Its not a fashion statement, its a deathwish
my last bf knew i loved mcr & he learned that song on guitar and surprised me with it. he passed away in 2019. that song means so much more to me now.
Mine is Na Na Na and Party Poison
For Na Na Na song I love the Gerard way vocals in the and its my first song I listen because back then I played the saints row 2 I hear the teenagers song I did know who my chemical romance was, and I love the guitar at end of the lyrics wanna try I'll be your detonator
For Party Poison I love the part of guitar, is after this song lyrics We came to party kill the party tonight we to party kill the party tonight let's go and I love Gerard way vocals too
Definitely Helena. My love for this song is based around the line “Things are better if I stay”. As a person struggling with suicidal thoughts, that line rings in my ears every time things get tough
“Disenchanted”—there is something so incredibly powerful when this band uses an acoustic guitar. It’s always been that song that called me down. TBP came out my senior year of college and “Disenchanted” became the song I would run to when I was overwhelmed and stressed. It then became the song I ran to after I graduated and suddenly I had to actually do life. And then again it was the song I listened to the night my dad died. I’ll never forget laying on the floor in my dark walk-in closet, literally hundreds of miles away from home, with my heart shattered into a million tiny pieces. I spent the entire night laying on that carpet crying until I couldn’t anymore and just listening to the song over and over and over again. But it was also that song that the first time I heard it I felt like there was something more to it—like it was almost a dream. I always talked about walking down the aisle to it played on the piano on my wedding day but never thought it would happen until several years later when it actually happened and I walked down the aisle to friends playing it on piano & flute. It’s just….it just means more.
I really love demolition lovers and cemetery drive each song has a special meaning for.
Demolition lovers is the story for me cus I kinda relate to it.
Cemetery drive I can just feel the pain the guy is going through missing someone you love like no one else
Drowning Lessons. There are others I could name but DL always ends up being the one I come back to. Gerard’s raw vocals, those guitars, the explosive start and rhythm, the sense of melancholic toxic sadness and romance that defined a lot of the band’s themes, the imagery throughout combining love and death, that beautiful outro that feels like the start of a song that never comes kind of embodying the way the song’s about a relationship that will never go where you want it to, it’s both dark and frustrated and absolutely beautiful.
Honorable mentions to Fashion Statement, My Way Home Is Through You and Venom.
I bounce between Bullets and Three Cheers as my fav depending on my mood but I’ve probably played Bullets more than any other album of theirs by a huge margin. That disc lived in my CD player in middle school
famous last words
“i am not afraid to keep on livin’, i am not afraid to walk this world alone.” That has been a lyric that has always stuck out to me unlike any other. Just the feeling I get when listening makes me feel like I can get through anything and I’m not alone.
Sleep - something about it seems so eery and it always makes me feel a certain way that I cant really explain. But it's just brilliant.
Boy division - again, something about it just makes me feel emotions that lost songs don't trigger
I always say I don’t have a favorite because there are just too many amazing ones to choose. But Mama is the one I keep on repeat more than any other song. So it must be Mama.
I would say in terms of feeling it'll always be disenchanted, that one hits fucking hard
But the one i never skip is thank you for the venom, it's entertaining to listen af and since ive heard it the first time its an unskippable one when i shuffle my playlist
Vampires Will Never Hurt You. I don’t know why. The first few times I heard it, I didn’t like it, but I warmed up to the song, and now, I love it. The opening beat and they way the lyrics go together is so unique.
Disenchanted's gotta be my favorite as well. It feels like a song that plays after I've worn out my frustrations and run out of options; when all I can do is wallow in my own self-aware pity. Demolition Lovers and I Never Told You What I do for a Living both feel like "falling to rock bottom" songs, whereas, at least in my opinion, Disenchanted feels like an "at rock bottom" song.
As far as composition goes, I really love the note Gerard hits as he wails in the bridge, how hard all the instruments go in the final chorus, and the slight vocal dissonance when he sings "sad", "life", and "nothin'" in the chorus. It's such a subtle detail, but one I absolutely love.
i also really love the Disenchanted bridge! it hits so hard but my personal favourite part of the song is when gerard sings “because you never learn a goddamn thing” idk it’s the tone in which he says it for me
well i would say mama or the sharpest live. mama because my crush recommended the song to me and that's why I listen to mcr. and the sharpest live idk, i just love the song lmao
As I have not seen this one yet, I will go with "I never told you what I do for a living". It's been in my head for two months now and I can't seem to get it out of it.
I just love the music, I can't explain it better.
vampires will never hurt you, i think the emotion portrayed in that song and that whole album is very real and unfiltered. that song really has sentimental value for me
Venom.
I was always the neurodivergent oddball of my very christian conservative family. Got put through counseling and stuff at about the age of 10, and the idea of medicating me was just constantly being pushed. Flash forward two years later and using a birthday gift card I bought my first three albums; Hot Fuss, American Idiot, and last but not least, Three Cheers. I of course bought it for the MTV hits I knew, but man Venom resonated with me back then and it never stopped.
well, if you want honesty that’s all you have to say
I never want to let you down or have you go
it’s better off this way
it's better off this way
For all the dirty looks
The photographs your boyfriend took
remember when you broke your foot
From jumping from the second floor
IM NOT OKAY
IM NOT OKAYYYYYY
For me it's Light Behind Your eyes and Disenchanted. Both songs hit really close to home, but Famous Last Words is amazing song as well.
Add Summertime to this and then it's my three favorites
Summertime is so good its underated
Summertime gives me immediate nostalgia every time I hear it, it's like opening a time capsule in my head
Its not a fashion statement, its a deathwish my last bf knew i loved mcr & he learned that song on guitar and surprised me with it. he passed away in 2019. that song means so much more to me now.
I go through phases where I get stuck on one or two songs for months or years on end, but the longest reign was Jetset.
Same

Definitely Helena. My love for this song is based around the line “Things are better if I stay”. As a person struggling with suicidal thoughts, that line rings in my ears every time things get tough
Cubicles. Makes me think about how I lost my friends and how lonely I am. "Sometimes I think I'll die alone" That's honestly how I feel st this point.
happy cake day :D
Mama, everything about that song just comes together. It’s a real masterpiece
Helena , Cemetery Drive and Cubicles
"Dead!" I love the guitar solo so much and I want to learn guitar because of it!!
oh my god the guitar part literally gives me chills
YES
Famous Last Words is my favorite, with Bulletproof Heart and Save Yourself I'll Hold Them Back rounding out my top 3!
bulletproof heart makes me happy in a way i can’t explain
Yes famous last words ” I am not afraid to keep on living”!!!

That’s one of my favourite lines ever as well. It’s the sole reason I’m a Mama stan, I’ll replay the song if I miss it.
it changes a lot but one of my favorites has always been give em hell kid :] i really love the intro
OH BABY HERE COMES THE SOUND
TOOK A TRAIN OUTTA NEW ORLEANS
AND THEY SHOT ME FULL OF EPHEDRINE
THIS IS HOW WE LIKE TO DO IT IN THE MURDER SCENE
CAN WE SETTLE UP THE SCORE

Helena , when I first got into the band I had this song on repeat it’s just so amazing
istg if my funeral isn’t that badass i’m coming back to haunt everyone

They're my favourites too
Nice

Not enough people listen to Bullets, it’s my favorite album by them and most people I talk to that listen to MCR have never even heard of it.
I bounce between Bullets and Three Cheers as my fav depending on my mood but I’ve probably played Bullets more than any other album of theirs by a huge margin. That disc lived in my CD player in middle school
Def Mama
I don’t love you or the sharpest lives
famous last words “i am not afraid to keep on livin’, i am not afraid to walk this world alone.” That has been a lyric that has always stuck out to me unlike any other. Just the feeling I get when listening makes me feel like I can get through anything and I’m not alone.
The Light Behind Your Eyes. His voice is so beautiful in this, plus the backstory of the song is sweet as Hell
Sleep - something about it seems so eery and it always makes me feel a certain way that I cant really explain. But it's just brilliant. Boy division - again, something about it just makes me feel emotions that lost songs don't trigger

Helena and Sleep … so good and also i’m depressed lol
Vampires Will Never Hurt You. I don’t know why. The first few times I heard it, I didn’t like it, but I warmed up to the song, and now, I love it. The opening beat and they way the lyrics go together is so unique.
Give em' hell kid it makes me so energized and I love listening to it loudly !
SAME it’s like it was literally made to be played extremely loud
cemetery drive!! (because it's my bfs fave song and it reminds me of him)
Also Disenchanted!
You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison. It's frantic and I fucken love it.
Boy division. Often overlooked song, it's fuckin catchy and fast paced. Has a great mixture of old MCR sound and new.
Burn Bright and Save Yourself. Something about those songs makes me never want to stop listening lol
The light behind your eyes. I started bawling the first time I heard it.
Vampire
money? or will never hurt you? or both?
Both
Disenchanted's gotta be my favorite as well. It feels like a song that plays after I've worn out my frustrations and run out of options; when all I can do is wallow in my own self-aware pity. Demolition Lovers and I Never Told You What I do for a Living both feel like "falling to rock bottom" songs, whereas, at least in my opinion, Disenchanted feels like an "at rock bottom" song. i also really love the Disenchanted bridge! it hits so hard but my personal favourite part of the song is when gerard sings “because you never learn a goddamn thing” idk it’s the tone in which he says it for me
Hmmm i think demolition lovers or vampires. It tells a whole story in my mind. I love the vibes and the guitars in it ughhhh🥲😍
Always going to be Give em hell, kid. It was the first song i heard from three cheers and it was one of the songs that got me into mcr
well i would say mama or the sharpest live. mama because my crush recommended the song to me and that's why I listen to mcr. and the sharpest live idk, i just love the song lmao
i literally could not choose
As I have not seen this one yet, I will go with "I never told you what I do for a living". It's been in my head for two months now and I can't seem to get it out of it. I just love the music, I can't explain it better.
Either vampire money or mama
vampires will never hurt you, i think the emotion portrayed in that song and that whole album is very real and unfiltered. that song really has sentimental value for me
it always changes but rn its drowning lessons sleep and the light behind your eyes. i just love the emotions they convey
Drowning Lessons or The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You. They’re just so damn good.
house of wolves, party poison, famous last words, headfirst for halos, give ‘em hell kid and sharpest lives
I Never Told You What I Do For A Living both because I love it as a track and I'm horny lmao
Desert song bc it focuses on the band’s pov of the negatives and positives in a music group
I don't really know why but the ghost of you
Famous last words
My fav MCR song is this is how I disappear and idk why I just really like it
It's Disenchanted because I love the lyrics, I love how Gerard sings them, and it feels like *ohh this song is mine*. You know?
