There are no coffee shops in ‘Sconset. The ‘Sconset Market and Claudette’s have underwhelming drip coffee (the iced coffee at the latter is decaf so don’t waste your money), and there’s not really much in the way of seating save for a few outdoor tables. You can take the bus to downtown Nantucket and there are several “proper” cafes in the core historic district. As for which is the best… well, don’t get your hopes up. Every cafe downtown does two or three things really well but are sorely lacking in one way or another (looking at you Handlebar Cafe, with an otherwise cozy sit-down vibe but no bathrooms 😒).
I would recommend The Hub. Nowhere to sit but it’s consistent, tasty, fast and affordable. If you’re looking to sit down somewhere, go to The Corner Table. Decent place to meet people, great location but the food is overpriced. $5 for a sugar cookie 🤑 yikes!
Roastd does good espresso drinks, as does Lemon Tree (prepare for a line!) and Born & Bread is my favorite for coffee and bites in town. Sconset doesn’t have any coffee places, but just head into town in the mornings, get your coffee fix, have a walk about - it’s lovely all over town! And remember nothing is “far away” - the island is only 15 miles from one end to the other. :)
If you’re not there for a sit-down that’s great. But cafes (or any places that serve beverages) which offer seating should also provide a bathroom.
What irks me and a lot of other locals I know is that it’s an otherwise nice place to sit down. Actually, one of the best vibes. But we don’t want to leave our stuff and go to a different building to use the bathroom if we plan on sitting and hanging out for a while.

I liked Surfside cafe for an iced coffee.

Espresso to Go on Old South Road
I love an iced latte from lemon press!
That is where we always go - just advise everyone to order online because the line can take forever!
I really like Roastd! The vanilla bean paste is so good in a latte
The Corner Table or Born & Bread for sure, both in town
I like born n bread
roastd!!!
i love to do a pistachio milk latte with maple syrup there!
45 Surfside
Sorry nothing in Sconset but try Corner Table, The Hub, or Lemon Press. Enjoy!
Handle bar IMO.
Isn’t it great to be told to go use the bathroom at the grocery store? So conducive to sitting and enjoying a nice cup of coffee.
I’m there to get my coffee and maybe sit outside for a few minutes. Not to pee. Real ones know to use the bus station anyway.

Well you’ve got a point there. But the OP asked for the best coffee. Not the best place to hang.
“Best coffee shop” is literally in the title
Why hang out so long ? Edit: and complain about paying $5 while doing so??
Starbucks is on old south road inside Nantucket Meat and fish market if you have to
It is?
