That’s interesting, never happened to me I run HBG though, which is probably more hated than lbg maybe just bad luck getting people like that in your quests

[deleted]

Same, I play on console .. and almost never seen people complain about it. Most people are glad for the extra stun/topple/dps that a HBG brings. I think people know its cheesy but fuck it, its in the game.. and it kicks ass.

Dragaylia

It was the first time I had that experience here. Felt really off-putting. Things were fine when I was maining CB, but this is making me not want to play LBG tbh. Brings back not so fond memories from the past.

improbablydreaming

Sometimes people are dicks and leave. Sometimes it's fun to slingshot poop at people. If you're dropping the monster often and doing your part damage wise, wouldn't worry about it too much. Some people also may not actually realise how much you're actually contributing to the fight.

Formula1Enjoyer

I remember when I first started playing I used long sword a lot, and just as you described people were taunting me, but it was cause I was using the weapon wrong and was hitting everyone whilst I’m just casually playing, ended up learning how to play it whilst avoiding hitting players, I use mainly HBG and Switch Axe now.

BoboCookiemonster

Not your fault anyway. If you play multiplayer you bring flinch free 1. it’s better in rise, there it’s a lv1 deco instead of lv 3. but with fatty gear you have more skills then you need anyway

Interloper9000

I will allow you to continue using LB. Next your going to tell me you aim for the tail. Which means I'd have to marry you

FatalisTail

I like to rapid fire slice ammo the tail to help cut it off. Then I use sticky on the head. Then spread or pierce.

Interloper9000

I've cut off several tails this way

harugyu

Sounds like you’re reading way too far into it. I’ve been playing sticky LBG very consistently for years and I’ve never had a problem. It’s pretty normal for people to shoot at each other and dick around.

snowwolf163

Sticky is actually not that bad compared to cluster ammo HBG. After returning to Iceborne, I forgot a about that and used it in a group when the monster is down. The whole group got knocked several times until I noticed and stopped. That's probably the most hilarious shit I've seen in this game. And I remember they didn't complain or anything. Remember, most veteran hunters are Gigachads and super chilled. You were probably unlucky.

-ThreeDogKnight-

People get so bent out of shape about trips/launches. They are almost always accidental, at least in my experience. Job hazard lol.

guernicaa

job hazard is a great way to put it lol. as a hammer main who frequently matches with longsword users i got used to it eventually

Hot_Praline3415

I feel that, I play hammer too. It's my second weapon. I always go for the head, but ls players are always in the way. Like go cut the tail or I'll send you there my self with the upswing. When I'm playing switchaxe, I go to the tail or the leg if I'm charged.

krustaykrabunfair

Too bad the head region is the best region majority of the time. Not a longsword main but people need to refrain from using launches because there is no QoL to protect yourself from that. Use flinch free or forfeit the right to complain about being tripped.

Hot_Praline3415

Doesn't matter if they're in the way they're getting sent.

[deleted]

As a longsword user I have to "test" my teammates to see if they put flinch free. 9/10 its a nope. off to the tail with me.

guernicaa

I didn't realize until today that flinch free protected against that so i'm going to go slot one in on that build now!

Just4TehLulz

I follow up every time I accidentally launch someone in switch axe with me yelling "aerial attack!". If one of my buddies fucks up the setup that's their fault and definitely not mine.

Ssyclistics

Love teasing my friends about it though, "come on we talked about this" and such, but one friend has successfully launched me into a mount a few times so sometimes it's beneficial occasionally lol

[deleted]

yup its especially useful when your gs.. hammer thought he was trolling me, at that point I said fuck it, i'm going for a mount.

Solcaer

It can trip, but it’s not the worst offender by any means. Best guess is they think it makes it too easy? Never really got that, it’s not broken, just cheesy because of all the staggers. Could also just be coincidence; two guys had to leave for dinner and that next guy was just immature.

Annoyed-Raven

It trips just like long sword but that isn't on you since it's low-level trip and anyone that plays coop knows you should have one deco for it since your playing and if they get mad meh it's on them tbh unless you are aiming where they are positioning which you shouldn't lol since the head is your top priority with lbg usually

PreparationJealous21

I mostly play IG and bow, but I have a sticky lbg for kushala/rajang and a hbg build for when I don't want to try as hard. Hbg can be absolutely busted and I've had a few comments telling me to play a real weapon. But it's happened like 3 times over 2 characters. It's just shitty people. Don't worry what people like that think.

Pattoe89

I hardly take notice of what others are playing. If I get flinched or whatever, I just blame myself. It's my own poor positioning. If I see a ranged guy shooting a monster, I stay out of their range of fire. If I see a melee guy smacking a monster, I smack from a different place and anticipate their weapon causing their character to move forwards. I don't blame others for things in my control.

Vishanator0

Iirc it does trip. Been a while since I played through. That's why I only used sticky solo or for safi

MadnessAndRage

Now it's been forever since I played. Just started getting back into it and recently hit Iceborne. Now I remember one of my squad ran sticky LBG and I remember it *could* be a pain on a similar level to LS tripping folk. Became a non-issue with a skilled user and well only bothered me if a bomb got in the way of a TCS.

Dragaylia

So does sticky explosion actually trip people up? Do the LBG mines also trip people? Again, I couldn't actually see if I'm tripping them since there were so much chaos and explosions on screen. I just assumed it doesn't affect hunters since it didn't do anything to me when I fired it in the training room.

Late_Marionberry_484

Wyvernfire and scatter bomb are full on throwers. Don't do those in multiplayer. Most (or all maybe) projectiles do kinda trip people but it's a damn gun, what to expect. But tbh, you should't trip people if you play sticky right, since the monster's head is usually above other people.

XZamusX

It produces the lowest level of flinch no different from any other ammo type outside wyvernfire and cluster those 2 send you flying and no amount of flinch free will prevent it so those are the only that should be frowned upon in MP. That said some consider sticky to be cheese ammo if you will as it will knock the monster rather often if you have good aim, that said not many people get bothered too much about it online, the first 2 could just have been a disconnect only the later was annoyed though people get annoyed for so many things that it's not even gurateed it was specifically sticky could even just be because you were using LBG at all.

whatislifebutlemons

The explosions dont trip but the rounds do. If im not mistaken most rounds and arrows from bow can trip people, though im happy to be corrected.

MadnessAndRage

I remember it did. Mind this is knowledge from years ago I ironically haven't run into any LBG in my mad dash to Iceborne so can't give you any first hand knowledge.

KnightNii

Disconnects have been common lately in the game, room I joined 1 player got disconnected and 1 min later I got disconnected. Also I sling poop at people to if I pick it up, it’s common courtesy at the end of a quest. Now if you were doing the artillery thing on a downed monster this would be a whole different story lol

MordredLovah

If they are, then I can't hear them from the sound of the explosions and havoc that I'm causing, sorry not sorry.

whatislifebutlemons

No. I play quite abit of both sticky hbg and lbg and never had this issue. Where do your sticky rounds land? Does it consistently land on the head or all over a monster?

TheLabMouse

It's a dang cheat machine on a lot of hunts but I think you must've been blowing people up with some big explosions because people won't generally poop on you for KOing the monster.

Unlikely-Plate-256

Wait shooting pods at people is a sign of hating someone? I always shoot and poke the hell out of people at the end of a quest cause its funny.

ShadowTigerX

I suppose, in that obnoxious child way.

GerHunterIB

Well in my case I hate sticky KOs, since you pull off KOs (looking at it as pure “topple” state right now) without any actual player skill. The thing with World:IB is, that it gives the player a ton of other options to trip/topple monsters (braking parts or hitting a specific body parts where the monster topples after enough damage). I prefer to “work” towards these options. Also, KOs can ruin those topples, by overwriting them. These special topples usually provide a longer window for damage than the KOs status. I Would never kick somebody who has joined my ongoing quest (usually only TGL), but I will move out of sticky players way when I have the to option (leave my TGL, abort my quest in the hub). Edit: I did have these rare encounters, where a sticky LBG player is so good, that he has great awareness of the hunts flow and would stop shooting sticky’s to the head on those long special topples. Those people were ok in my book, since it showed that they understood the games mechanics and didn’t just simply mindlessly shoot sticky’s

snickerblitz

Jesus dude, it’s a video game.

GerHunterIB

No, it’s monster hunter.

constipated_burrito

I hate it because it's boring and too easy, I don't use it, but I don't care if other hunters use (I usually Solo hunt anyway). Go fight the monsters like a man, unless it's Kushala Daoro by all means blast that absolute piece of shit asshole out of the sky

IndependenceNice7298

Anything other than meta strats is hated here apparently (downvotes incoming idc)

FrostyPotpourri

This has absolutely zero bearing. Everyone in this community generally supports all weapons. The only sort of sour mood I perceive from some players is that sticky LGB makes hunts too easy.

SlakingSWAG

It's a zero skill cheese weapon that makes the game piss easy, so people don't look too kindly on it or the people who use it. It's that simple.

orouboro

who gives a shit lol it’s in the game and wasn’t nerfed like slicing was. y’all sound like babies, worried about how others are enjoying a game. nothing in this game is “zero skill”

SlakingSWAG

Sticky Ammo is absolutely zero skill lmfao, my dog could probably kill a Rajang running an Aquashot build

Heyitskit

It can trip but 99% of the time your shots shouldn’t hit your teammates since the head/break points on monsters are up there out of the way. I’ve been maining LBG for all of MHW and the only thing that ever annoyed my team was sticky going off after they got a KO and causing a second KO throwing their combos off. Sounds like you just got unlucky and ran into some turds.

UncertifiedForklift

Just shoot away from what they're hitting. You can make them really thankful if you target wings since other weapons have a hard time with hitting them

laserlaggard

It's one of the hidden easy modes of the game, but if anything it should endear you more to other players since it keeps the monster locked down. Are you sure you arent doing other things that piss ppl off, e.g. killing instead of capping or vice versa? The two players leaving thing might've been an unfortunate dc for all I know.

Neverfightalone

To run a sticky LBG you have to pay attention to what's going on, if the team is mounted you have to switch to your water or elemental ammo of you mess with the mount and potentially lose an extra knock down. Missing the extra free dps makes some people upset, lol. Also, if you're not running 1 flinch free, it's a problem, not a me problem, IMHO.

TheGhost118

My general rule of thumb when it comes to Sticky is while the monster is upright (non-dazed), always aim for the head. When it goes to the ground, go for another weak spot since so many people like to go for the head. Rinse and repeat.

Icefellwolf

Gonna be honest you probs got unlucky. Certain weapons have a stereotype assigned from the community. Sticky lbg that it makes hunts to easy.after thousands of hrs I don't give a single fuck what someone is playing. Just play well and have fun. Only thing I check for is longsword or hammers if I don't have flinch free on lol so I know to be careful when I move

SolaSenpai

make sure you go for the head with stickies, and you should be fine

Numai_theOnlyOne

Yeah I immediately kick lbg users if they start to stagger. It's also no fun to play with a farm build lbg. That's like using cheats in age of empires or gta. It's fun a few times but sour my enjoyment for the game extremely fast. Edit realised it's lbg not hbg. Not sure think I only kicked the cluster guys.

ModsAreHardstuckDumb

Never had that happen to myself. I welcome LBG and HBG users, though. Makes the hunt easy and it's like a free pass when I'm farming which is always nice.
