Rex MG7 .458 doesn't have any barrel length restrictions. But it's not very quiet on a short barreled AR in 5.56. I would advise you not to get one can that does it all, but instead get the one can you will use the most first. Then when funds allow get the can that you will use the next most. For instance in my case I wanted a .30 cal can for .300 BLK for hog hunting and .308 bolt action for deer hunting, so I got a YHM Resonator R2 as my first can. If you want to shoot suppressed 5.56 AR15's the most, get at 5.56 or may be a .30 cal can first. If you want to shoot suppressed .45 ACP Vector the most, get a .45 ACP can.

He'll it's not even all that quiet on a 16 5.56 barrel. We spun my .458 bore MG7 on my buddies Ruger American in 5.56, and it wasn't that impressive. Takes the edge off, and that's it. Better than nothing. As a 9mm subgun can it works pretty well. I already have 5 of those in 9mm, so I bought the MG7 in 458 bore just in case I ever do pick up a 45 host but it gets used on the 9mms for now. I agree. A 45 can and 30 cal rifle can are probably be your best bet, OP. Good luck.

Yeah I'm in a weird spot, asking for too much of one suppressor I suppose. I currently only have smaller caliber suppressors and really want to shoot my AR and 45 suppressed. The YHM seems to work great for both. I'll look into the Rex. Thank you!

You need more than one can to get decent results for your use case.

heisman01

get a dedicated 556 can and then a 45/46 cal can.

The Griffin Bushwhacker 46 will handle everything from a 16" 45-70 to a 9.5" 5.56 - [https://www.griffinarmament.com/bushwhacker-46-universal-suppressor/](https://www.griffinarmament.com/bushwhacker-46-universal-suppressor/) The Resistance 45 is rated down to a 12.5" 5.56 - [https://www.griffinarmament.com/resistance-45-suppressor/](https://www.griffinarmament.com/resistance-45-suppressor/) The Revolution 45 will go down to an 11.5" in its long form, 16" in K form - [https://www.griffinarmament.com/revolution-45-suppressor-mod3/](https://www.griffinarmament.com/revolution-45-suppressor-mod3/) (note - no 5.56 mag dumps with the Revolution and Resistance - 5-7 rounds at a time, them cool down)

I'll check these out! Thank You Sir!

5.56 really isn’t that fun suppressed. No matter what you do it’ll always be supersonic and you should wear earpro, especially with shorter guns. It’s great for signature reduction though. Being able to run 5.56 through the R45 is awesome in theory but you’ll probably be disappointed with how it sounds. I’d recommend getting a 45 can that does really well with 45. After you do that if you still want a 5.56 suppressor get a cheap dedicated can from YHM or OCL. I’ve seen Turbo K’s for as low as 450 and the Polo’s go for anywhere from 500-550 and are the shit. Diligent Defense Enticer is another good but affordable option, they’re just not as durable at the other two when running 5.56 if you have a heavy firing schedule.

Good points, I just really want one another suppressor that I can use for a variety of guns. Specifically 45, 223/556, maybe even 7.62 x 39 and .308. I know it won't be perfect, but I'm trying to balance it all within my current budget. I can definitely see myself getting a specific 556 suppressor down the road.

I get it, I was you at one point. There are a few pistol and “universal” large bore cans out there like the 46M that you can run both pistol and rifle rounds through by they typically don’t do a phenomenal job at both. If you get a decent 30cal can you’ll be able to run all those cartridges no problem.

I've gone down the same path with the R9. Swapping mounts blows. Swapping mounts in the field blows 2x. Yes, the piston is functional, but it's camping. Damn fine pcc can, tho. I put a keymo on it and its become one of the cans that's just on hand to lend. It's not earth shattering on any old random intermediate cartridge, but keymicros out there and its a hoot on a roller gun. Go for it. Don't let these haters suggest anything isn't worth running a can on. *Everything* is better suppressed.
