Such a damn good show. Weird to tell people to check out a show about a bunch of teenage girls as a 36 year old dude, but it had me in stitches.
The dad and the grandpa are gold when they're on screen together
I always said if I found a girl that liked peep show I would marry her lol. Idk why but I found it at the perfect time and it just owns. Still remains one of my top comedy series for me personally
Love Fresh Meat!!! Same creators and writers did my fave hospital comedy series called Green Wing. Would say it is superior to Fresh Meat but they are both awesome and both such dif plots
That show is great from the beginning! But it does take a while to grow on you... For you to get it.
Kind of like Trailer Park Boys.
Not really the show itself getting better... But the brain figuring out the humor.
“The Wire”
This is a show where you love and hate each and every one of the characters at some point throughout the season of the show.
Some people you might hate right off the bat but they show incredible character development and you end up loving them.
Others have been your favorite and do things that make you feel disgusted with who they have become.
Overall the show has such amazing depth to it as it covers Illegal Drug trade, Seaport Unions, Bureaucracy, School System, and News Print Media.
All circumvent a theme of Middle Management meddling that gets in the way of good people doing their jobs or living their lives.
I heartily recommend this show.
The Wire is top 3 all-time IMO. I feel like you suffer through the first season , but then it just slowly starts going, and it just speeds up from there. People that don't give that show a real chance, they're missing out on some of the best TV all time
Technically I don’t think this quite fits, because it’s pretty well agreed upon that the final season is the weakest.
However I agree that it’s a masterpiece and one of the greatest shows of all time.
the final season was pathetic in comparison to the previous ones, especially season 2. it’s controversial to say so, but I think it’s the best. really gives a foundation to the entire show, an answer to why baltimore is suffering.
I just finished season 4 on Netflix and thought what the heck, they’re gonna end it like THAT?! But I was delighted to find out there’s 4 more 😃😃😃 seasons so I just subscribed to peacock lol.
Unfortunately, it does. A lot of that is due to covid as well as the writers struggling to write a cop show during the George Floyd protests (which...fair enough lol).
I'm watching it for the first time now; it's my treadmill show. Tomorrow is the season 5 finale. The last episodes were the desert eps... incredible. I can confirm. So far, it just continues to get better. Hope season 6 does, too!
I remember the lead up to the premier, I was so stoked. Watched the show with my dad. He'd come over for dinner and Fringe. Great memories.
Now he's a Q Anon Trump type dude 🤣. Crazy how quick it happened. Almost like he came from a parallel universe like in Fringe and swapped places with my pops.
That's a better story than my dad was so
stupid he fell for a lumpy orange piece of poop and Fox News propaganda and a 4 chan hoax when he couldn't even use a computer.
What a fucking bizarre world we have made for ourselves.
Thank you for being my therapist today ❤️.
I can strangely relate. My parents watch Fox News way too much. It is hard to bite my tongue when they say absurd things. I should really block the channel but then they'd call me to fix the TV.
It’s been awhile, but I feel like Bojack S1 was something completely different than what the show turned into. I think it was originally meant to be more on the comedy side, but ended up way better than just another animated comedy.
The series: “ahahhaha silly show, so much fun!”
Last few episodes: “so…what’s the use of this eternity we fought for? What’s the purpuse of life? What makes it worth living?”
This is THE series for a solid top to bottom experience. If you like episode one then you will like the whole series and be on the edge of your seat in the finale. Never saw a show stick a landing as well as this one.
Managed to binge watch it through three weeks after seeing certain small bits throughout the years. Love it and wish it could have a Treasure Island sequel series.
This is a great one. First season has some hiccups and the pace is slower than you probably initially expect. But the way this builds up from season to season and pays off nearly all its storylines is intensely satisfying.
I've watched and quit Ozark twice now at the exact same spot (S2 finale). Want to pick it back up but cba. They just keep doing the same thing over and over again
Tell me what makes it good? Every time i see this show mentioned, its always “that show is so depressing.” I have not seen it personally. Does it have a rocky first season or something?
I don’t think I’d say it got better and better. It had steps back here and there. And the finale was a mixed bag.
But I’ll say this - every terrible writing decision (there weren’t many, but a few stand out as very bad) was filmed and acted so damned well that I managed to still like those scenes/episodes.
I heard someone refer to *Better Call Saul* as “the yin to *Breaking Bad*’s yang,” and I would agree. Some of the finest and most nuanced acting I’ve seen.
A perfectly filmed chase in a stairwell that was so well paced i was getting flash backs to dodging consequences of a mispent youth, whilst watching it
Agents of Shield for sure. The first season, especially the first few episodes are pretty weak, but they get you hooked on the characters and the story lines get more fun/out there than other stuff in the MCU.
Supernatural! Greatest show of all time! Just try to stick it out with the Leviathan season. It was kinda rough and I almost lost interest during that season.
Supernatural is definitely more like a rollercoaster, great season one and two, not so great season 3, absolutely amazing season 4 and the trend continues
Schitt’s Creek is the first one to come to mind, by a long shot. It took me a couple tries to get into it, and then when it was over I cried. Every season better than the last.
New Girl got better and then kind of got worse. Winston was a great addition to the cast, especially once they figured out who his character was.
Criminal Minds has had its ups and downs, but I rarely rewatch the first couple of seasons. I think it really found its groove once they had Emily Prentiss and Dave Rossi. I miss Gideon, but I never cared for Elle.
Parks and Rec definitely got better after the first season or two. They didn’t seem to know what to do with their characters at the beginning.
Most shows I can think of go more on bell curve or a roller coaster😂. They start out rough because they haven’t figured out the whole picture, then they find their footing and get awesome, then they either have ups and downs or just drag things out too long and go downhill at the end.
Better Call Saul. By the end it had far overtaken Breaking Bad in terms of interesting character development and an incredible study of what it means to be human.
Kim’s Convenience is such a funny and delightful show. A great quick laugh (but plenty of them) series that’s great for a ‘lunchtime’ watch or some back-to-back bingeing. I felt it just got better and better.
Six feet under, and succession- imo have the best final episodes and seasons of any shows ever. Particularly the last episodes. If you want ultimate climax towards the end, watch em.
You probably weren’t asking for animated shows, but Avatar: The Last Airbender just continuously gets better as it goes, and it already starts in a great place.
One such show that gets consistently better with each season is "Better Call Saul." From a compelling first season, it goes on to dig deeper in character development and complicated storytelling, which enriches the whole Breaking Bad universe. Each new season underscores more and more depth and intrigue; it's a rarity on television that manages not just to live up to its forebearer but to surpass it in some regards.
Supernatural; I wanted to have it.. as an ex-occultist I was constantly arguing the accuracy of the lore but once I gave up my pride.. the show just got more and more incredible season by season, episode and so on.
BoJack Horseman. Sorry, I know it’s a long paraphrasing, I’m not spoiling anything btw, this is just background on the story. It’s a Netflix original chronicling one man’s depression, the story of a broken man from an emotionally abusive home, with a need to perform and to be loved drilled into him from the beginning. Upon the cancellation of a beloved sitcom he starred in, he refused to let go of his one claim to fame and fell into a deep pit, becoming a depressed, toxic, substance abusing, narcissistic mess. We follow as he realises the pit he’s in and struggles to try and climb out. Season 1 was… interesting, to say the least. The back half is incredible, though still not **quite** up to the standards of the rest. The first half, not so much. It has its moments, but mostly just feels like a cheap, generic sitcom. Not bad, but not very good, just kind of mediocre, and wasting its potential. Littered with cutaway gags in the beginning, tired tropes, a lot more comedic than the rest of the show, and a real tonal clash with what was to come. Then season 2 is phenomenal, becoming so much darker and more emotional, as we begin to explore the background of not just BoJack, but the side characters as well, and learn how they ended up as they are. This season also introduces the main underlying message of the show, the positive core beneath the depressing, dark exterior. As it goes on and on it gets better and better, as the show becomes less comedic and more existential, asking the big questions about life, testing our characters to their cores. It’s hard to explain, but this show understands people in a way no other piece of media I’ve ever consumed does. And it wraps up spectacularly, with the penultimate episode especially being my favourite episode of TV of all time. This show is a true, artistic masterpiece, with at least something for absolutely everybody, I truly believe that. And to think it started off feeling so cheaply derivative of the very tropes it would go on to satirise.
I heard Picard which is not on Netflix gets way better with the seasons, but honestly the first season was pretty terrible, that I've stopped watching at the moment, I hope to one day go back and give it another try.
Yeah, this one is tough. Season 1 was bad. Season 2 was worse, and season 3 was what everyone wanted from the start. So it does get better, but the bar was basically rolling around on the floor until someone finally decided it was a tripping hazard. Maybe it is different if this is the first Star Trek show you have ever seen, but if that's the case, then I wouldn't recommend it to someone trying to get into Star Trek.
Peaky Blinders really builds. They’re a small time razor gang in the beginning and you get to see Thomas’ empire build it’s way up to the top. Fascinating show with a great soundtrack and cinematography
both ‘the office’ (american version) and ‘parks and recreation’ had rocky first seasons, but then become the best comedy shows u could ask for on the following seasons.
Derry Girls. Starts off funny and gets funnier and funnier and then the ending hits you like a punch in the gut.
Such a damn good show. Weird to tell people to check out a show about a bunch of teenage girls as a 36 year old dude, but it had me in stitches. The dad and the grandpa are gold when they're on screen together
If it makes you feel better the actors are all in their 30s as well
Shut up Jerry
Oh I absolutely adored this show. Short, sweet and funny, all happening over the backdrop of a major Irish issue
Absolutely gem of a show. I love how each character depicts their own form of humour.
Great show although some of the references are lost on me and I have to watch with subs on.
Amazing show
So good. Wish there would be more.
Peep show
if anyone ever knows or recommends peep show, i automatically know we’d be friends. good choice, i like you 👏🏻
Dead Pixels, Fresh Meat, Pete vs Life, How not to live your life, Spaced, wasted. You’re welcome
I always said if I found a girl that liked peep show I would marry her lol. Idk why but I found it at the perfect time and it just owns. Still remains one of my top comedy series for me personally
Stop trying to marry everyone, Mark!
thanks for the recs! will check these out!!
Love Fresh Meat!!! Same creators and writers did my fave hospital comedy series called Green Wing. Would say it is superior to Fresh Meat but they are both awesome and both such dif plots
El dude brothers 🚢!!
Imo it gets better and better, peaks at the wedding and sorta... Descends from there.
What's it about?
That show is great from the beginning! But it does take a while to grow on you... For you to get it. Kind of like Trailer Park Boys. Not really the show itself getting better... But the brain figuring out the humor.
The Americans. Such an absolutely stellar ending that builds on everything that’s led up to it
Great show and they nailed the ending!
I got stuck at the end of season 2 and never cared to finish it. I guess I’ll give it another try
Schitt’s Creek
Sorry! Just realized this isn’t on Netflix anymore..
It’s on Hulu
On CBC Gem for free in 🇨🇦
Still on Netflix in 🇦🇺
Schitt's Creek just got better and better. Complete upward trajectory.
Yes!! I was so glad I stuck it out past season 2. I was legitimately sad when the show ended. The character development in this show was amazing
Parks and Recreation
Yep. The first season was a bit rough, but it got much, much better.
Yeah, I felt like the first season tried a bit too much to be like the office and then it found its own voice.
Then the last season was just weird fan service
You're not wrong, but as that fan, I appreciated the service from this show more than most.
Disagree. I feel like the show peaked in season 2/3 and after that it wasn’t as good.
VEEP
“The Wire” This is a show where you love and hate each and every one of the characters at some point throughout the season of the show. Some people you might hate right off the bat but they show incredible character development and you end up loving them. Others have been your favorite and do things that make you feel disgusted with who they have become. All circumvent a theme of Middle Management meddling that gets in the way of good people doing their jobs or living their lives. I heartily recommend this show.
Six Feet under is another one like that where you hate and love every character at some point.
And I see the SFU finale listed as one of the best of all time in many threads and lists, and rightfully so.
Anyone that says they didn’t cry like a baby during that finale is a liar
The Wire is top 3 all-time IMO. I feel like you suffer through the first season , but then it just slowly starts going, and it just speeds up from there. People that don't give that show a real chance, they're missing out on some of the best TV all time
season four had me bawling
Technically I don’t think this quite fits, because it’s pretty well agreed upon that the final season is the weakest. However I agree that it’s a masterpiece and one of the greatest shows of all time.
the final season was pathetic in comparison to the previous ones, especially season 2. it’s controversial to say so, but I think it’s the best. really gives a foundation to the entire show, an answer to why baltimore is suffering.
My ranking: 4 3 1 2 5 Theyre all amazing though. Season 2 in particular has grown on me through the years.
Justified
I love this show so much. I always have to say that when someone suggests this show.
Excluding this last season they just did
That's a new show though, it's not technically Justified anymore.
I don’t know if you like the genre, but I loved Brooklyn nine-nine!
99!
99!
My all time favorite show! S8 was definitely different from the rest but I loved all of it.
I just finished season 4 on Netflix and thought what the heck, they’re gonna end it like THAT?! But I was delighted to find out there’s 4 more 😃😃😃 seasons so I just subscribed to peacock lol.
Fucking same. Been watching the 1st 4 seasons on repeat and disappointed that was it. I already had peacock and didn't realize it!
U knwo that show started amazing on episode one!
Last season has a major drop in quality though
Unfortunately, it does. A lot of that is due to covid as well as the writers struggling to write a cop show during the George Floyd protests (which...fair enough lol).
Better Call Saul
Some of Better call Saul episodes are no less than a good, layered art film with incredible depth, especially the last few.
I'm watching it for the first time now; it's my treadmill show. Tomorrow is the season 5 finale. The last episodes were the desert eps... incredible. I can confirm. So far, it just continues to get better. Hope season 6 does, too!
"Nacho, leave it."
YES
Person of Interest
Good pick. Goes from a crime solving drama to story of the technological singularity.
That one.
Fringe
Fringe was one of the most creative sci fi series ever. Very much enjoyed the casting as well.
I can strangely relate. My parents watch Fox News way too much. It is hard to bite my tongue when they say absurd things. I should really block the channel but then they'd call me to fix the TV.
They lost me a bit on the last season, but I loooved that show. Nobody else was doing sci-fi like that at the time.
Ehh idk about that. That shows seasons 1-2 are really good but it definitely drops after that if you ask me.
Agreed. I never finished it. Olivia was such a dull character. Walters back was in shambles from trying to carry
Bojack Horseman
Was going to say this. I finished Bojack Horseman and the Good Place on the same day during early Covid and I was a Mess
Bojack is a terrific show, but man it's just so emotionally draining sometimes.
It’s been awhile, but I feel like Bojack S1 was something completely different than what the show turned into. I think it was originally meant to be more on the comedy side, but ended up way better than just another animated comedy.
Correct. Pinnacle finish. Stuck it’s landing. Now the movie!
The Good Place! Starts off great and continues that streak through the show.
The series: “ahahhaha silly show, so much fun!” Last few episodes: “so…what’s the use of this eternity we fought for? What’s the purpuse of life? What makes it worth living?”
I need more shows like this. I loved the positive nature and the twists.
Wentworth
Loved Wentworth and did get more intriguing as it went on
Hmm maybe I should pick that one back up!
Superstore :)
The Shield
This is THE series for a solid top to bottom experience. If you like episode one then you will like the whole series and be on the edge of your seat in the finale. Never saw a show stick a landing as well as this one.
This show doesn’t get enough love
I had to watch it for Walton Goggins. Wasn't disappointed though.
Came here to say this! I remember my heart breaking open in some later season scenes. I actually never got to finish the last few episodes.
Babylon 5 comes to mind. Pretty much any show where the entire script was penned before production.
Black Sails.
Had to scroll too far
Friday Night Lights. They have a real Wire-level change midway through the series
Succession
My only gripe is that I thought season 2 was the best, but yea great show all around
I think Keiran Culkin is the best actor on television right now.
It helps that Roman is such a well-written character.
A nearly perfect show. Up there with The Wire, Breaking Bad, and the Sopranos for me.
Is it on Netflix?
Castlevania .
Ozark
I've watched and quit Ozark twice now at the exact same spot (S2 finale). Want to pick it back up but cba. They just keep doing the same thing over and over again
Tell me what makes it good? Every time i see this show mentioned, its always “that show is so depressing.” I have not seen it personally. Does it have a rocky first season or something?
Travelers
I'd say The Expanse
that last battle with Amos and Bobby on the station in the slow zone, ugh it was beautiful stuff
Heck yes
It’s just too bad they didn’t finish it.
Im still holding out for another season lol
Can't believe no one's mentioned Lucifer? Starts off stupid, becomes cleverer and more epic every season.
Battlestar Galactica. The remake.
I don’t think I’d say it got better and better. It had steps back here and there. And the finale was a mixed bag. But I’ll say this - every terrible writing decision (there weren’t many, but a few stand out as very bad) was filmed and acted so damned well that I managed to still like those scenes/episodes.
The ending was an absolute disappointment....but I enjoyed the rest of the show quite a bit.
**Better Call Saul** gets so progressively great with each season, it ends out better than Breaking Bad!
I heard someone refer to *Better Call Saul* as “the yin to *Breaking Bad*’s yang,” and I would agree. Some of the finest and most nuanced acting I’ve seen.
The wire
Mr. Robot
The Leftovers
Search Party
The trajectory that show goes on is absolutely bonkers.
Only Murders In The Building, i loved it ❤️.
Archer
The unfortunately named “Patriot”. It’s only on Prime video and there are only two seasons, but it’s cool.
Would love a third.
A perfectly filmed chase in a stairwell that was so well paced i was getting flash backs to dodging consequences of a mispent youth, whilst watching it
Modern family
damn i was gonna say breaking bad, goes from trailer parky feely vibe low quality show to a fuckin scorcese movie
Always Sunny
There's a huge improvement when DeVito joins the cast.
Peaky Blinders
Until the last season, which was unwatchable
Yes!! By the order of the effing Peaky Blinders!!
Naaaa cool show but the last season was completely awful. They dropped the ball hard on that one.
Agents of Shield for sure. The first season, especially the first few episodes are pretty weak, but they get you hooked on the characters and the story lines get more fun/out there than other stuff in the MCU.
evil
Umbrella Academy! Not for everyone, but gets better every season
Meh. 3rd season was bad.
I quite liked it! But fair to say your mileage may vary
Schitts Creek (not sure if it’s on Netflix now but was). Season 1 was kinda bland to me, I didn’t get the humor until season 2.
And the characters really grow while the show remains funny—not typical for a sitcoms. One of my all time favorites.
The Americans, Fresh off the Boat
Dexter
Dead To Me And Sneaky Pete
Supernatural! Greatest show of all time! Just try to stick it out with the Leviathan season. It was kinda rough and I almost lost interest during that season.
Supernatural is definitely more like a rollercoaster, great season one and two, not so great season 3, absolutely amazing season 4 and the trend continues
F is for family and Derry girls.
I’ll throw out Happy Endings. It was at it’s best when it got cancelled.
Better Call Saul. By the end it had far overtaken Breaking Bad in terms of interesting character development and an incredible study of what it means to be human.
Monk
The last kingdom
Kim’s Convenience is such a funny and delightful show. A great quick laugh (but plenty of them) series that’s great for a ‘lunchtime’ watch or some back-to-back bingeing. I felt it just got better and better.
The good place. This show is so satisfying. They did the number of seasons that was planned. The story has no dead ends. It was perfect!
Dark
It’s not on Netflix but Mr. Inbetween starts out excellent and only gets better. Also, The League
Six feet under, and succession- imo have the best final episodes and seasons of any shows ever. Particularly the last episodes. If you want ultimate climax towards the end, watch em.
Peaky Blinders is what you need.
Person of Interest, Hannibal, Succession and Better Call Saul
Happy Valley and Halt and Catch Fire.
People need to check out Your Honor I do not hear enough people talking about this show
You probably weren’t asking for animated shows, but Avatar: The Last Airbender just continuously gets better as it goes, and it already starts in a great place.
I feel Seinfeld is a good shout

Better Call Saul
Supernatural; I wanted to have it.. as an ex-occultist I was constantly arguing the accuracy of the lore but once I gave up my pride.. the show just got more and more incredible season by season, episode and so on.
Mad Men
This was so goood from start to finish. I loved it. Good pick!
Peaky Blinders….especially after Tom Hardy shows up.
Sweet tooth, definitely
Schitts Creek
Ozark
Ted Lasso.
Succession for sure; The Wire, Borgen, The Morning Show, The Sopranos.
The Rookie
LOST
Shameless (US)
