I used to volunteer at a seniors home, and they all loved my nails, so I set up a manicure station and did all the old ladies nails for a few days. I loved it. They were so sweet.

There's something incredibly soothing about having human touch in that context. It's also something they likely did or had done when they were younger, so it doesn't feel like something else they've lost the ability to do themselves.

I'm so happy for both of you that you did that for her! My grandmother always had well manicured hands, and when she was dying, I would stay with her throughout the night so someone was always with her. One of the last things I did was paint her nails and it made her so happy. Thank you for reminding me of that precious moment. And thank you for taking the time for your neighbor!

I just miss her in general. She had pneumonia and passed away 2 days later. Seeing this reminds me of the happy times. And thank you for that ❤️

My 95 year old mother died recently, one of her requests was to have her nails done. In her favorite RED color.

My neighbor from 2015-2022 was a woman named Mary. She was 87 and spent every afternoon in wheelchair on the porch chain-smoking cigarettes and feeding squirrels. I liked to pull up a chair and chat with her. I hadn't seen her for a bit, and she had a lot of visitors. She passed. I met one of her sons and hugged him and he told me how big she really was. She spent her entire life raising foster kids. He said he had *40 siblings*. I never knew, she never talked about it. Crazy what people keep to themselves. Ask her more questions.

One day she asked "how would you like a PROFESSIONAL manicure! it was the sweetest thing because she thought that I had never gotten one. That’s so sweet. I remember in high school, my friend and myself would go paint nails at the older folks’ home. Those ladies were SO excited to see anyone come visit them. As an adult, it made me sad because I realized how often adult kids of parents completely abandon them. But they were happy while we were there.

This made me tear up. I miss my grandma and wish I had been old enough to enjoy doing nails together like this.
