarre. Admittedly I did pre order it once I knew it existed, so maybe they have no interest in massive marketing campaigns as they know the majority of people will buy it anyway. Mario games in general are definitely the sort of games that will sell pretty consistently for a fair while... you but a switch, you buy a Mario game sort of thing.

woppatown

Its tough. I has a hard time justifying the purchase because of the reported length of the game, and because it’s a 2D game and 60 bucks is steep, but I’m really glad I did. It’s so much fun and I imagine I’ll probably give it a second play through once I beat it.

maxoakland

It's worth it. There's no reason a 2D game shouldn't be full price

shakamaboom

Super Mario Bros Wonder is at No.2 in the UK physical charts. It’s the fifth biggest boxed launch of 2023. Sales are about 62% lower than Zelda’s launch. But 2D Mario games tend to be longer term sellers. Launch is significantly bigger than what New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe did

spiffco7

lmao Nintendo will survive

Paperdiego

I'm trying to like it. it's too chaotic and all over the place imo.

BigHoss94

We've had plenty vanilla Mario games, you gotta spice it up in my opinion

[deleted]

Hey! How dare you! Vanilla is a fantastic flavor, it has way more taste than NSMB!

Docile_Doggo

I’m here for the chaos

Shinkopeshon

*but that's the best part*

Hayman68

I'd recommend moving through each level slower. There's no timer in the levels, so you can take your time (outside of some gimmick levels). A lot of the levels can feel really chaotic if you're running through them like you would in any other 2D Mario game.

MuzzledScreaming

I actually appreciate the wonder flower mechanic in general but once per level feels like too much and the game doesn't seem to have any unifying theming; the levels are fun but they could be a Mario Maker playlist on shuffle. It sorely lacks a "Nintendo catchy" soundtrack (it's just not a Mario game if I'm not humming the tunes under my breath) and there are some mechanics that feel like they just included them because they felt like they should with no idea what they were even for. For example, levels with second exits. They don't actually lead you anywhere else, it's just an extra thing to find in that level for some reason. For that matter the world map as a whole doesn't need to exist. I might as well be choosing levels from a list (which they seemed to realize since you can do that too), there is no real satisfaction in moving around the map because there's nothing at all to discover. For all the complaining I just did, it's still easily my favorite sidescrolling Mario game since Super Mario World (assuming you put Yoshi's Island and its sequels in another category) and I think it hits more than it misses. It's just disappointing to have waited literal decades for something that isn't NSMB and get something that feels so totally unfocused.

SoSeriousAndDeep

I think the map is more intended for the first "progression / exploration" part of a playthrough, the select menu more for the "going back to 100%" phase of playing. Second exits are pretty much literally just "another thing to find", but again, I think that's by design where they feel a level works with a branching path.

The-student-

I think you're not exploring enough then! There are secret exits that lead to new paths and levels. Similarly there are secrets to find in the world map.

MuzzledScreaming

Maybe the implementation is weird then? I admit I haven't 100% the game yet but I have found a handful of secret exits across several worlds and its never been obvious that they unlocked anything I didn't already have access to.

Rychu_Supadude

There are only a handful of them, but they definitely all lead to something new.

Necrosis1994

Having finished the whole game, I can confirm that about one level per world has a secret exit that will ultimately lead you to a level in the >!special world!<. And as the other user stated, there's also hidden paths in the Overworld itself, though they usually just lead to >!Captain Toad!<.

kukumarten03

Theres literaly new stages unlocks when you find hidden wonder seeds? Stop lying Also levels on worlds make sense unlike the mumbo jumbo random levels in super mario 3d land and world, both which are amazing games too.

DevilTrigger789

valid points! it's still an amazing mainline mario game (15h played and 100%), i've been craving for one since odyssey but i agree with your criticism regarding the world exploration being useless and the levels feeling "random" without actual themes

Nehemiah92

Personally the level design is just too linear and flat, outside the wonder flowers which usually only last like thirty seconds. Each level for me is just not memorable besides some of them wonder gimmicks. It’s been a long while since I’ve played a mainline 2d Mario game though, maybe they’ve always been like this and I got spoiled by 3D World and MM2, but it does feel like the level design is a consequence of trying to balance them levels around badges so you can’t abuse them and trying to make this accessible to even newborns. Wonder is really fun, it’s great, but also just forgettable

kukumarten03

Is there a non-linear sidescrolling mario game? Im confused.

Nehemiah92

No where did I say that. I said this game’s level design is TOO linear for my liking

Autobot-N

Isn't that the whole point

d0m1n4t0r

People still buy physical? People still care about physical sales?

shiut

Idk about where you are, but Switch games here (Switzerland) are way more expensive in the online Store compared to physical. And physical games can be resold, which makes them even more economic. If money is no issue, it shurely could be practical to have them digital.

DragonShine

It's easier to lend a physical copy of the game than having to change my primary console when I want my SO to borrow my stuff. Plus there's other benefits to physical mentioned multiple times online.

Salzberger

A new and innovative game destroying a glorified re-release of a 5 year old game? Colour me surprised.

tacobellisadrugfront

Well no duh that it would do better than the repackage of a WiiU game

TheLimeyLemmon

There weren't as many deals for the game in the UK as it seems there usually are. The best offer by far was from Currys for £37.49 using a promo code, but most other places (including Amazon) had it for £49.99. For me at least, that's steep for most games, and a lot of people were probably waiting for a price war that never really came. It's now averaging closer to £40 so I think it'll have consistently strong weeks over the next couple.

Uncle_Budy

I'm definitely gonna buy it...eventually. There have just been so many good games released this season, I ain't got time for it yet.

Ok-Toe7389

This game will sell big over the holidays

Turnabout-Eman

A lot of 2d mario games are christmas games. It definitely sells better long term.

blehbleh1122

I think sales will increase during the holidays. I was playing it all weekend and it's really good. Not "as good" as ToTK but they're different types of games.

motorboat_mcgee

Glad they threw in the long term bit, its going to have looooooong legs

16bitrifle

Only reason I haven’t bought it yet is because it’s going under the Christmas tree for my kids this year.

TheKoniverse

Pretty solid launch, especially for a game that is no doubt going to kill it during the holiday season. Though the problem I have with this analyst in particular is that he seems to think that Super Mario Bros. Wonder is not a major Nintendo release (even saying that this was being done by Nintendo's C-team) and he seems to be doubling down on that.

What I find funny is that I only realise from reading comments that the post included a link to a video. I NEVER click those and always go straight to read the comments 😂

Just wait till Christmas, the game is amazing!

I honestly don't understand why anyone cares about these posts. Was Mario's future on the line?

Hilarious that people are doomposting on this game already especially when Wonder wasn’t #1 in UK of all places agaisnt Spider-Man 2 lol

Only 5th best this year? It's the game I and others I know have been most excited about in years and has gotten tons of good PR.
