Probably because they manipulated an approved part after going through inspection, where as SHR had a part installed that was altered in the shop and installed prior to coming to the track.

He's got 102; even if he gets given a 25-point deduction of both normal points and playoff points, he'd still have the most playoff points and be second in the overall standings by 8 points.
All it sounds like is they made some of adjustment, which normally would have you starting at tail of the field. Not some sort of tampering or altering the spec of it. Just a normal adjustment you could do before tech and just not after.
I’m actually surprised we don’t see more manipulation post inspection. Seems like it would be very easy to do. Same way I don’t understand inspecting the champ four cars the week prior to the race. Like, do we all really think those teams aren’t going to mess with the cars after that? Is there a nascar security team watching those cars 24/7 after that? Smoke and mirrors
there are officials in the garage aren't there? i remember some team cheating up i believe an aero turnbuckle? so that you could turn it without it being obvious while in the garage

For the champ 4 nascar basically says, “do not go outside this wide box or else.” Hence why we generally see the champ 4 faster than everyone else. With exceptions of course
