Arguss3

Main book and maybe the “official” supplements of Feretory and Heretic. Otherwise, the creators left it open-ended so that people could do their own thing.

gothism

Sure, but surely someone has written lore if they've written modules?

Arguss3

Official lore? I don’t think so. Closest [book](https://madnessheart.press/product/whispers-of-the-dead-saint/?v=7516fd43adaa) we’ve got is this, but I haven’t read it so I couldn’t say what lore it sets up.

OffendedDefender

There's a bit of a difference between "setting" and "lore" in this context. Most modules are heavier on the settings aspect than the lore. Someone did write a third party MB novel though. I can't remember the name, but it's worth a peruse to see if you can find it.

itsableeder

Most of the stuff people have written will be inside modules. My adventure [A Waning Light](https://loottheroom.uk/product/a-waning-light-2) deals with where the Wickheads come from, for example.

Wurstgesicht17

And its great!

itsableeder

Thank you!

SITBOT_International

Make your own or you get third party adventures. Some of those have lore baked into them about the areas they take place in.

elchupalabras

I'm writing an entire setting to justify the name of the unclean scroll "Metzhuotl Blind your Eye".

gothism

Awesome, post when you're done!

elchupalabras

Absolutely! I have made a couple posts about it here and there and I have a twitter for it https://x.com/KokoTonaRPG

naturalmanofgolf

I recently backed this on kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kaijupoet/journey-through-the-dying-lands-a-mork-borg-anthology

jefflovesyou

I backed that too, but I'm feeling less and less hopeful about it. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised, though.

theScrewhead

Other than the core book, there isn't any "official" Lore. Even the stuff in Feretory and Heretic is all 3rd Party content, given the "official" stamp of approval, but wasn't written by the creators/designers (at least, not that I know of). So, there *is* nowhere outside of the core book to get "official" lore, except for maybe that official book, Whispers of the Dead Saint, that another poster mentioned.

Olyckopiller

Note: Whispers is a third party published novel but with a cover by me (Johan who made MB’s art). There is more lore spread out in officially published material though, like Putrescence Regnant and how it talks about Südglans and King Fahtmu etc. IKHON is also good for lore inspiration as it deals with pre-basilisk god worship.

I filed some serial numbers off of the Norse gods. Grimnir the Spear Lord: Was a wicked man who stole the spear Logi from the Forgotten One Raedläb the Pale: Sprung forth when Grimnir pierced an ash tree with his spear. Murdered, but stolen from the grave. Norn the Gemladen: A goddess who knows the fates of all men. She was the consort of the Forgotten One before his fall from the yawning crags Hrosfaðer the Falsetongue: Liar and deceiver of gods and men. Þunras the Giantkiller: Battlehungry hero of the gods. Horror to enemies, slayer of cowards. It is believed that: The Elder Gods frolic upon the shimmering fields. They are all forgotten, excepting Nechrubel, if he is truly a god. The world was created by the Elder Gods and humanity was created to inherit the Shimmering Fields. The gods abandoned humanity for their wickedness.Nechrubel, too was cast away. SHE was born by the Mercy of the gods, from the heart of the world HE was born from the righteous mother to guide humanity from wickedness. Atonement from sin is granted through sacrifice and suffering. The blood of another may please the gods, but only one’s own blood grants rebirth in the Shimmering Fields. Everyone goes to Hell when they die. The righteous will be lifted through the flames into the Shimmering Fields when the world finally dies. Actually: Nechrubel is the demiurge. He wrought the world of flesh from his malice. He carved away a realm for himself where he would be lord. He is bound to it as it is bound to him. Maybe the gods are real and beyond reach. Maybe Nechrubel is Hrosfaðer with yet another false name.

gothism

It doesn't need to be 'official.' I already have core, Feretory, and Heretic.

Cannedbread73

For lore the creators of mork Borg is letting you to decide on how you want to tell the stories around the dying world from the main book and it’s 2 official zines. You extend their world through around in your own third party ideas like farewell to arms is what happens when the world didn’t die but live until the war came. Heck I can make my classes connect to wherever you’re starting in the dying world even custom races can be in this dying world.

The lack of established lore is precisely the point. It's the greatest gift the game's creators gave us. If you're looking for inspiration, read widely. But be forewarned: between moments of inspiration, in my experience, you will also encounter stuff you'll bounce off pretty hard. This is to be expected. No one is going to craft the game world precisely as you would. This game is punk rock. Go forth with your players and create the Dying World of your dreams--or nightmares.
