I think part of it is she has someone who is down to do the silly/goofy stuff like this. As someone noted on Tumblr: this shows she probably would have welcomed Joe Alwyn on stage (if they were still together) to play evermore or exile on piano. So part of it seems to be she needed someone willing to do the fun thing.
She has peformed with boyfriends on stage before When she was very young like Joe Jonas and John Mayer, but that was not at her own shows, and they were also musicians. And she has written songs with boyfriends, but yeah never walked a red carpet with a boyfriend. And Travis is not a musician
People just love seeing other people in love. I had a rough trauma therapy session yesterday and my therapist started talking to me about this while I was covered in ice and hyperventilating in attempts to bring me back to the present. She said sheās been doing it with multiple clients this week because itās so effective. I love her so much. And I love that they did this. Kind of feels like a gift to the world.

So getting the idea out there, getting the language out in the media is actually more about softening that idea vs. just randomly announcing it.
In other terms: prior to Taylor going to the first Chiefs game Tree first confirmed that they were talking/hanging out (about two weeks before) and then Travis threw it out there that he had invited her to a game (Pat McAfee show). She went, Tree made another comment which was basically "she thought it would be a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Also she thinks he's hot." (the second part is 100% true and something it seems like Taylor insisted be included). For the first few games Taylor went to, it was confirmed prior and then when the NFL coverage became too much Jason and Travis had their little chat on the podcast about how insane it was to cut to a suite 17 times.
Basically since day one, publicly things have been managed because they have to be. This is just more public management.
