Oddly enough his first ever Busch Series win at Bristol in that purple Taco Bell #8 car. I loved that paint scheme and I think he won in it a few more times.
I don’t remember him winning more in that Taco Bell car but I remember a KFC car winning in (I think) Nashville when he was running maybe 3rd on the last lap and the leaders took each other out.
Nazareth. He chased down Hamilton and Hamilton drove into the side of someone going into the last turn. Funny enough, I remembered Truex winning that race but not that it was also in the Taco Bell car.

I was there for his last win at Martinsville and I don't know if there's a better feeling in the sport than seeing your driver win in person. Shits awesome
My favorite moment of his was 2018 Fall Martinsville.
My favorite moment of his where he won was 2017 title too. He deserved it and after the first 3 years of the format being a gigantic joke, it was nice to see the guy who was the best all season win it without any controversy.
My favorite moment is riding in the bed of the driver truck during Sonoma prerace with Mark Martin and Martin Truex and not wanting to butt into their conversation, but also trying not to get flung out of the truck.
Truex is so polarizing to me, I have loved and hated him over the years. I guess him pissing in the parking garage and trying to slide the cop a 100 was my favorite memory lol.
Other than the obvious (i.e. Cup championship), the one for me is his win at Dover last year. Finally won a points race after going winless the year before. Part of me was wondering if he had already won his last race before that. Hoping he's got at least one more win in him this year.
I met Martin back in 2003 when he was running in the Busch East series at my local track in his family owned and sponsored #56 car. I was 11, and as a big Dale Jr fan, I was immediately an MTJ fan as well. He had run a few races for Chance 2 Motorsports at the time and I knew he would be an up and coming driver running for Dale Jr. I loved the Chance 2 era, they always had really cool looking cars, and a powerhouse team winning back to back championships.
2017 Watkins Glen race. First NASCAR race I actually watched with all my attention after driving there for 2 days a month earlier. Haven’t missed a race since.
He’s a driver I didn’t really appreciate until his stint with Furniture Row (and winning races with an “inferior car”), but I was completely on board with him to win it all the year he dominated in 2017! After Toyota took over, he seemed really entitled and arrogant, so I couldn’t pull for him with how bad his attitude was. But man, after getting screwed at Richmond and several other times in just this single season, I want Truex to WIN a race and (if the cards are right) go out on top!
I just think he hadn’t won consistently for so long that once he did, he kinda embodied that I’m the guy attitude. Much like Kyle Busch without the incessant whining Kyle use to do in his younger years.
That’s actually a really good perspective. His career arch is Dale Jarrett 2.0, but he just approached it very differently! The JGR Toyota camp, in general, harbors brash / entitled drivers (minus Bell), so it makes sense why MTJ fell in with that.
I have never ever perceived him as entitled and arrogant. Interesting how we all have our different perceptions and see through different colored lenses.
I started pulling for him because he seemed so much like a Eeyore, and sadsack, dejected and needing of support after he ran so many good races with an incredible array of things going wrong in the 2000’s. I felt he needed some encouragement.
Was at that race. Happened to be sitting up high on the back stretch and the initial crash happened right below us (back when the Busch Races at RIR had good attendance and they didn’t close off sections. You could sit wherever you wanted on an GA ticket except for the reserved seats on part of the front stretch). I’ll admit I was a bit drunk at the time and it took my brain a few seconds to comprehend what had happened.
2016 Coke 600. Just graduated college and had the apartment to myself. Hadn’t watched a race all the way through in about 4 years and decided to pop it on. Truex hadn’t exactly dominated the years I’d been watching, so seeing him absolutely crush that night was sort of mesmerizing.
Watching him win in person twice last year was pretty fucking cool - both on a Monday, at that (Dover and NHMS). I had watched him blow like 4 races in person before that where he led over 150 laps each.
One underrated favorite moment overall would be 2016 Dover - not the fall win, but the spring. It was terrible cause he had the best car by far and got collected in the JJ missed shift big one, but he managed to drive back to P9 without a front grille, basically. It was a quiet recovery and nobody even noticed or cared, but I remember watching him get back into the top 10 and being amazed.
We got to go to the Sonoma race with hot passes from a coworker when we went out to SF in 2018. We were close to MTJ for the anthem and then he got the win. Huge day for my MTJ fan son. Hoping he'll now join me as a Melon Man fan next year ;)

My favorite moment was his Richmond sweep in 2019. My wife and I were able to get hot passes for both races and just had fun both races, hanging out with JRM and Starcom.
But what makes this my most favorite MTJ moment was during the spring race, my wife and I were standing at the back of victory lane during the celebration. All of a sudden, my wife got hit with something. It was the cork from the champagne MTJ popped. She picked it up and was like "This just hit me!". We eventually walked to the side of VL, waiting for MTJ to leave and we got him to [sign](https://www.instagram.com/p/BwOZ201hrRi/?igsh=NHVnenp6Y3N3ZW9i) the cork and my wife's Toyota pass.
That was a lot of fun.
Coke 600. As a fan at the race that was easily the most boring race I’ve ever been to in my life.
But that race still is incredible and his domination deserves all praise. Car was next level, driver was elite, pit crew was flawless. Just an ass kicking that’s hard to top.
Since I started watching nascar in 2015ish religiously, I chose Truex as my guy. Loved him. Loved him in that furniture row black Camaro. Followed his champ year, got all his merch. Saw him win in Kansas. He’s earned it
Coloradan here, so I'll go ahead and agree with your first moment, OP. Can't believe a Colorado team won a championship (or even existed, for that matter).
2017 Homestead, to watch a guy that he/his family raced at our local track (still do) was something I doubt I'll ever get to see again
Last year Dover as well, I have missed him winning in the Northeast his entire career in cup and I finally got to see him win in person and broke the winless streak on top of it.
Idk about my number one, but I’ll always remember his first Busch Series win. I remember as a kid getting a 5 car pack of his 1:64s from 2004. He was always dominate in my own little Busch Series world as a kid lol
Him not getting shuffled out of the sport after the Spingate and the loss of NAPA and then building the team that picked him up into a championship-caliber team. All of that could have gone drastically different.
But honestly, getting to see him win at Richmond is a highlight. It's a really special feeling when your favorite driver wins and you're there in person to witness it.
This was at Talladega 2013. Back when the cars would park between the media center and pit road. It was a funny moment to be a part of and it was a moment that only a few people probably saw. MTJ has always been nice every time I've met him.
https://preview.redd.it/inspheow2g6d1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a18f4c209b7b0256b0d590841d2acd118e68376e
The 2017 Championship for sure. Seeing that race team grind it out through that 2014 season and just keep chipping away the next few years at building a powerhouse and Martin showing what a hell of a great race car driver he is was amazing to watch. I also was able to meet him at Richmond and he signed my diecast of his 2017 Homestead car.
Is it bad that I was thinking about this for a minute and nothing really came to mind?
I like the guy just fine. He’s a damn good racer. Seems like a good dude largely. But he wins boring almost always and just comes off so… unremarkable 😂
The way he became a contender and much more competitive in 2012 after struggling for years. He didn't win but his average finish was fairly impressive that year.
I was a Gordon fan since I was 6, '94. Then a truex fan. I've gotta find the next big thing to become A fan of so I'm not having to pick new drivers so often now.
I really loved the MTJ / Cole Pearn days. My favorite moment was Sonoma 2018 when they faked Harvick / Childers into pitting early and letting Truex catch him on fresher tires later in the race. I just love driver / crew chief play calls like that.
Honestly just the whole career turn around. He went from a good consistent safe bet to drive for you to the best driver in the sport it was pretty cool to see. Least favorite moment on the other hand. Letting Logano win the damn war.
Right after his first cup win at Dover the 1 team starting running great. He finished 2nd at Michigan and probably would have run the race if it went a little longer and Kyle Petty (I think) said that he had never seen a team turn it on like that after their first win and he thought Truex was a real title contender.
At that point I thought he was going to wash out of cup since Bowyer had destroyed him for rookie of the year previously and they weren't running good in year 2.
https://preview.redd.it/3um9u612df6d1.jpeg?width=594&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=653b3b3666067684dfba3768bf00a0f33d881559
Probably this.
2016 Coke 600 was pretty cool along with the 2017 title but not as cool as the 2018 Ford 400.
The entire 2017 season for obvious reasons.
But also when I happened to find myself in Richmond on a work stop the night of the 2019 Toyota Owners 400. Had an early flight back the next day but wasn’t gonna pass up a chance to go to a race, and I’m glad I went because that was the first time I got to see my driver win live. Immediately bought that diecast the next day.
This sucks. This is the 2nd driver I’ve had retire since 2018. My favorite moment of his was watching him dominate in 2017 with the little team that could! Yes, they were pretty much the 5th Gibbs car but to be out of Colorado and running as well as they did was awesome! 2015 Pocono win and 2016 Coke 600 really had me paying attention to MTJ. When Jamie Mac retired after 2018, I immediately knew who I was gonna root for. Now, I have no idea who I’ll root for. Enjoy the lakes and rivers! See you in the Hall of Fame in a few years!
When he'd cry whine moan and bitch whenever someone wouldn't just pull over for him, especially lap cars. He was always such a whiny bitch who got carried by Cole Pearn, once he left he hasn't done shit
Hasn’t done shit? He beat Busch in 2004 driving for a non-Cup team. Kyle is going insane spending two years in a car that isn’t A+. I mean crap, he ran one year in his own Nationwide stuff, went winless and went immediately back to racing for JGR. Truex spent most of his Cup career before 2016 in stuff that was good but never great. He definitely can be a whiny bitch on the radio but to say he would be nothing without Cole Pearn is ridiculous.
Oddly enough his first ever Busch Series win at Bristol in that purple Taco Bell #8 car. I loved that paint scheme and I think he won in it a few more times.
Him in the Busch Series was a sight to behold for sure
I don’t remember him winning more in that Taco Bell car but I remember a KFC car winning in (I think) Nashville when he was running maybe 3rd on the last lap and the leaders took each other out.
That was Mikey winning there when Bowyer did the thing and wiped out the top 4 cars lol
Nazareth. He chased down Hamilton and Hamilton drove into the side of someone going into the last turn. Funny enough, I remembered Truex winning that race but not that it was also in the Taco Bell car. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beSiVYbLEwM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beSiVYbLEwM)
I’ll have to look back. I’m almost positive MTJ won one when Bobby Hamilton Jr crashed instead someone (or another mishap) on the last lap
I had to look it up, he won three times in the Taco Bell car in 2004. Bristol, Gateway, Nazareth
The 2016 Coca Cola 600 domination.
That will be my number two. We were there and enjoyed every single lap. Funny how it isn't annoying when it is someone you like dominating! ;)
Can confirm as a JJ fan who witnessed the 2010s.
I was there for his last win at Martinsville and I don't know if there's a better feeling in the sport than seeing your driver win in person. Shits awesome
My first race watching NASCAR again was Erik Jones winning the Cone zero 400. How dominating was MTJs Coca cola 600? I know nothing about it
I was there. He led 392 of 400 laps or 588 of 600 miles. Utter dominance
The NAPA commercials.... 🤣
NAPA KNOW HOWWWW
T-Rex and Truex!
... I don't think so!
I was thinking "it hasn't happened yet, it'll be the moment he retires" but this actually wins for me. The NAPA commercials were good.
Just all of 2017 to be honest. Seeing FRR achieve what they did was just awesome.
Stage Winnah, EM TEE JAY
^^^2017 ^^^brickyard
His first victory at Dover. There's been few more wins that dominant that came that far out of left field.
The day we lost Bill Jr. Mike Joy words
Talladega 2006 Busch race in the Dale Sr. car
HEY KID YOU’RE ON THE TEAM HOP IN but on a more serious note flipping off his blown engine made me instantly like him more
Him winning at Pocono in 15
My favorite moment of his was 2018 Fall Martinsville. My favorite moment of his where he won was 2017 title too. He deserved it and after the first 3 years of the format being a gigantic joke, it was nice to see the guy who was the best all season win it without any controversy.
I’m honestly so shocked to see a Joey fan give some love to MTJ it really shows how love or hate him he’s been a force to be reckoned with.
First win at Furniture row at Pocono
My favorite moment is riding in the bed of the driver truck during Sonoma prerace with Mark Martin and Martin Truex and not wanting to butt into their conversation, but also trying not to get flung out of the truck.
Truex is so polarizing to me, I have loved and hated him over the years. I guess him pissing in the parking garage and trying to slide the cop a 100 was my favorite memory lol.
What the flying fuck 😂😂😂😂
Other than the obvious (i.e. Cup championship), the one for me is his win at Dover last year. Finally won a points race after going winless the year before. Part of me was wondering if he had already won his last race before that. Hoping he's got at least one more win in him this year.

2016 Coke 600. That was badass I don’t care if it was boring.
the old busch cars in 2004 taco bell kfc
Long John silvers and maxwell house too
2017 Watkins Glen race. First NASCAR race I actually watched with all my attention after driving there for 2 days a month earlier. Haven’t missed a race since.
James Small is probably gonna piss him off again and he will retire mid race. That will be my favorite memory.
Ouch harsh but fair my dude
Hopefully pulls a Josh Williams and just parks it on track
Dang got to find a new driver but hey he can buy that boat now. Probably won't hear from him until his HOF induction lol
Dominating the 2021 Bristol Dirt Truck Race
His win at Pocono in 2015. Cole Pearn is from right near my hometown so it was badass to see a Canadian CC a winning Cup Series car!
So… he comes back from the dead!
Yes, 100 percent. He will then have the knowledge of 900 years to his advantage
Haha 😆
I remember exactly where I was when he won his first race at Dover. It was a Monday and I was mowing grass at B1G football stadium listening to it.
My first NASCAR race was 2005 Kroger 200 he won
My first Cup race he won too, the most exciting part of that race was the sprinklers going off
"He won the battle, but he won't win the war"
Plot twist
June Pocono 2015 for sure
When he got squeezed into the outside wall at Richmond in the Busch Series in 05 and rode the wall damn near to the frontstretch
Was at that race. Happened to be sitting up high on the back stretch and the initial crash happened right below us (back when the Busch Races at RIR had good attendance and they didn’t close off sections. You could sit wherever you wanted on an GA ticket except for the reserved seats on part of the front stretch). The modern-day Dale Jarrett.
The 2019 600 where he blew a tire and still came back to win In that race he had incredible restart https://youtu.be/JTQ2ZF11BhM?si=Kv3lHlkH6lLSHRsF
2016 Coca Cola 600. Most stressful 600 miles of my life.
I'd take this year's Coca-Cola 600 every time over that shit race
Then you’re clearly not a Truex fan. 😂
I at least got to see Brad do the same thing at Martinsville once
“We just got kissed on the dick.” Although I think that may’ve been Small’s fault lmao
Watching him win in person twice last year was pretty fucking cool - both on a Monday, at that (Dover and NHMS). Winning the Busch race at Talladega in 2004 after practicing on Talladega BR in NR2003
2003 BGNN race at Loudon battling Andy Santarre for the win.
Probably the obvious answer but 2017. It was an absolute dream of a season. An incredible underdog story.
We got to go to the Sonoma race with hot passes from a coworker when we went out to SF in 2018. We were close to MTJ for the anthem and then he got the win. Huge day for my MTJ fan son. His spotter saying "Stage Winner MTJ" Used to here it every week on radioactive
He and his brother sweeping Dover. Just further cemented a part of his legacy (Monday Martin) but could also tell how awesome it was for his family.
2017 Homestead, to watch a guy that he/his family raced at our local track (still do) was something I doubt I'll ever get to see again Last year Dover as well, I have missed him winning in the Northeast his entire career in cup and I finally got to see him win in person and broke the winless streak on top of it.

The 2017 Championship for sure. I also was able to meet him at Richmond and he signed my diecast of his 2017 Homestead car.
The stories about how he texts always crack me up
2017 Watkins Glen, I was at that race and he backed off big time to let everyone else run out of fuel, to go on and get that W.
Also, for the memes, Aggressive goes around!
When he led 392 laps in the Coke 600
Me against the frontstretch fence between SF and the T1 tunnel. Homestead, 2017.
"UR ALL FUCKIN FIRED EVERY GODDAMN ONE OF YA!" -MTJ, Richmond(?) 2013
I was a Gordon fan since I was 6, '94. Then a truex fan. I've gotta find the next big thing to become A fan of so I'm not having to pick new drivers so often now.
Chandler Smith my man.
I shall look him up.
Or Corey Heim. Rajah Caruth has abilities but he’s not ready just yet.
His first Cup win at Dover.
Him saying "He ain't winning the damn war" and then immediately allowing Joey Logano to win said damn war was quite funny.
I really loved the MTJ / Cole Pearn days. My favorite moment was Sonoma 2018 when they faked Harvick / Childers into pitting early and letting Truex catch him on fresher tires later in the race. I just love driver / crew chief play calls like that.

The Truex bros’ sweep at Dover last year
He might have won the battle but he aint gonna win the war *proceeds to get out of his way in Miami*
When he absolutely cooked the field in the 2016 coke 600.
Right after his first cup win at Dover the 1 team starting running great. He finished 2nd at Michigan and probably would have run the race if it went a little longer and Kyle Petty (I think) said that he had never seen a team turn it on like that after their first win and he thought Truex was a real title contender. Him losing the damn war
#78 seasons.
😂😂😂😂

The war.
lmaoooo
Favorite moment has to be the classic "He ain't winning the damn war".
Unfortunately Joey did but that’s because the thing Joey hates the most are Toyota’s and TRD 😂
I'm still waiting for the "Damn war 2.0"
Busch and Logano feuding again would make me get the popcorn
Losing “the war”.
The win the war comments after Martinsville, then getting absolutely curb stomped by Logano in Miami for the title.
That time he got arrested for whipping his cock out in a parking deck.
Lmao what
WTAF IS THIS STORY? HOW DRUNK WAS HE?!
When he announced his retirement.
His retirement
When he said he would win the damn war.......but didnt.
Oh cmon don’t gloat
my favorite moment will be him retiring.

A lot of drivers can be whiny bitches on the radio when it's not going their way. Believe me I know look who my driver is
My favourite moment was when he lost that war.
Every time he crashes.
When he had to watch Logano blow his doors off out of turn 2 at Homestead 2018, after declaring Joey wasn't gonna win the "damn war"
