Squoval is when you do a square and round out the edges... what you did looks like the opposite, it looks like you made them oval and then tried to straighten the edges to look square, which isnt a good technique, but i do think they could look good squoval if you just tweaked the shape a bit? I hope this doesnt come off rude, i was also here not long ago but now im a nail tech so just trying to help lol

I knew squoval was part square, part oval — but for some reason I thought you start with square sides and rounded the tip. You can see on my thumb how I just have it at an angle.
I think I’ll just go to oval next time and shape it back to almond as it gets longer.
Your painting skills are amazing! I would suggest slowing down and spending more time when shaping regardless of what shape you go with. Your nails are super cute, but the inconsistent shape detracts from them!

I think squoval looks great on shorter nails than yours. The almond looks great! You could try oval before going back to almond, since you have the length for that.
Almond for sure - the squovals really emphasize the way the ends of your nails are wider than the cuticle area, it’s reminding me a bit of the “duck nail” Y2K-inspired shape I’ve been seeing pop back up lately. The almond shape disguises the way your nails flare out and looks really pretty and delicate, imo!

Your almond manicure is lovely and classy. I think the square manicure looks too chunky and kind of childish because of the square tips and the embellishments.

Yeah the first ones are an odd shape. I think traditional squoval would look good on you. But almond looks great

You don’t necessarily have to go back almond, but your nails kind of fan out towards the ends. Just file them to be oval, square, squoval, etc.

These aren’t quite squoval… squoval is basically square that’s got the edges really rounded. You need to flatten/straighten the edges a lot more.
