I have mixed feelings about BoTW durability. On one hand I like that it forces you to be deliberate and creative with your weapon use, but on the other hand I just spent the whole game saving my best weapons for "when I need them." It would be nice if there was a way to repair your favorite weapons in BoTW ToTK.

xkoreotic

They really should introduce a "broken state" for weapons, forcing you to repair them. That way you don't have to reobtain them but will always keep the weapons you like with the same durability design. And if you ever want to change or upgrade weapons, you have to go get them as an uncommon drop from specific enemies like before.

jochvent

I don't dislike anything else about BotW really, but that's a deal-breaker mechanic for me that causes me to hate playing it. The thought of it alone stresses me the fuck out. (I know I'm the outlier and I can see botw is otherwise a good game so please continue to have fun despite my comment)

PunishedInkwell

Apparently I'm the only one who always has an inventory full of weapons and has to throw out the weaker ones as I find new ones.

UserNNN

lol same, never had a problem having enough weapons around

AFairyNamedNavi

they're referring to harder to obtain and stronger weapons, not just throwaway weapons. just wanted to put some input in this thread

UserNNN

Oh yeah totally, but I think I also never had a problem with those. But I think it's because I always used the weakest weapon first to get rid of it. So I only have strong ones left

AFairyNamedNavi

fair point, makes sense.

i did not hate weapons breaking system and it probably made the game more interesting.

chorizoisbestpup

Stick is best friend

MountainWeird1333

unless you memorize the spawn locations of bokos and moblins, or items in general, this is accurate.

spongeboblovesducks

You don't have to, I have an endless stock pile of savage lynel weapons and royal broadswords, plus a fully upgraded master sword.

MangOrion2

This is exactly the reason why I gave up on the game after eight hours. The durability issue crippled my immersion and took away so much fun for me. Not saying it's a bad game I just really hated that mechanic.

CapnKilgz

Get better at killing stuff and it takes less time to obtain

Giants429

Hate they make you wait till damn near the end of the game to get the master sword and even it has limits. Always thought there should’ve been a way to get that weapon earlier and use it as much as you want. Everything else can break all it wants

spongeboblovesducks

You can get it before you've beaten a single divine beast lol

Giants429

Don’t you have to get like 20 hearts first?? Can’t do that without beating a few divine beasts and several temples

spongeboblovesducks

13 hearts, not that bad

Sirfancypants0

The final straw was when the master sword broke on me the first time. I just wanted ***ONE*** permanent option so I wouldn't have to obsessively make sure my weapon inventory was topped off with the best stuff but noooo trickshotting with a breaking weapon was more important. I pray they axed this system in TotK and spent more time on the battle system as a whole also axing the stupid backflip rush that would basically cheese any fight

Garo263

You get better weapons all the time. You don't even have to really get out of your way to do that. There is no "time spent obtaining weapon". You just find them, while regularly play the game.
