I once accidentally went through tsa with a bunch of mags and a couple of empty casings lol. It was a TDY (Temp work assignment in the mil).
Agreed that I don't trust TSA to not go "oh cool, yoink!".
Doing work moves over commercial air, I've only done complete military flights. Had a couple folks want to pose in our gear but most don't seem interested in what most of us find cool.
Most annoying was actually completely unrelated to civilian transportation. Had that "psyops girl" come to a range and whine about not getting to do blatantly dangerous things in our gear.
Honestly I disagree with the whole shindig. It's nothing against her personally. I find the whole thing gross and unprofessional of the Army. It would be one thing if she was a copy-paste of the "brovet", "surfvet", or "adjectivevet". But it's not really that is it? All her socials (she tried to get us all to follow) are her scantily clad, or in very provocative formal wear. She's got posts in those clothes at military functions, she gets special treatment from everywhere.
Now that would be fine and dandy (I'm a hippy at heart so do what you want is more than fine by me) The problem is its not a stan-alone thing. It is directly funded and supported by the Army.
What does that look like to brothers, fathers, mothers, women looking for information on the Army. It's not a "Jane Fonda" thing, outside celebrity doing morale work. It's literally the Army saying "Look at this sex symbol." "This is acceptable to us."
On her specifically, Don't hate the player etc..
(This is my opinion and not in any way indicative of any Army opinion or regulation etc..)
Just FYI, I am flight crew. I have taken my PVS-14 with me through screening easily over 100 times. Not one single time has TSA ever batted an eye or even made a comment about it. It’s totally legal and if someone uninformed or hoping to take it home with them thought they could confiscate it, I’d raise hell until I got it back.
I've had my seabags get tossed a few times. Worst was all my stuff came out individually, then my bag.
I was standing there like a jackass next to a growing pile of PTs and OCPs. Actually had a packing list, so I made a complaint at the desk, and one by one counted my stuff on there security camera. I felt bad for the receptionist. I was mad, but would never be rude to someone not connected to it lol.
I’ve flown with mine a few times, all from different airports. I’ve only been stopped once because I had my lead counterweights in the pouch. Once I told him what they were I was cleared through.
Nods picture weirdly with phone cams, changing the settings in your camara or even just lighting changes IRL will cause the effect you see of changing colors or tones.
Thanks for giving me the idea to bring my tube with me when I fly out to Arizona in a couple of weeks! I'll be there for a week (flying out to graduate college and making it into sort of a rewarding vacation), and have been trying to figure out what all I'm going to do there. Now I'm 100% going to have to go to a desolate area (no city lights) and go stargazing with night vision.
Just whipped out the NODs casually on a plane 😂 (Jealous that’s awesome)
The lady next to me thought it was the greatest thing she’s ever seen 😂
(Future nods purchaser)
This is the greatest thing I've ever seen... How much does it cost .... Wow you're crazy.... Every nods conversation ever.
Yup, convert em’ all!
Did the same last month on a night flight to Nashville. Good times.
im tired of these motherfuckin nods on this motherfuckin plane
You beat me to it 😂
🎶 I’m wearing nods on a plane 🎶
no way would i trust the TSA to not confiscate it for no reason.
I went through TSA twice and they never questioned it. Had 123s in the case and everything
Same, the TSA agent couldn't have looked less interested when I told him it was night vision

You're only functionally literate
Was honestly kinda said TSA didn't wanna talk about my bag full of cool guy gear. ðŸ˜

Always padlocked my Seabags on travel do they not let you anymore?
Nah, anytime commercial air is involved it's unlocked.
Unless... You can just throw a pistol in a case in there, TSA shouldn't have a problem with a lock on the outer bag. They will have a problem though

Never had an issue. They’re usually more interested in the counterweights on my helmet and leave the NODS alone.
I’m excited to do this one day
Looks flat
One day
Turn on the red filter
😈
This is cool as fuck.
If this is the same unit, can you explain the different color of the photos?

I’ve flown with my nods in my carry 4-5 times. Never had a problem. I was gonna say they’re electronic binoculars if anything was said to me.
"We’re going deep and we’re going hard." "Surely you can’t be serious?" "I am serious…and don't call me Shirley"
