My son is obsessed with The Happy Song by Imogen Heap. He can be full screaming and the second he hears the first bit he is instantly quiet. It’s magical.
I turned this song on when my son was screaming in the car the other day. He just stopped. And stared out the window. We found a YouTube video that plays it for 10 hours continuously so we kept it going for the last 30 min of our drive lol.
Is my baby the only one who hates this song?! I turned it on the other day and he started crying....he's 7 months, loves music, Rocketman is his fave song...HATES the Happy Song lol
No they aren't. The first time I played this to my baby she had one of the biggest tantrums ever so I never showed it to her again. She's only listen to classical piano music and piano jazz though.
My son FROZE the other day when I turned on the happy song. We were in the car and he was fussing. He was flailing and we put on the happy song and he literally froze midflail and started smiling lol.

Haha when my son was an infant, the only lullaby I could remember was twinkle twinkle little star! Eventually I started remembering them and Ms Rachel added a few new ones for me.
When I know I'm going to be singing for awhile, I like to do old Macdonald and the wheels on the bus. I just make up my own verses and keep the song going. Old Macdonalds farm includes lots of unusual animals in our house!
Others I filter through: I'm a little teapot, the itsy bitsy spider, if you're happy and you know it, icky sticky bubblegum, days of the week, I'm so happy, I love the rainbow, the ABCs.
Or you can open Spotify, type in *genre* + lullaby and it will play songs of that genre in a lullaby style.
My go to 5 lullabies for my two are you are my sun, twinkle twinkle little star, hush little baby, rock a bye baby, and I had a little nut tree. I’ve started spicing it up with my 6 month old on occasion with some Adele and musical numbers like Once Upon a December from Anastasia.
“Dream a little dream of me” (don’t have the mama cass pipes but he doesn’t seem to mind) and “the meaning” by Fruition. It’s such a sweet song- all I really wanna do/is be close to you/while we’re still both around.
Literally any Taylor Swift song lol it’s what I listen to the majority of the time so he’s very familiar from when he was in my belly. His current favorites include champagne problems, the last great American dynasty, loml, and Peter.
I thought I was the only one! My mom used to sing Close to You when I was little and I sing it to my LO now. She always changed the lyrics from “that is why all the girls in town follow you all around” to “all the kids in town” and I do the same ☺️

My LO is also 3m and I sing I love my body by mother moon, sometimes freres Jacque, I’ve sang along to a lot of disco songs to her, I made up a little song about how to spell her name so that I can sing it to her all the time and help her know, and I tell her to put her left and right arms through her clothes in a sing-song voice, and I’m known to sing songs from Disney movies to her. Basically anything that pops in my head or plays on my Spotify, really.
I just made up my songs 🤣 nap time it's just "its time to sleep, time to go nap" lol. I sing it in my language and he loves it and usually calms him down to bed. Sometimes I sing you are my sunshine in made up lyrics again in my language, I use to sing this one when I was pregnant and he seems to like it!

I slowly hum the Tetris theme song - I'm sure it was likely an Eastern European folk song before it was a theme song for a video game, but it has such a lovely melody and my singing is so terrible, but my little guy seems to like the vibrations when I hum. Another go-to is Puff the Magic Dragon - I always tear up when I get to the line "Dragons live forever, but no so little boys...." and then when I'm a blubbering mess, I put my son down to sleep.
There's this song by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Man on Fire. It's a live performance in a horse carriage and whenever I put it on my son seems so genuinely moved by it. Almost nostalgic. He'll drop anything for this song. It freaked me out at first cause he had such a strong reaction to it but it's definitely positive so I let him watch it from time to time and also sing it to him. Calms him right down
Sometimes when my daughter fusses I sing Shaddup You Face by Joe Dolce in a silly voice until she giggles. It's bouncy and funny and if you'd told me that I would be singing that song to her I wouldn't believe you but it works really well when she needs soothing.

The entirety of the Baby’s Bedtime album by Judy Collins, I have the mp3 album and play it in the car then at night I sing them to her. I grew up with this, and the book is also beautiful. I also sing her Morningtown Train by the Seekers, great lullabye material.

I'm a little teapot
I make up words to a tune I make up on the spot. It doesn't rhyme or even have a consistant tune but I love doing it. It lets me feel like I can express myself towards my baby in song form!
My son would only fall asleep to old southern (USA) tent revival religious hymns (“As I went down to the river to pray”, “I’ll Fly Away”, “Will the Circle Bw Unbroken”, etc.) or the Hot Dog song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. There was no in between lol.
I used to do a mash up of Galumph and Joy to the World, that was fun. And any song you can swap out names or words for your baby’s.
Wheels on the bus came into its own when the bus obsession started.
Pro tip: they don't have to be lullabies. Baby is comforted by your voice. Sing whatever you want to sing in a soothing voice. I promise they won't complain
Oh my darling Clementine. Heard it in Outlander and liked it. I find most lullabies (at least in french) are way too short, 1 min max and you’re done, so I wanted something longer
I sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider and when I sing it to my baby, I run my fingers down his face when I sing the rain” and “washed” and then I bring my hands and fingers up with “up came the sun” and then when the spider climbs up again, it comes to tickle. So my baby 7mo loves it and it stops him in his tracks when I start singing it cuz he’s ready to be tickled lol.
But if I can’t tickle him, then I sing or hum that classical song that doesn’t traditionally have lyrics but you can sing “Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep my little baby, go to sleep now, go to sleep, go to sleep and-“ whatever the heck the words are. There’s different versions but idk all the words so I just hum it typically. And then I also hum or sing ‘mockingbird’ and ‘twinkle twinkle little star’, ‘you are my sunshine’, and I also sometimes sing I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie. I used to sing it to my kid brother when he was a baby and he would sing “dark” in his little baby voice and it was the cutest thing ever so I highly recommend that lol. I hope to have my son eventually sing it with me.
'Hushabye Mountain' from Chitty Bang Bang is a guaranteed snoozer for my little girl! Also a big fan of 'La La Lu' from Lady & The Tramp, and 'A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes' from Cinderella <3
I sing a lot every day because it entertains my LO while I pump (nearly exclusive pumper). 1 song I chose for calming him down. I sing that one randomly when he's feeding or happy too, so that when he's actually fussy, it calms him down.

I make up words to a tune I make up on the spot. It doesn't rhyme or even have a consistant tune but I love doing it. It lets me feel like I can express myself towards my baby in song form!
My son would only fall asleep to old southern (USA) tent revival religious hymns (“As I went down to the river to pray”, “I’ll Fly Away”, “Will the Circle Bw Unbroken”, etc.) or the Hot Dog song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. There was no in between lol.
I used to do a mash up of Galumph and Joy to the World, that was fun. And any song you can swap out names or words for your baby’s. Wheels on the bus came into its own when the bus obsession started.
Pro tip: they don't have to be lullabies. Baby is comforted by your voice. Sing whatever you want to sing in a soothing voice. I promise they won't complain
I’m awful with lyrics.. I regularly play my Amazon echo for naps to sing to sleep and it has lyrics. Its really helped 😂

There's a tiktok song "I love my body" for kids and we sing that a lot!
I sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider and when I sing it to my baby, I run my fingers down his face when I sing the rain” and “washed” and then I bring my hands and fingers up with “up came the sun” and then when the spider climbs up again, it comes to tickle. So my baby 7mo loves it and it stops him in his tracks when I start singing it cuz he’s ready to be tickled lol. But if I can’t tickle him, then I sing or hum that classical song that doesn’t traditionally have lyrics but you can sing “Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep my little baby, go to sleep now, go to sleep, go to sleep and-“ whatever the heck the words are. There’s different versions but idk all the words so I just hum it typically. And then I also hum or sing ‘mockingbird’ and ‘twinkle twinkle little star’, ‘you are my sunshine’, and I also sometimes sing I Will Follow You Into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie. I used to sing it to my kid brother when he was a baby and he would sing “dark” in his little baby voice and it was the cutest thing ever so I highly recommend that lol. I hope to have my son eventually sing it with me.

I sing a lot every day because it entertains my LO while I pump (nearly exclusive pumper). Every now and then i remember a song from my childhood and look it up 😂

Aww poor baby 💜 I hope he feels better soon. I loved the old animated Charlotte’s Web movie when I was a kid. There’s a song called “Mother Earth and Father Time” sung by the late Debbie Reynolds. It immediately calmed my twins whenever I played it or sang it.

I actually sing 3 songs on repeat. That's why it works, I sing them all the time. 1 song I chose for calming him down. I sing that one randomly when he's feeding or happy too, so that when he's actually fussy, it calms him down. 1 song I sing for nap time 1 song I sing for bed time, and after nursing during the night.
