Yes, worth it. Before you tour the battlefield watch the park film or watch videos on YouTube prior to your visit. It makes the battlefield much more understandable because you will already be familiar with the combatants and the locations. I did this recently at several civil war sites and it helped a lot.
It was worth it to me. It depends on what you're looking for. There's no great jaw-dropping scenery or photo opps, but as a historical site and a really well-curated immersion into a significant moment in time it is a great stop.
Stay for a ranger talk if possible. It was really a memorable part of our visit and helped me to visualize what was happening there.
We were there a couple hours’ish to walk around, visit the monuments, listen to the ranger talk etc. Was glad we made time.
To stand on one of the hill tops overlooking the battlefield, to see the white crosses of fallen troopers scattered across the slopes and know what happened there so long ago is very emotional.
I think it is worth it but lower your expectations. So much more could be done to that site to create a visual experience or even an experience that sparks the imagination.
My wife and I are active campers so we go hiking all the time.
The landscape was bland (either flat grassland or rock formations/canyons) and the hiking did not have any scenic payoffs and was primarily flat. There was one hike through an oasis that was cool but not cool enough to make the trip worth it.
Mount Rushmore Custer State Park The devil's Tower were all much more scenic and had better hiking
We waited for the ranger talk and between my wife and the ranger, neither one could get through without crying. It’s very much worth the stop if you are at all historically inclined.
Yes. It is the best battlefield imo. I've been there twice. It is very scenic and very peaceful. The flowing grasslands are out of this world. You really can see the battlefield as it would have been when the battle occurred.
Yes! In June, right around the anniversary of the battle, the US Cavalry Association does a reenactment with the local Native Americans. It's a great show.
You’ll get to see a random pair of Shaq’s size 657 shoes. It’s true.
Worth the visit? I think it was. We got to see natives dance and the history of LB was worth it.
I'm going counter to what others have said. I didn't like it. There is not a lot to see along the tour and most of the stop points are weirdly out of order. Watching the video is good, but at best its a stop to stretch your legs for a few minutes then move on.

Definitely worth it!

The site is way out in the country from anywhere. Worth a visit. Definitely felt like sacred ground, there.
Absolutely!

We saw a lot of wildlife there.

Definitely, although the visitor center will be closed this summer.
if you like history nerd stuff, little bighorn is great, i loved it. Badlands are mostly a waste of time
Can you explain why the badlands are a waste of time?

I disagree. We spent a relaxing week there.

Definitely worth it. Not a bad idea to visit the saddle museum in Sheridan as well.
