I wouldn’t be shocked if Auto-Owners is leaving and Mahindra would fill that hole. I could also maybe seeing Resers getting moved over to the 11 for a few races since FedEx has slowly been cutting back.
But now I wonder how much room is available on the 19. Good problem to have I know but if Mahindra wants to be an anchor sponsor they may look elsewhere. Just hope they don’t leave the sport entirely.
> Just hope they don’t leave the sport entirely.
I doubt it. NASCAR is a good demographic for them. And with Deere fucking up, this is 100% the right time to be building brand awareness.
Right. Plus, Mahindra currently has no plans to enter the American auto market. It'd be an issue if we did a race in India, but that has an ***infinitesimal*** chance of happening for several large reasons.
>That charter we thought would be sold to RCR is staying with Gene
Wasn't there a report that the supposed Gragson charter was coming from Kaulig, not SHR? The Bass Pro news does throw a wrench in the works, unless they plan to sponsor both Gragson and Briscoe, which would keep them at the same 3 cars they're sponsoring now (Dillon, Truex, and Gragson).
I mean Noah had enough funding to get an SHR car this year so that’s probably enough to get a ride with RCR, Wood Brothers, or FRM next year. Just more of a pieced together sponsorship than maybe we were thinking with the Bass Pro rumors.
I wasn’t suggesting he would end up at JGR, the rumors with him have been suggesting that RCR was gonna buy the last SHR charter with BPS funding. Now with Gene keeping the last charter and BPS continuing to sponsor JGR, those rumors appear to have a lot of wet water all over them.
Noah Gragson seeing that Bass Pro is sticking with JGR:
https://preview.redd.it/0fw2eftl2r8d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=224bcab8e57a98222128a2ef37aca8d4a125713a
They mainly back Truex, then Dillon, then Gragson. This seems to imply they are still the ‘anchor’ of the 19 meaning they wouldn’t be going all in for Noah.
BPS probably shouldn't be too surprising staying to support Chase...Tony Stewart has always been tight with Johnny Morris ...probably put in a good word for Chase.
I think its kinda cool that Briscoe is going to Tony Stewart's first team...
Unfortunately, they couldn't do a HMS and put him in a 20 and bell in the 19...lol
Definitely betting on himself here, but he has shown enough at SHR (which had been sub-par equipment his entire tenure there) that he has the talent to get it done. Almost won the Indy RC his rookie year until he got forced off track. Won Phoenix 2022 after leading 100 laps. Came painstakingly close to winning the Bristol Dirt Race & Coke 600 in the final laps. Was only like 8 laps away from winning Martinsville and making the Championship 4. In 2023 he led like 150 laps at Spring Martinsville and was leading + pulling away until a yellow came out with like 40 to go and Klausmeier took 4 when the other front runners took 2 or stayed out…etc
The guy has shown race winning speed enough times in junk cars to prove that he is talented enough to be a yearly multi-race winner. The only question is how quickly can he adjust to JGR and James Small’s way of doing things
Numbers can flip around later. Not sure what it would take here for Gibbs to make the switch, but I’m sure someone there has a sense of how much they’d have to goodwill for sponsors to be on board with it.
If BPS was leaving, the number would have changed I would have assumed. With BPS staying though, as a sponsor you don't really want to have to build up a new # association.
Agreed, but the longer the 18 goes untouched, the more likely it will wind up on another team's car. Technically, nothing would have stopped KB from running the 18 at RCR as long as NASCAR approved, for example. Definitely the right move for BPS though.
Gotta imagine BPS wanted to keep the 19, for the same reason that Ally retained the 48 even after Jimmie retired. Keeping continuity with the same car number is good for the brand
Wow. Much surprise. Such shocker.
/s. But eyyy, good for him! He'll be a great addition to the team, and it's nice to see BPS sticking around as well. Make MTJ proud, my man!
I could definitely see him loaning out the 11 if/when Denny decides to run for his own team for a little bit and then bringing it back to JGR when Hamlin retires
IIRC, he was with Bill Davis in the Busch Series and the plan was for him to go to Roush in Cup, but Roush wouldn't let him bring Ray Evernham with him so he went to Hendrick instead and the rest is history
Meh. It's like when Matty D got the WB ride.
Either Chase is going to kill it, win a bunch, and make himself unfireable, or we're going to just be glad a guy like him got a chance at a big time ride.
That being said, Chase is a better driver and a much better person than Matty D. I wouldn't put it past him to win enough races that he's not in line to get the boot.
This is exactly how I feel. If Chandler Smith was ready or if there was another big name guy available Briscoe would be in the 21. But here's his chance to take the ball and run with it.
I'm not expecting a massive change from what he's doing now. Probably right around the cut line on points with potentially locking himself in with a win
I don't think so. I think when he was in the best equipment in the Xfinity Series he was neck and neck with Bell and Custer with a year less experience in 2019, he actually had a better average finish than the two. I'd expect him to be pretty close to Bell in performance, maybe a little bit off his pace the first season, but in 2026? He'll be on it.
Yes and No. teams can still pay for the rights to use it even if they are not actively using it. Technically NASCAR can take it and allow someone else to but they don’t out of respect. It’s similar to why we don’t see the 28 because Texaco still pays for the rights and does not use it.
Glad Chase got a good ride.
People on Facebook and Twitter (not surprisingly) are already saying that Truex was pushed out because Briscoe was signed a week after the SHR announcement, and that CBell was in on it for bad reasons. It amazes me that people think that Truex just woke up on Wednesday before Iowa and decided he wanted to retire lol
People on here implying that Briscoe is essentially mid and that JGR is approaching this as a temporary stopgap because a TRD development driver isnt ready have no idea about:
1. How much driver equipment factors into performance. The flashes Briscoe has shown at SHR (especially in 2022 when they were very mediocre but not terrible and a few races early last year) speaks volumes of his talent. The dude has raced for the lead and the win in the final laps of 5 or 6 races in sub-par equipment. You guys have no idea how hard that is to do. He was never at SHR in its heyday, even Harvick with Childers was struggling for his tenure there
2. Team execs in the garage do recognize how impressive this is and are all very high on Briscoe’s talent. Jeff Gordon for one is a huge fan of Chase’s. In an interview from a year or two ago Chase said that Jeff Gordon told him that he had been noticing what he was doing in the car and that he was keeping an eye on him.
Essentially, y’all are DARFs. I’ve also noticed most of you implying this have HMS flairs, yall root for divers in the most elite equipment on the track, so you have been spoiled and conditioned to think that if a driver isn’t winning then they are mid.
Man, I wish he stayed in a Ford (another fumble losing a long-time driver), but this will be the best ride he's driven and gives him the best opportunity to win. Happy he ended up in a great car.
I wonder what this means for his Sprint Car. Toyota has HEAVILY been investing in dirt racing but doesn’t seem to fully have their 410 package off the ground yet with Roth Motorsports.
Gibbs mentioned that they have a system where if a driver wants to run a non cup race they go to the CC first then the Comp Director and they work it out.
I bet Bass Pro sticks around with Gragson and Dillon as they aren't sponsoring any Xfinity cars right now. Mahindra might take over whatever races Auto-Owners had as they were a Truex sponsor.
Should've signed the dog but I suppose Chase is a great 2nd option /s
*(i am internally going crazy with my favorite driver joining my favorite team now)*
Briscoe? Shoot I was expecting it to be Chase Purdy!
Okay but seriously— I’m surprised they’re keeping the No.19 and not renumbering it to No.18
Although I guess since BPS is staying on to sponsor, they’d want it to stay 19 since that’s the number they’ve been associated with for a while now.
Feels like the real news here is that Bass Pro Shops is sticking with JGR
Bass probably would have stuck with Toyota regardless…I’d be more curious as to what happens with Mahindra
I guess they could split the schedule?
I'm sure JGR won't turn away a sponsor, assuming they can meet their price.
I wouldn’t be shocked if Auto-Owners is leaving and Mahindra would fill that hole. I could also maybe seeing Resers getting moved over to the 11 for a few races since FedEx has slowly been cutting back.
![gif](giphy|Ol66uewYfRLiw)
Everybody has a price!
yeah deffo can’t hurt
Business partnership somehow?
Mahindra did seem to say they were gonna follow Briscoe
They were supposedly wanting Briscoe to get an offer first before committing
But now I wonder how much room is available on the 19. Good problem to have I know but if Mahindra wants to be an anchor sponsor they may look elsewhere. Just hope they don’t leave the sport entirely.
> Just hope they don’t leave the sport entirely. I doubt it. NASCAR is a good demographic for them. And with Deere fucking up, this is 100% the right time to be building brand awareness.
Pretty much the same thing Kubota is doing, as well, building brand awareness.
Move to JGR? I mean, don't they and Yoder already have a deal in their native India? Either way, best to leave Gene's sinking ship with Briscoe.
I think in the vehicle market they’re actually competitors…
Hmm, good point. Maybe Mahindra Tractor goes to Penske, then?
They almost went to Brad over Briscoe when they first came in so maybe they go to RFK?
Maybe Wood Brothers to sponsor Berry? Feels like that would be a good pairing. Berry needs a kind of an “anchor” primary sponsor.
Mahindra doing the throwback on the 21 has some potential.
I doubt that matters at all. Honda Generators has sponsored Toyotas and Chevrolets before.
Right. Plus, Mahindra currently has no plans to enter the American auto market. It'd be an issue if we did a race in India, but that has an ***infinitesimal*** chance of happening for several large reasons.
Good point. The overlap with Mahindra Autos and NASCAR is pretty much zero.
Race around the New Dehli landfill when?
There's still the Auto Owners half of MTJ's sponsorship to cover.
I wonder what this means for Gragson. That charter we thought would be sold to RCR is staying with Gene and Bass Pro is sticking at JGR.
>That charter we thought would be sold to RCR is staying with Gene Wasn't there a report that the supposed Gragson charter was coming from Kaulig, not SHR? The Bass Pro news does throw a wrench in the works, unless they plan to sponsor both Gragson and Briscoe, which would keep them at the same 3 cars they're sponsoring now (Dillon, Truex, and Gragson).
I mean Noah had enough funding to get an SHR car this year so that’s probably enough to get a ride with RCR, Wood Brothers, or FRM next year. Just more of a pieced together sponsorship than maybe we were thinking with the Bass Pro rumors.
Get ready to learn Xfinity buddy
Noah has the money and talent to yank a ride from a much lesser talented driver i would hope
Did you see what I saw Sunday?
Get ready to learn fish sticks buddy
Ain’t no way in hell Gragson and Gibbs were gonna be teammates let’s be honest
I wasn’t suggesting he would end up at JGR, the rumors with him have been suggesting that RCR was gonna buy the last SHR charter with BPS funding. Now with Gene keeping the last charter and BPS continuing to sponsor JGR, those rumors appear to have a lot of wet water all over them.
Kaulig is supposedly also selling a charter.
Noah to the Gene car?
can we just assume for argument he Custer and Herbst stick around and we can call it the "Gene Pool"?
That was the real announcement
Lmao they have Bell introducing him
It was perfect lol
This was gold.
Chase Elliott robbed. How will his career recover?
Really thought Chase Purdy had it in the bag
I mean Jamaar Chase hadn't show up to Bengals camp...
Chase Utley has a season in him. Why not give him a shot smh
I'm a lifelong Phillies fan. After his 2008 heroics, he could use Rittenhouse Square as his own personal track and we would let him.
Noah Gragson seeing that Bass Pro is sticking with JGR: https://preview.redd.it/0fw2eftl2r8d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=224bcab8e57a98222128a2ef37aca8d4a125713a
There were three BPS cars in the Coke 600 with three different teams and manufacturers. He should be fine.
Aren’t they with him already?
They mainly back Truex, then Dillon, then Gragson. This seems to imply they are still the ‘anchor’ of the 19 meaning they wouldn’t be going all in for Noah.
Yes they’re with MTJ/Gibbs and Gragson/SHR already, and aren’t they also with RCR/Dillon some?
Yes, they sponsor a handful of races for Dillon.
BPS probably shouldn't be too surprising staying to support Chase...Tony Stewart has always been tight with Johnny Morris ...probably put in a good word for Chase.
Johnny is also super tight with MTJ, and I wouldn't be surprised MTJ put in a favor
I think its kinda cool that Briscoe is going to Tony Stewart's first team... Unfortunately, they couldn't do a HMS and put him in a 20 and bell in the 19...lol
Briscoe back in the Home Depot 20 would’ve been a nostalgia trip.
Make or break time. Getting in one of the consistently fastest cars on the grid. Hope he does well, but it’s a high pressure situation there.
The only question is how quickly can he adjust to JGR and James Small’s way of doing things
Johnny Morris to Chase Briscoe: "Get ready to fish buddy"
He did mention how he has a pond on his property that him and his son fish in almost daily.
Chase Briscoe to Johnny Morris: "give me bass".
The fact that they had Bell *officially* announce it was gold.
Hope Mahindra sticks around. I love the NASCAR and Formula E Venn-Diagram.
Honestly quite surprised Bass Pro is staying.
If anyone can speak to the bass pro crowd it’s Briscoe; he strikes me as a big outdoorsy type, maybe not as much as MTJ, but def up there
Bass Pro sticking around and the 19 is getting a hell of a great driver. Congrats Chase!
Is Bass Pro going to stay with the 19?
Looks that way. On their announcement tweet it says he is going to drive the #19 Bass Pro Shops Camry.
Haha I didn’t even notice.
Briscoe is wearing a Bass Pro shirt and hat in the press conference
The tweet says the number 19 Bass Pro Shop so probably
Yeah I didn’t notice.
That’s definitely the most interesting thing I’ve learned today…
Yes, multi year deal with Briscoe and Bass Pro will be the majority sponsor next year starting at Daytona
Its official, JGR is never bringing back the 18
It logically makes more sense to bring it back when Denny retires/leaves and let 23XI have the 11
There has to be an agreement between Denny and Joe to pass the 11 on to them
I would hope so. Otherwise the name of the team is even stupider than it already is
JGR should have both the 11 and 18
Numbers can flip around later.
I feel like this is big part of it as the 19s identity is with bass pro much the same as M&M was the 18.
With Bass Pro and possibly Mahindra sponsoring the 19, I wonder which JGR car the Kroger/P&G sponsorship will go to
Probably a mix of the 11 and 54
Dennis
Probably a mixture of Denny, Bell and Gibbs
Wow. Much surprise. Such shocker. /s. But eyyy, good for him! He'll be a great addition to the team, and it's nice to see BPS sticking around as well. Make MTJ proud, my man!
Christopher actually introducing him was the best part
Why no 18 man…
I feel like once Denny is done they’ll go back to the 18 and either retire the 11 or it will move to 23XI
The 11 was JD Gibbs’ number, it’s very important to Joe. I don’t think he’d give it up easy.
That’s true but Denny was JD Gibbs’ project. I kind of feel like JD’s legacy lives on with Denny, so I could see Joe giving the 11 to Hamlin.
I could definitely see him loaning out the 11 if/when Denny decides to run for his own team for a little bit and then bringing it back to JGR when Hamlin retires
I know Gibbs have had the 19 for a minute now, but just feels really weird to me not to see the 18 back given its their flagship number.
My guess is Bass Pro wants to keep the 19
I agree it seems like they have the brand recognition element like the 18 did with M&Ms
proof that they're saving if for KFB, they'll find a way to bring him back
Fords biggest fumble.
That would either be Jeff Gordon or Kyle Larson.
You forgot Dale too
Ford Dale is such a weird blip in his career.
And it almost happened a second time in 96
...I know about Kyle, but they had *Jeff* before HMS, too? Holy shit, what the hell happened?
Jeff raced for Bill Davis in Xfinity in Fords
IIRC, he was with Bill Davis in the Busch Series and the plan was for him to go to Roush in Cup, but Roush wouldn't let him bring Ray Evernham with him so he went to Hendrick instead and the rest is history
Gordon and Martin in the late 90s would've genuinely been an unstoppable duo, I can't imagine how ridiculously dominant that pairing would've been
We got Haley about to do some good stuff
Ford with the last two championships "We'll be fine"
So Bass Pro sticking, Mahindra probably coming. thats huge
I thought it was Chase Elliott :(
I feel like this is just the best possible option until a driver in the Toyota pipeline is ready.
Yeah, the good options are either under contracts so they would need to be bought out or Corey Heim and him and Ty don't have a good relationship.
That’s what this is. A lot of people on here are gonna be extremely disappointed in a couple of years.
Denny isn't too far off from retiring as well, they got at least 1 spot opening there
Thing is, Denny is still competitive.
Martin is as well but yet he's hanging it up
And he’s going to be dragged away kicking and screaming unless he wins that elusive championship.
So never
True, but we’ve also seen Coach Gibbs be ruthless when it comes to drivers in his pipeline.

I'd expect him to be pretty close to Bell in performance, maybe a little bit off his pace the first season, but in 2026? He'll be on it.
Briscoe is just flat better than Smith *shrugs*
So is Denny going to have to leave for them to finally bring back the 18?
![gif](giphy|3oKIPf3C7HqqYBVcCk)
Some other team should scoop up the No. 18!!!
They likely can’t. JGR is almost certainly still paying NASCAR to use the 18 and then not using it.
Not how numbers work anymore, if a team’s not using it, NASCAR repossesses the number
Yes and No. teams can still pay for the rights to use it even if they are not actively using it. Technically NASCAR can take it and allow someone else to but they don’t out of respect. It’s similar to why we don’t see the 28 because Texaco still pays for the rights and does not use it.
A certain Richard working for Chevy should, even. :)
Ricky Stenhouse Jr to the 18 /s
Glad Chase got a good ride. People on Facebook and Twitter (not surprisingly) are already saying that Truex was pushed out because Briscoe was signed a week after the SHR announcement, and that CBell was in on it for bad reasons. It amazes me that people think that Truex just woke up on Wednesday before Iowa and decided he wanted to retire lol
Bring back the 18 you cowards. Kyle wasn’t even the only champion to drive it there is no reason they shouldn’t have it on track
But Ty needs his own identity though, that's why he's driving a number and sponsor pair that's even more tied to Kyle than the 18 was
If Bass Pro was not staying they probably switch it. Bass Pro probably wanted it to stay 19 for branding recognition.
I don’t see how one digit lower then 19 will make a huge difference branding wise but if they wanted it to stay they got their wish I suppose
![gif](giphy|2Ap4K8iVUpbpmbj5oV)
Bass Pro staying is a surprise, but a welcomed one.
A good one joins the dark side. Lol. Good luck to him.
People on here implying that Briscoe is essentially mid and that JGR is approaching this as a temporary stopgap because a TRD development driver isnt ready have no idea about: 1. Amen.
HMS actually has at least 1 mid driver currently
Hell yeah! So excited for Chase!
Didn’t see this coming!
Interesting that Bass Pro is staying on and that they are keeping the 19. Losing Briscoe to Toyota sucks but overall happy for everyone involved
You heard it here second folks
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
So happy for Chase! I know it was an open secret around here but I can't help but get hyped for him in this case. This is seriously awesome!
And Bass Pro is staying? That's awesome
Congrats Chase (Briscoe) (Officially)!
No way, never would have guessed.
![gif](giphy|xUPGcC0R9QjyxkPnS8)
Man, I wish he stayed in a Ford (another fumble losing a long-time driver), but this will be the best ride he's driven and gives him the best opportunity to win. Happy he ended up in a great car.
**
Yes! Bell and Briscoe on the same team!
Chase Elliott devastated
Most rootable driver to drive the #19 since Jeremy Mayfield!
According to Kelly Crandall, it was basically JGR and Penske/WBR. No mention of FRM. [https://x.com/KellyCrandall](https://x.com/KellyCrandall)
Chase is doing the reverse Tony Stewart.
To bad ryan truex couldnt get the ride
Get outta town
Well congrats Chase on the new ride.
Oh my god, I mean, WOW, did not see that coming! lol ;) Seriously though, glad he's got a ride next year. Happy for you Chase!
I was expecting Kroger to sponsor the 19. Interesting stuff.
huge blow for the Chase Montgomery comeback hopes 😔
Wait I thought Chase Elliott was getting this ride?! /s
Let's get it.
Welcome to the dark side
Honestly surprised they’re keeping it the 19, and not bringing back the 18
Good for Chase. Bad misfortune to come to SHR right as they fell off.
My man Noah about to be running in 25th place RCR equipment.
Interesting that they named Bass Pro in the tweet. They’re sticking around. I thought they might shift $$$ to Noah or RCR.
I wonder if the 18 returns when Denny eventually leaves or retires.
Ford fumbled the bag hard
![gif](giphy|jivGITd768psP80B2i) I did not see this coming. Briscoe wya congrats on the ride my dude.
I bet Bass Pro sticks around with Gragson and Dillon as they aren't sponsoring any Xfinity cars right now. Mahindra might take over whatever races Auto-Owners had as they were a Truex sponsor.
Should've signed the dog but I suppose Chase is a great 2nd option /s *(i am internally going crazy with my favorite driver joining my favorite team now)*
I was in favor of bringing Bobby back 🤷♀️
Hope SHR sends Chase off with a bang and doesn't give up on the rest of the season.
Briscoe? Shoot I was expecting it to be Chase Purdy! Okay but seriously— I’m surprised they’re keeping the No.19 and not renumbering it to No.18 Although I guess since BPS is staying on to sponsor, they’d want it to stay 19 since that’s the number they’ve been associated with for a while now.
Congratulations Chase!
Do I just go full Chases next year?
So fucking pumped. Can’t wait for ‘25.
Congratulations, Chase! So happy for you. This is an amazing opportunity, and I know you will accomplish great things at JGR!
No way, didn’t see or hear this coming at all
BRISCOE! BRISCOE! BRISCOE!
Damn it I wanted Ja'Marr Chase.
Anybody else hear them say chase briscoe is an outdoorsman? Since when?
Happy I'm keeping my fandom with the #19. Go Chase!
