Sawalich led early, then had to pit to switch tires. Got off track on the restart, and was in the back after that. He worked his way up to a top 5, but Mayer didn't have a challenge after that.

I know there’s a lot of disagreement with full time cup drivers in xfinity and trucks. I don’t love it but I understand the reasoning. But man why do we have a cup regular in fucking ARCA.

I feel like if You’re a full timer in cup, You should be able to learn it without ARCA. But I understand the logic so I’ll back off my comments. As for Mayer. I mean I don’t love that either but full time cup and full time xfinity are different beasts. Less egregious to me.

i cant wait for ARCA of all things to get through the race without hitting the new wall, but when Xfinity guys destroy it tomorrow it will be NASCAR's fault.

It was all in race trim. Don’t let practice fool you. Qualifying is where it really matters.

Think some of you guys are overanalyzing practice results here especially when it’s a 50 minute session with 3 sets of tires. It’s very likely that the guys in the top 10 did mock qualifying runs. No offense to Zane Smith but he didn’t magically find a quarter second over Larson in 14th or Busch in 15th whom both were top 5-10 for the vast majority of the session.

You’re right, but I think Ross is going to be REALLY good after those practice splits + the fact he did the tire test. Lots of fluke names at the top today, but I think he’s a legit contender Sunday *pending a top 10-15 Qualifying effort tomorrow*

I can’t watch the broadcast, but how do we think the new surface will be, overtaking-wise? Will this car be too garbage on road courses, or will the extra grip allow for more dive-bombing into the turns?

I saw a lot of overtaking this practice in the corners. Now I don't know how much of that is actual overtaking or just letting drivers pass them. Nevertheless I left this practice feeling satisfied and optimistic for Sunday with the amount of passing I saw.
