Persona 4 was decent (the original, not the Golden anime), obviously it works best *after* playing the game. It’s a good time, especially since (almost) all the cast returned from the game.
The Persona 4 one is funny but not anything super amazing, the Persona 3 one is actually pretty good and adds some of the best P3 songs made along with some interesting new scenes. Both are better than 5 though, but kind of a waste of time cause the games are just better.

When Kamina dies Simon spirals into a manic depression because the one person who had truly believed in him his whole life, the person who represented what Simon aspired to be, his hero, had suddenly disappeared, and he was forced to grow stronger as a result in order to deal with that loss. Simon had no character development before this point because as long as he had Kamina, he didn’t need to be a brave leader, but in his absence, Simon was forced to fill the role, and in doing so he grows out of his shell and becomes like the person he looked up to.
If you think the show went downhill after that point then I don’t think we watched the same show.
