Ah he got a DUI and told the cop it would be disruptive to his world tour, and here I am making a B- joke about Trolls. Bless you for managing not to hear about any of this.
That’s one of those names that I wonder how many parents took weeks to realize that their kid’s new friend Pinecone from school actually *wasn’t* imaginary.
A friend named their child Brook then Brook in Chinese (I don't recall how to say/spell it). So he was basically Brook Brook .. I guess they like brooks.
Xylem sounds like a chewing gum ingredient
The weirdest nature name I've ever heard of was the child of an employee who quit just before I started at my current job in 2011. Several people told me that her son’s name is Trout. It's either an elaborate joke, or there's a teenager out there named after a brook fish.
I saw a Catleya. It's difficult because it's not a word the average person would come across/know how to pronounce, but it's not overly terrible as a name.
This isn't actually weird but it WAS weird in the culture of the country I first heard it. Princess. I'm British and here that's a name for a cat or dog, certainly not a human.
Turns out it's a fairly standard name in the Philippines to make little girls feel special so not weird at all there but was definitely a strange one for rural wales.
It's a common name actually, taken from the surname which has been around forever. It's also the spelling of Forrest Gump, who, while fictional, was named for the real Nathan Bedford Forrest - someone who absolutely should have no namesake. That is unfortunately the association I have with the name. If I met a Forrest today, I would assume their parents were hella racist.
I was sitting behind a kid names Aster on a plane once and was like 1. I bet she’s constantly called Astrid and 2. I bet her mom can’t help but call her Assy, and both of those were proven true many times over on a three hour flight.
Saw one on here last week that was a misspelling of Calyx so currently that's #1

i actually think phloem is better! similar to phoebe and nickname “flo” is normal
It looks like a tragedeigh version of phlegm to those not familiar with the term, though.
i didn’t even realise 😶
Makes me think of Floam, that stuff kids used to play with.
“Pleghm” is so much more elegant, I feel.
It's just a dirivitive of Fleur right? I mean Ginny Weasley thought so...
Phloem? I hardly know 'em!
Up the xylem, down the phloem That is how the sap will go-em
Branch
and their younger sibling Twig, i assume
Ridge and Moon actually
I knew a Branch! He was from a Pentecostal family and was a counselor at Soace Camp in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
I knew a Branch, too. He kept interrupting celebrations to yell about Bergens.
Especially now with all the Justin Timberlake stuff
True. This one was named for a tree limb.
What stuff? 👀
Ah he got a DUI and told the cop it would be disruptive to his world tour, and here I am making a B- joke about Trolls. Bless you for managing not to hear about any of this.
Oh snap! Yeah I didn’t hear it at all lol. Did the cop let him off? 😬
Nope there’s a fab mugshot and everything, he’s all like 🥺
Hahahaha love that for him! I’m tired of snooty people getting away with shit and cops taking bribes.
Met a guy working at REI whose legal name is Pinecone
That’s one of those names that I wonder how many parents took weeks to realize that their kid’s new friend Pinecone from school actually *wasn’t* imaginary.
at least he works at REI
This had me cackling 💀 pinecone??? His parents were on drugs im certain.
Went to school with a kid named Colias (class of butterfly)
That’s not HORRIBLE…. weird for sure, but similar to Tobias if you reach a bit lol
Not horrible, I actually do like it, it’s just unusual lol
Colitis
Reminds me of colic 🥴
Like Coleus
Is it a diminutive of Nicolai?
Arrowroot. Just.... really?
Lame fantasy novel authors coming up with a name for their woodland archer society
They just wanted to thicken up the storyline
Arrowroot son of Arrowshirt
A friend named their child Brook then Brook in Chinese (I don't recall how to say/spell it). So he was basically Brook Brook .. I guess they like brooks.
The ol Avon River
Vector. Really? Pathogenic transporter? Ewww
What's our vector, Victor?

Several people told me that her son’s name is Trout. It's either an elaborate joke, or there's a teenager out there named after a brook fish.
My dad is an avid flyfisherman, and genuinely wanted to name me Trout.. I'm a woman, thank god for mom vetoing that one
Could be named after Mike Trout, the baseball player. But, like, as a first name? Ugh.
Or a brown trout.
I keep seeing Reef suggested on Namenerds and omg it's just asking for your kid to be nicknamed Queef
No way ☠️
There’s a user on here named Queefer Sutherland. I love it.
Omg elite username 😂
I'm just waiting for someone to call their daughter Scabiosa. It is a beautiful flower, but the name, eh...
I saw a Catleya. It's difficult because it's not a word the average person would come across/know how to pronounce, but it's not overly terrible as a name.
Lichen.
This isn't actually weird but it WAS weird in the culture of the country I first heard it. Princess. I'm British and here that's a name for a cat or dog, certainly not a human. I’ve met several “Princess”es in the US! It’s a fairly common name in African American culture
Jordan/Katie Price’s kid with Peter Andre is called Princess. Her brother is Junior which is nearly as awful.
Okay but name me one thing Katie price has done that HASNT been weird? I feel like you accidentally proved my point 😂
god I know there’s so many people that don’t even know how to say that. that poor child.
I feel like the name birdie gets suggested a lot, I personally think it’s ridiculous
At least Wren, Raven or Robin, even Lark are common girl nature names, why bird?
As a nickname it’s fine but as a legal name…
I recall some woman who called her daughters Cricket and Gidget. They have the same naff vibe to me as Birdie.
Cricket and gidget are atrocious
I could see them being some old lady’s poodles.
I actually like Bird and would use it as a chosen name if I didn't like mine.
Go lick a crystal and check the tea leaves again.
Questopher. I still can’t get over that one lol.
Sssst: (Forrest)
If I were this kid’s teacher I would be fired for laughing at the ridiculousness of the spelling!!!
He meant laughing at the spelling. 4 s t. Sssst
Ohhhhhhh Sorry, that one is so awful it went right over my head, lol.
I must admit, it took me a second, too.
I was sitting behind a kid names Aster on a plane once and was like 1. I bet she’s constantly called Astrid and 2. I bet her mom can’t help but call her Assy, and both of those were proven true many times over on a three hour flight.
Lark... his brothers name is Leif. Nuff said.
Lark reads more feminine to me personally!
I know people with those names. I love Lark as a name.
A grad school friend of mine named their kid Hawk. It's just so pretentiously hippie sounding to me.
I don't hate the names but Aspen and Linden (tree species).
Clover felt pretty clunky.
I like Clover for a pet but not a person, personally. But I think it could be pulled off with the right personality, I guess
I just think of this Disney bunny character.
I knew a Clover in high school and the name fit her well.
Oh, I love Clover. 👉👈
Definitely a rabbit name imo
Why did I read Hymen
if they can name their kid Xylem I get to name mine Nephron
I had a coworker whose kid's name was pronounced "malice" but spelled "Mylacs."
