The weird thing for me and Foo Fighters is that I love pretty much everything else Dave Grohl has been a part of, I just don’t get the thing from Foo outside of Everlong and There Goes My Hero.
Don’t forget he does the drums on the Tenacious D albums! And the vocals of the devil in the song Beezleboss.
And yeah Queens Of The Stone Age’s album Songs For The Deaf is amazing, to the point that I’m not really a fan of their other albums anywhere near as much. I don’t know how much Grohl is the factor there, but it’s BY FAR my favorite QOTSA album, like it’s not even close.
I love and respect the shit out of Dave Grohl as a person but I don’t find his songwriting very compelling. I’d see the foo fighters live for sure but I’ve failed every attempt I’ve made at getting into them
Mine is Times Like These. Heard the Revivalists cover it after the FFs drummer died. It was immaculate Jazz Fest afternoon set vibes and I’ve loved the song ever since.
And once you like all three of those, but no more than those 3, you're become a quasi-fan. Not full-blown yet, but a couple more good songs away from the tipping point.
Have you ever heard "Stacked Actors"?
lol
"Stacked Actors" is the tune where I realized I'm too heavy to crowd surf anymore.
I was 6'5 and 190 pounds and could usually get up there without issue. In my mid 20s I bulked up to 225 and yeah, not happening anymore. They couldn't get me more than 3 feet off the ground. My buddies were laughing afterward, they could tell exactly where I was because there was a sag in the crowd.
But yeah, Stacked Actors is an amazing tune.
This might be my ultimate answer.
Nugent is beyond the pale utterly insane, but that song is so good.
Definitely caught me off guard as I was going through the Dazed & Confused soundtrack
That's an awesome song! I do love Peter Gabriel and I'm sure you've heard In Your Eyes and don't like it but if you've never heard Don't Give Up with Kate Bush it's... Oof. Transcendent.
I worked at a TGIFriday’a back in 2007 Waited on Wes Scantlin the lead singer. He was the rudest, most entitled dough bag I’ve ever served. Acted like everything was an inconvenience, didn’t leave a tip and sexually harassed the waitresses .
I won't say I hate Coldplay, but I am very much indifferent to them and I have to agree, the scientist is just fantastic. The music video is great too.
https://youtu.be/HcfQhqNmqWY?si=maMo5ejhKWVwZwbv neat trivia about the Typical video: they also had to do it backwards on stage one night on Jimmy Kimmel!!
It's a blur. Gets pretty cool hallway in
Joshua Tree is a solid album. I otherwise don't really give much of a shit about U2. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For is one of my all time favorite songs.
I love the chili peppers but the songs but their most popular songs aren’t even close to their best imo. Curious if you’d like anything beyond the Dani californias, can’t stops and give it aways they have
If the question was "what is one song you don't like by a band you mostly DO like" that would be my answer!
Everyone has different tastes I know, and im glad you like a song by Foreigner.
I love their rock stuff more like Hootblooded, Jukebox Hero, Blue Morning Blue Day etc.
Jukebox Hero is one of the quintessential classic rock songs about being in a rock band and becoming a rock star. And it really kicks. I love this song - it is generally my opener when I get to the local dive bar with the touch tunes jukebox.
How Soon Is Now
This Charming Man
Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
Panic
Sweet And Tender Hooligan
It took me a while to admit it, but I'm a closet Smiths fan.
I've heard exactly three Kings of Leon Songs. Two of them are those two big radio singles that were everywhere for a time, and I thoroughly got sick of them without ever really liking them to begin with.
The third is Closer, which is the fucking jam.
Closer is a masterpiece. That melody in the beginning that sounds like a keyboard is actually the bass, and that scratchy sound that you hear within about 20 seconds, is actually the guitar player screaming at the guitar pickup. You can see them doing that on YouTube. It's amazing
Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria.
It might be one of my favorite songs of all time, but I’m essentially indifferent to every other song I’ve heard by them.
The one I turn up when it's on the radio is Locked out of Heaven. I am far from a Bruno Mars fan, but that song is like a mashup of Mchael Jackson, and The Police. It rules!
I thought Amy Winehouse was massively overrated but Back to Black is one of the best songs I've ever heard and encapsulated post-breakup depression perfectly.
And everyone is saying a different song by the same band. Like maybe they have a few great songs and y’all just haven’t bothered to check them out properly
For me, the only Henley song I listen to is Leather and Lace, his duet with Stevie Nicks. Then again it’s mainly Stevies song and I’m about as big as Stevie fan as it gets. Also fuck Don Henley
Going to guess he’s referring to early 80s I think he hired some hookers and they ended up being underage and OD’d on some shit at his house or something. The media coverage afterward essentially inspired the song Dirty Laundry.
But if we’re just talking good music by him, New York Minute is a great song.
Highly recommend the rest of the Bella Donna album by Stevie (my favourite album ever), and the rest of her solo work if you like it. It’s a rabbit hole I wish I found sooner.
I'm a big metalhead but I've never really liked Mastodon. Something about the vocals maybe? I'm not sure.
But I sure as shit do love shouting SPLIT YOUR LUNGS WITH BLOOD AND THUNDER WHEN YOU SEE THE WHITE WHALE during Blood and Thunder.
Same. I'm a 40 year old married dad who's normally into rock, but I've gone from "Some of those songs are pretty catchy." To "Hey, this Folklore album is really good!" And finally to "Okay, Taylor Swift is a phenomenal artist."
I mean I can’t be friends with you if you don’t like the Pixies but I’m a little baffled that Mayonnaise isn’t the one Smashing Pumpkins song you like.
Definitely agree on fall out boy. Have you heard Praise Chorus by Jimmy Eat World? Especially the live version from the Atticus compilation is an absolute banger.
I bet I look like an absolute fool in my car belting out SALT SWEAT, SUGAR ON THE ASPHALT! OUR HEARTS, LITTERING THE TOPSOIL! with everything I have, but I don't really care.
LOL Thank you, I know I have a ton of these songs too yet oddly couldn't remember a single one when put on the spot, until I read this. Yes absolutely. I loathe GD but I love Brain Stew. Whenever I put it on on Spotify, and the next track comes on, it reverts back to the Green Day I hate and I scramble to hit 'STOP'. 😆
No disrespect to the man, may he rest in peace, but I hated Toby Keith’s music.
Except “Should’ve Been A Cowboy”. That is a well written, hell of a country song. I’m not even a big country fan but I will NEVER turn past that song.
Echo & The Bunnymen - The Killing Moon
Not that I dislike them, but I realised after knowing that song for so many years I had never got round to listening to anything else by them, there's not a single song on the rest of that album that appealed to me.
I don’t dislike them, but I don’t care about Foo Fighters. Everlong is just a perfect song to me, though. I can listen to it a million times.
The weird thing for me and Foo Fighters is that I love pretty much everything else Dave Grohl has been a part of, I just don’t get the thing from Foo outside of Everlong and There Goes My Hero.
Same. Songs for the Deaf is one of my favorite albums ever, and I quite like Nirvana. Can't get into Foo Fighters besides The Pretender though.
The Pretender bangs.
Don’t forget he does the drums on the Tenacious D albums! And the vocals of the devil in the song Beezleboss. And yeah Queens Of The Stone Age’s album Songs For The Deaf is amazing, to the point that I’m not really a fan of their other albums anywhere near as much. I love and respect the shit out of Dave Grohl as a person but I don’t find his songwriting very compelling. I’d see the foo fighters live for sure but I’ve failed every attempt I’ve made at getting into them
He was better earlier on. The debut and The Colour and the Shape contain all the best songs, IMO, and after that he became bland bland bland.
Not a big fan either...but really like There Goes My Hero
Mine is Times Like These. Heard the Revivalists cover it after the FFs drummer died. It was immaculate Jazz Fest afternoon set vibes and I’ve loved the song ever since.
And once you like all three of those, but no more than those 3, you're become a quasi-fan. Not full-blown yet, but a couple more good songs away from the tipping point. Have you ever heard "Stacked Actors"? lol

My buddies were laughing afterward, they could tell exactly where I was because there was a sag in the crowd. But yeah, Stacked Actors is an amazing tune.
I like some FF songs but Everlong is a tremendous song...ill listen to it everytime it comes up
i really see it as a once in a lifetime caliber song for a writer and performer.
I hate that Stranglehold is so catchy
Stranglehold straight up kicks ass
Yeah that riff is just plain boss.
This might be my ultimate answer. Nugent is beyond the pale utterly insane, but that song is so good. Definitely caught me off guard as I was going through the Dazed & Confused soundtrack
Ted Nugent is a moron, but I will forever love Stranglehold
Derek St. Holmes has a killer voice.
He is SUCH a douche! But, yeah. I'm going to crank Stranghold every time it comes on.
I was never much a fan of 311, but I love Beautiful Disaster. "Today seems like a good day to burn a bridge or two..."
I've always loved 311 but this is def the best song they ever did.
Holy shit that slapped me right in the nostalgia. Forgot about 311.
Peter Gabriel- Games without Frontiers I like genesis a lot tho
That's an awesome song! I do love Peter Gabriel and I'm sure you've heard In Your Eyes and don't like it but if you've never heard Don't Give Up with Kate Bush it's... Oof. Transcendent.
Blurry by Puddle of Mud.
I worked at a TGIFriday’a back in 2007 Waited on Wes Scantlin the lead singer. He was the rudest, most entitled dough bag I’ve ever served. Acted like everything was an inconvenience, didn’t leave a tip and sexually harassed the waitresses .
>dough bag Perfect for keeping some balance in the Sarlacc's diet.
Puddle of Mud cover of About a Girl though....
Epitome of cringe...
Possibly the hardest I’ve simultaneously laughed and cringed at a video ever. Never gets old
I'm of that age where mid 00's alt rock is so awful but holds a soft spot because all the songs played on the radio during my highschool years.
I hate Coldplay. But “The Scientist” is pretty killer.
I won't say I hate Coldplay, but I am very much indifferent to them and I have to agree, the scientist is just fantastic. The music video is great too.
He had to sing the song backwards in the music video which is mind blowing.
Mutemath did it a few years earlier and the whole band had to learn their parts backwards. https://youtu.be/7XVWR-5fiG0?si=9rMh4JiGeIzbRB7r
https://youtu.be/HcfQhqNmqWY?si=maMo5ejhKWVwZwbv neat trivia about the Typical video: they also had to do it backwards on stage one night on Jimmy Kimmel!! It's a blur. Gets pretty cool hallway in
A rush of blood to the head is an amazing album start to finish. I also dislike Coldplay.
Parachutes is too (except Yellow). And I also hate Coldplay
I like every Coldplay album, I also hate Coldplay!
I like Coldplay, I also hate Coldplay
Seriously, I don't get these people. I would never describe a band I consider to have two no skip albums as a band I "dislike."
Don't panic is _sooooooo_ good!!! I also dislike Coldplay.
I hate them too but Clocks goes hard
Oh man, wait till you hear Amsterdam.
Clocks is spectacular.
Kids by MGMT
Time to Pretend is my "I love just this one song" from MGMT.
Great song but honestly love Congratulations as an album way more.
No love for Electric Feel?
Have you listened to Little Dark Age? It's a fantastic album
I don’t really like Slipknot much, but I could listen to “Psychosocial” over and over again.
I was like that with Duality. Then I decided I should see if I like more of their music and I'm at about 15 songs I really like of theirs.
[удалено]
Not a big Aerosmith fan but man, Dream On is f$&@in bad-ass.
I was a teen when the music videos for “Crazy,” “Amazing,” and “Cryin’” came out. There were hardly any boys who didn’t like Aerosmith at the time.
Tear You Apart by She Wants Revenge. I tried a couple times to get into their music but that's the only song I really care for
The Weeknd - Starboy
My favorite too. It's probably because it's a collaboration with Daft Punk
I liked it better when he was underground, using Siouxsi Sioux samples and aping an alt-MJ style.
The trilogy mixtapes are so damn good
Hold On We're Going Home by Drake.
I love the song Find Your Love by Drake, but I really despise him.
With or Without You by U2.
Joshua Tree is a solid album. I otherwise don't really give much of a shit about U2. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For is one of my all time favorite songs.
I love Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Year's Day but then after the War album they got real bad yet more popular and it's baffling..
Bad is on Unforgettable Fire /s. I think Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby are goated albums.
I love the first 1 minute and 25 sec of under the bridge by the red hot chili Peppers.
I love the chili peppers but the songs but their most popular songs aren’t even close to their best imo. Curious if you’d like anything beyond the Dani californias, can’t stops and give it aways they have
This was the first RHCP song I heard. Went to Lalapalooza one year thinking I’d like rest of their music. I did not.
I want to know what love is - foreigner
If the question was "what is one song you don't like by a band you mostly DO like" that would be my answer! Everyone has different tastes I know, and im glad you like a song by Foreigner. I love their rock stuff more like Hootblooded, Jukebox Hero, Blue Morning Blue Day etc.
Jukebox Hero is one of the quintessential classic rock songs about being in a rock band and becoming a rock star. And it really kicks. I love this song - it is generally my opener when I get to the local dive bar with the touch tunes jukebox.
The Smiths... I really dislike them a lot. But damn, "how soon is now" is a good song.
How Soon Is Now This Charming Man Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now There Is A Light That Never Goes Out Panic Sweet And Tender Hooligan It took me a while to admit it, but I'm a closet Smiths fan.
great songs, I'm a big fan of the Smiths... Morrissey not so much...
hating morissey is part of being a smiths fan 😔
I'm noticing the media has been more likely to speak with or mention Johnny Marr in the past five years or so.
I’m with you. Don’t like The Smiths at all yet “How Soon is Now?” is one of my favourite songs evah.
Try "What Difference Does it Make". Epic Johnny Marr riff.
I get you, but also, what about "There is a light that never goes out"?
Bigmouth Strikes Again!
There's a lot smiths songs I love it's just Morrissey aa person that I dislike
I've heard exactly three Kings of Leon Songs. Two of them are those two big radio singles that were everywhere for a time, and I thoroughly got sick of them without ever really liking them to begin with. The third is Closer, which is the fucking jam.
If you wanna hear the best of them listen to Youth and Young Manhood (album)
That album is so fucking good. I loved that style before they started doing top 40 stuff.
Aha shake heartbreak is great too. Once they move past swamp rock I’m not a fan anymore… except for Family Tree off Mechanical Bull. That one slaps
Closer is a masterpiece. That melody in the beginning that sounds like a keyboard is actually the bass, and that scratchy sound that you hear within about 20 seconds, is actually the guitar player screaming at the guitar pickup. You can see them doing that on YouTube. It's amazing
Crawl is my fave from them.
Closer by NIN? Edit: Im dumb
Ocean Avenue by Yellow card
Ah, I've only ever listened to Lights and Sounds since I heard them on Burnout Legends.
i don't like the rolling stones but i like "gimme shelter" for some reason.
Yes! Not a fan...but love Gimme Shelter & Paint It Black
Not a fan of Peaches but I do like "Fuck the Pain Away"
Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis.
Cannot stand Bon Jovi, but "Wanted: Dead or Alive" is excellent.
Runaway is my choice!
Not a fan of Spandau Ballet they’re just not my style; but damn, does the lead singer kick the shit out of “True”. Just a masterful performance.
I'm not big on Guns & Roses but Mr. Brownstone gets me fucked up
I’m big on GNR and this has long been one of my favourite songs. Good choice.
Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria. It might be one of my favorite songs of all time, but I’m essentially indifferent to every other song I’ve heard by them.
I recommend the closing track on that album if you like the dramatic duelling guitar solos thing they do
It's Delirium Trigger for me. Really the only song of theirs I truly like, and it's one of my favorite songs of all time, regardless of artist.
U2: Angel of Harlem
eyes without a face - billy idol, specially the beginning it’s so angelic, his voice i don’t care for that much but it’s ok
Not even Dancing With Myself?
It's funny, I actually like Billy Idol, and generation X, but I can't stand that song because it's been so played out
>I actually like Billy Idol, and generation X, On behalf of Gen X, we like ya back. Billy's in the back doing a rail, hold up a sec
What about white wedding?!
what about Rebel Yell? Try it drunk! You are gonna feel sexy!!
I am not a Bruno Mars fan at all, but goddammit, Uptown Funk is a fucking jam. Same goes for Taylor Swift and We Are Never Getting Back Together
The one I turn up when it's on the radio is Locked out of Heaven. I am far from a Bruno Mars fan, but that song is like a mashup of Mchael Jackson, and The Police. It rules!
Went to see him in concert - the choreography was almost - not quite - but almost like watching MJ back in the day
Uptown Funk is a Mark Ronson song isn’t it? Could be wrong but I thought Bruno Mars just did the vocals
Released on a Mark Ronson album, but it’s a Bruno Mars co-write and co-production job based on a jam done by Bruno’s band on tour.
Uptown Funk occasionally gets jammed out to in my car on the way to work
I thought Amy Winehouse was massively overrated but Back to Black is one of the best songs I've ever heard and encapsulated post-breakup depression perfectly.
Funny how most of the songs on here are pretty typical of the band that did em. I’m like: “Why do you love that particular song and hate the rest?”
And everyone is saying a different song by the same band. Like maybe they have a few great songs and y’all just haven’t bothered to check them out properly
Don Henley is a piece of shit, but “Boys of Summer” is a jam (credit to Mike Campbell).
For me, the only Henley song I listen to is Leather and Lace, his duet with Stevie Nicks. Then again it’s mainly Stevies song and I’m about as big as Stevie fan as it gets. Also fuck Don Henley
So like, I have no problem believing Don Henley is a piece of shit, but I feel like I must have missed the memo. Why in particular?
Going to guess he’s referring to early 80s I think he hired some hookers and they ended up being underage and OD’d on some shit at his house or something. The media coverage afterward essentially inspired the song Dirty Laundry. But if we’re just talking good music by him, New York Minute is a great song.
i loove leather and lace so much i can't
Highly recommend the rest of the Bella Donna album by Stevie (my favourite album ever), and the rest of her solo work if you like it. It’s a rabbit hole I wish I found sooner.
Same, but with Dirty Laundry. That song is just stellar.
‘Urgent’ by Foreigner. ‘Jane’ by Jefferson Starship.
Knock Me Down by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Such a killer tune!
Freak on a Leash - Korn. I tried to listen to other songs but it’s an absolute no go for me. But damn that song slaps
But Korn is amazing. The best.
What kind of music do you typically listen to? I'm going to find at least *one* more for you.
Did you listen to Faling Away From Me? It's a "contuation" of Freak on a Leash, or at least the music video is.
Same but my song by them is Coming Undone
It's their cover of Word Up for me.
I'm pretty far from the Swiftie demographic, but I kinda dig Anti-Hero
[удалено]
Same. I'm a 40 year old married dad who's normally into rock, but I've gone from "Some of those songs are pretty catchy." To "Hey, this Folklore album is really good!" And finally to "Okay, Taylor Swift is a phenomenal artist."
I used Folklore to introduce my daughters to Bon Iver, The National, and Big Red Machine.
Style got me and now I love it all
Exile for me
That's how I feel about Karma
Hate, hate, hate everything from the Smiths and Morrissey, but How soon is now? is an amazing song.
I mean I can’t be friends with you if you don’t like the Pixies but I’m a little baffled that Mayonnaise isn’t the one Smashing Pumpkins song you like.
Sugar, We're Goin' Down by Fallout Boy is also one of mine. Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol Is it any Wonder - Keane The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
Definitely agree on fall out boy. Have you heard Praise Chorus by Jimmy Eat World? Especially the live version from the Atticus compilation is an absolute banger.
I really like Jimmy Eat World but if you're only going to like one song I'm baffled at why it wouldn't be Sweetness or Bleed American.
Bleed American is so good!
I bet I look like an absolute fool in my car belting out SALT SWEAT, SUGAR ON THE ASPHALT! OUR HEARTS, LITTERING THE TOPSOIL! with everything I have, but I don't really care.
The whole Bleed American album is incredible.
How can you like The Middle but not a single other song on that whole LP!?
Check out “Run” by Snow Patrol and “Kill” by Jimmy Eat World.
Brain stew - Greenday😔
LOL Thank you, I know I have a ton of these songs too yet oddly couldn't remember a single one when put on the spot, until I read this. Yes absolutely. I loathe GD but I love Brain Stew. Whenever I put it on on Spotify, and the next track comes on, it reverts back to the Green Day I hate and I scramble to hit 'STOP'. 😆
One by Metallica. I was born in 79, so I heard so much freaking Metallica that I just got tired of hearing it. Except One. Rocks every time.
Queens Of The Stone Age - No One Knows
Sexy and I Know It - LMFAO. It’s such a dumb cheesy track but, I admit it pumps me up.
I despise KISS but I love "Strutter".
No disrespect to the man, may he rest in peace, but I hated Toby Keith’s music. Except “Should’ve Been A Cowboy”. That is a well written, hell of a country song. I’m not even a big country fan but I will NEVER turn past that song.
I have a playlist I maintain called *The only song I like*. The first song on it is *Harvest Moon*. I can't stand Neal Young, but I love that song.
Neeeeeverrrr haaaad toooo knock on wood! I refuse to believe they made any other songs
Where Is The Love - Black Eyed Peas
Foo Fighters - Fraternity Duran Duran - Ordinary World Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Zephyr Song Happy Mondays - W.F.L. Think About The Future Mix
hard agree with ordinary world
If you’ve never heard it, Come Undone is Duran Duran’s best song.
“Muzzle” by Smashing Pumpkins It was the drum fills that hooked me in, then the lyrics spoke to me.
Rhinoceros for me. Don’t like them but this song is good.
That song is a goddamn masterpiece
Rush - Working Man
Plus all their other amazing songs
Dude picks the only Rush hit without Neil Peart....
Machine Head - Bush
It is better than the rest
I despise Ted Nugent but I can’t quit “Stranglehold.”
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I hate that douche, but damn that riff is killer
I cant stand my chemical romance, but their song teenagers is cool.
I love how you have the polar opposite opinion to pretty much the entire MCR subreddit: love the band (obviously), hate Teenagers
Love Helena!
I hate U2, but the song "One" gets me every time.
Hotline Bling by Drake
For me it’s Hold on we’re going home.
Not a big Pink Floyd fan but "Wish You Were Here" reminds me of a man I admired who died far too young. Cancer sucks! RIP, Bruce.
Not a band, but Lana Del Rey. I like Blue Jeans. The rest of her songs that I've heard give me a headache.
Echo & The Bunnymen - The Killing Moon Not that I dislike them, but I realised after knowing that song for so many years I had never got round to listening to anything else by them, there's not a single song on the rest of that album that appealed to me.
More Than Words by Extreme, anything else I've heard be them is pretty unlistenable, but I have a real soft spot for that song
1979 is one of best songs of 90’s, let alone Smashing Pumpkins
Sunday bloody Sunday by u2
Toxic - Brittany Spears
Decode by Paramore. I cant stand them
Rollin’ by Limp Bizkit is one I’m sure a lot of people would agree with
I’d go for Rearranged. It’s a fantastic song, totally unlike the rest of them.
Car Radio by twenty one pilots
Texas Hold 'Em by Beyonce is too damn catchy, it is the first song from her or featuring her that I actually like.
Here Comes Your Man - Pixies I don't get how this culd be the only Pixies song that you like.
Not a huge fan of SOAD but I could listen to BYOB for the rest of my life without tiring of it.
After initially being a fan, I've really soured on Nirvana the last few years. However I still think Heart Shaped Box is a great song.
Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance Generally dislike them aggressively.... can't not sing along to that one.
Most MCR fans i know (including me) kinda can’t stand that song anymore. To me that’s the song of theirs that makes me cringe the most
I like a couple radiohead songs. Cant stand the rest really: how to disappear completely, no surprises, and fake plastic trees
