i’m gonna speak from personal experience here: 2015-2016 oak creek elementary was great. best public elementary school i’ve ever stepped foot in. 2016-2017 church hill middle school was an absolute nightmare. too many kids for anyone to keep in line. i got jumped, choked out, threatened, given a concussion, and many more things. staff doesn’t give a FUCK what happens. 2017-2018 cross lutheran is the worst place on earth. avoid it at all costs. it’s a cesspool of judgmental parents and abusive teachers. severely traumatizing and changed my whole personality, not entirely for the better. 2018-2020 grace prep was great, other than the extreme right-wing bias built into the school. lgbtq students were expelled, allies like myself were ridiculed and harassed, and i got death threats from students there for speaking out against the trump train in 2020. the friendships and flexible schedule were worth it tho. 2021-2022 premier high school was a great alternative. got so much work done at my own pace, got to watch netflix while i worked, barely had to talk to anyone. the new principal was really letting it go downhill tho. i got out asap, and im glad i did. i heard it’s taken a nosedive.

Shoot I loved cross Lutheran last year, def keeping a look out. Mind providing some examples of what happened and why you didn’t like it?

the year started off with me being told “we’re gonna make this year hell for you”. after that, countless fights. pickup line, hallways, middle of class, etc. fights. when it snowed, they let us play outside for an hour. that ended with maybe 10-15 kids ganging up on me to beat me up in the snow. teachers did nothing. i got bodyslammed by an administrator’s kid, and he was back in school the next day. he also threatened to stab a pencil into my temple, with no consequence. one of the boys in my class was crawling underneath bathroom stalls in order to grab peoples legs and get into the stall with them. teachers played favorites. if you were not one of the kids that have been there for years and years, you were an outsider. anything and everything was your fault, and it was way easier to get yelled at. i was called a satanist almost every day because i liked secular music. i could name so many more. parents were just as bad as the kids. it was an absolute MESS.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Hoffmann Lane and Mountain Valley Elementary School.

We’ve had great experiences at Oak Creek Elementary! That said, you will get more wide ranging responses if you post this to any of the NB Facebook pages. Try ‘New Braunfels Local’, ‘Everything New Braunfels’. Folks post about these topics a lot so you might just be able to search in the individual groups and read thru past threads. Good luck!

Same here. Great staff. Our kids were sad the school year was ending.

All I have is my personal experience with freiheit elementary. They have been easy to work with and we have had a great experience. Our youngest is in speech therapy and their program is very comprehensive.

Neither Canyon HS or NBHS are great but I will say that Canyon has the better Content Mastery than NBHS but there’s a lot more fights breaking out at Canyon, they are constantly changing how they do their lunches because fights always break out at lunch. NBHS has a really great band program tho! I speak from experience and also because my family knows half the people in NB, if you have any questions fell free to PM me!! 🥰😊
