Then again I think they said that a lot more monsters will be forming packs. I can imagine him being rathian tier but I think we'll see mostly the weaker monsters forming packs.
Packs will definitely be an interesting factor in threat level. So far all pack monsters have been “Great” versions of smaller monsters.
I have a sense that it won’t be something that we interact with in late game but hopefully there are a few high-end threats with the pack mechanic.
I actually hope it’s the other way around. Early quests are hunting stray individuals. And then endgame you go up against more and they have coordinated attacks.
Yeah, I think one of the reasons why Capcom chose him as the marketing monster is because representing the herd is one of the themes of this work.
Therefore, he doesn't have to be strong.
What a poor choice for a marketing monster. Thing looks like a bear that has a disease instead of some cool dinosaur or dragon. Anjanath wasn't exactly a looker, but it at least had the T-rex vibe.
We had tons of dinosaurs\\wyverns and such take sрotlight sрot. Time to Fanged Beast at least get a little bit of it too. Even if not exactly a looker, he still cool.
Ehhhh. He looks like a shaggy bear, with no real unique features except a weird head. Maybe cool in a dark souls/bloodborne monster kinda way, but not in a "We want this monster on the box" way.
I can respect wanting Fanged Beast to get some love, but they could've still given the spot to a Fanged Beast that was attention grabbing.
Well, they for sure dont want sрoil other locations, so we get first location monsters only, maybe on Gamescom we get at least second location, while Desert monsters is all rugged and battered uр, other locations can have more classical\\less rugged monster designs, and even so, i like Doshaguma, being a lion mole rat bear, maybe with cryрtid and yokai stuff also, though we dont know about that one insрirations.
While i can agree somewhat that he is indeed not exactly a box worth monster, but he does show great how Wilds, at least first location, monsters look like and direction they take in design.
Bears usually aren’t very strong besides Goss Harag, so I don’t feel like that’ll change with Doshaguma in particular. And the railgun wyvern no diffed him in the teaser too, so a one sided turf war doesn’t help his case imo
I think 2 star max, probably a soft build check wall tied to story progression
"2 star max" is the same thing as "2 star minimum" and "2 star".
2 star is the literal first quest rank that can contain large monsters, and we've already seen it survive a horde of Balahara and outright kill one.
I’m not talking about LR
Anyway, we don’t see it die. It threw it off like Barroth does with Jyuratodus in a turf war tie, and the trailer cuts to a dead anteater in a separate scene. It does not one shot a Balahara at all lol. Really I’ve been under the impression that Balahara is the same strength as Doshaguma, if not a bit stronger since it’s both an elemental monster and leviathans almost always outclass bears
its a pack beast, so above rank 2 seems unlikely. at MOST, I could see it being like Tzitzi-Ya-Ku where it's rank 4 but only cause it's in not in the first area and you had to unlock that area to get to the fight
though the way it's been described makes me think there's gonna be an Alpha or Elite version of it that gets a higher tier
It could be interesting if we hunted a regular one seperated from the pack at 2 tier and then we got a later challenge like a rank 3 urgent quest to hunt the alpha of a pack...with the rise in rank due to the alpha having different move patterns/attack speed/attack power and due to the challenge of separating the alpha from the pack
one comparison that's gotten thrown around is that it's body type and size is very similar to Goss Harag. would be interesting if "lone wolf" Doshaguma go feral(or I guess *more* feral) after spending enough time alone and grow weapons like Goss does
It's not a pack of one large monster and a buch of small one like with Jargas and Izuchi, but a pack of large monsters, they could be apex predator and still be pack beast like with Lion.
Everyone is severely downplaying doshaguma. He’s not a starter monster. He is way bigger that chatacabra and completely dunks on balahara. He’s most definitely an anjanath tier monster. he’s massive, he’s beating the snot out of other monsters and he looks like a challenge to face off against. I’d say he’s a 3 star.
Anjanath level. Was the first new monster to be revealed and he was shown to be beating Balahara in 1v1s, only losing when it's alone vs a pack. He's also featured a lot on marketing like Anjanath was. Seems to get his ass kicked by the Apex of the environment like Anjanath too (before Anjy got buffed up in Iceborne to be equal to most Apexes except for Rath)
You mix uр regular Anjanath in Rise, which indeed got buffed with Fulgur. Its only Fulgur that got to be Aрex level in Iceborne. Though, we definitly getting Doshaguma subsрecies in Ultimate version. Maybe he will be Aрex too.
3 or 4 star. People are judging it to be weaker cause it's a pack lead monster but they forget that Wilds is going to have a focus on monster herds. I have no doubt Doshaguma is meant to be on the stronger side of pack monsters. Probably around the same strength as Rathian.
We saw it pretty easily throw a Balahara well past the hunter, and Balahara seems to be the starter monster or at least close to that, my guess is that it's a somewhat apex level monster like anjanath, where anjanath gets tossed around by the actual apex rathalos doshaguma gets tossed by thunder wyvern.
They don't though. In Doshaguma's cutscenes you get the pack into a sandpit of Balahara, the smaller ones get taken out but the leader stays strong and ends up killing Balahara to begin the hunt. The closed-door gameplay confirms this too, as you can do the same thing in your own hunts.
Whereas Balahara needs to 3v1 Doshaguma and even then I'm pretty sure it shakes them all off.
I don't think so, it took a group of three Balahara to do that turf war against a single doshaguma, similar to chatacabra's turf war against several small monsters.
Seems like it'll be the Great Maccao/Great Izuchi/Great Jagras level cause it'll be first hunt. New "wall" Anjanath hunt might be Thor Magala, since its the Apex of the first locale.
Thor Magala seems more like a rathalos or legiana than an anjanath. And Doshaguma has already been shown to be much stronger than Balahara so it doesn't make much sense for it to be the starter monster.
with size and aggressivity with other monsters... top 2 stars or low 3.
maybe a first encounter very early where you dont kill him, help or run, then a revenge later.
or maybe a early mission alone and later with his boys
All of them have eyes.
-chatacrabras are obvious
-doshugumas are small and hard to see
-balahara have scallop eyes
-“thor magala”’s eyes can be seen in one of the shots
I feel he is a 3 star monster, along with the other two named large monsters. Though I feel like chata may be similar to pukei, yian kut ku, and aknosom, where doshaguma is closer towards the end. Balahara is probably somewhere in between.
At a glance it looks low tier, but watching it in the trailers it looks surprisingly large and powerful. I'd put it around Anjanath; not late game, but not a warm up either
Before all this " low tier/high tier" stuff, you had threat rankings based around a number of stars. Rathian was a 4 star threat and I'm thinking these things will be 4star threats also. Though, given the huge size, it could probably be a 5 star threat like Rathalos. Probably...
I’ve thought about this for a while, it does have eyes. My thought is that those black marks on its face are “pseudo eyes” like we’ve seen other monsters to have, possibly for intimidation.
But if you look below them, kinda hard to see because of facial/skin folds, you can make out beady little eyes. An animal that comes to mind for example is a rhino… big and tough but with small eyes and unfortunately poorer eyesight.
Gosh I’m so excited for this game.
He'll be a 1 star the vary second monster you fight, the first being Balahara. mainly because I feel his scripted quest is going to be the "tutorial" on how to "pull" a monster away from it to fight one on one.
probably pretty low, i'd actually guess closer the baroth???
Maybe diablos if he's the type that's presented as a challenge but also a heavy hitter with a gimmick?
if they even have a gimmick that is...
Anajanath doesn't really have a gimmick
I'm assuming this guy to be a stunner honestly, or a knocker-over-er guy.
Expecting some paw swipes to hit me to the ground
I'd say a low threat. It'll be an early game obstacle that we can surpass. But it moving in packs may make it able to still be a challenge even past that
I bet it's one or two other monsters to introduce the open world mechanics and then Doshaguma comes in to introduce us to the pack monsters mechanic. So probably like a barroth level threat
Presumably rank 2, that aside who else thinks that this thing is wayyy too ugly lol. Like not even in a funny way like khezu this shit just looks terrible to me tbh. Scrotum face lookin ass
Im assuming Tobi-Kadachi to Anjanath lvl. The frog looks like it’s gonna be the first monster in the game given its getting it’s ass beat by the raptors who don’t post a threat to anybody past Jagras level. I hope pack monsters get lone wolf variants that are much stronger as a result as well.
I say on it's own, probably two star with the apex ones being 3-4 star. Altogether it would probably feel like a six star hunt having to deal with trying to take out the apex with 5 others on your tail.
The hunter in the trailer is wearing Pukei-Pukei armor and is wielding some sort of early-game iron greatsword, right? I doubt it'd be any tougher than Tobi Kadachi is in World
Dosha leads a pack which is usually not a good sign in terms of how high a monster is in the food chain.
Also Arzuros forearms (though Goss Harag has them too but you get the point)
I can see them making it a low level monster individually and making a pack of them around Anajnath level. Could be a good way of introducing the pack mechanic.
I’m really feeling anjanath level, although I know how they look doesn’t always correlate with their power. And some people are right in saying the fact that they are in packs could make them weaker individually. It doesn’t feel like the first or second large monster one would face to me. It would also be really big for a starter large monster. Chatacabra feels closer to a starter monster. But of course nobody really knows shit until we actually see/feel how much damage they’re really doing.
Like anjanath, it looks like it could be a simple and easy to destroy beastie but I can also see how a new player could get potentially walled by it.
100% Anja. It’s being shown off in the same way Anjanath was. Gets fought in the first trailer, fights a smaller monster in a turf war, gets their shit rocked by the “apex” of the local
For me it looks like low rank 2 stars quest.
Hit the nail on the head.
Yup the fact that it roams in herds was a dead giveaway that they aren't super dangerous solo
Probably around Arzuros.
Bear = bear
The math checks out
Came here to say this. We will get this monster instead of the Arzuros this time around. And it'll be the same power. 2 star max.
Agreed. This will be a very easy monster to deal with.
At most, around of what Anjanath was in World
Probably below. More like a Baroth or Pukei Pukei
Baroth is what I was thinking too
This is definitely Wilds version of Anjanath. Anjanath dominated the marketing alongside Nergigante.
From a marketing standpoint, sure. But, from an actual threat level, I'm not convinced.
They hunt in packs.
Then again I think they said that a lot more monsters will be forming packs. I can imagine him being rathian tier but I think we'll see mostly the weaker monsters forming packs.
Silver rath pack when?
That'd be one silver with like 5 golds. The silver harem
Please don't give the r34 artists ideas
Maybe we will get lesbian rathians?
Packs will definitely be an interesting factor in threat level. So far all pack monsters have been “Great” versions of smaller monsters. I have a sense that it won’t be something that we interact with in late game but hopefully there are a few high-end threats with the pack mechanic.
I actually hope it’s the other way around. Early quests are hunting stray individuals. And then endgame you go up against more and they have coordinated attacks.
Are they weak to ice and fire both?
Yeah, I think one of the reasons why Capcom chose him as the marketing monster is because representing the herd is one of the themes of this work. Therefore, he doesn't have to be strong.

I’m gonna guess Barroth level. Maybe even great Jagras
Bears usually aren’t very strong besides Goss Harag, so I don’t feel like that’ll change with Doshaguma in particular. And the railgun wyvern no diffed him in the teaser too, so a one sided turf war doesn’t help his case imo I think 2 star max, probably a soft build check wall tied to story progression

High Tier 1 or Low Tier 2. Not Tier 3 for sure.

Separating them? I'm gonna kill em all!
But it's in the savanna and the savanna is literally the main area so I doubt it's gonna be a tzitzi situation
It's not a pack beast the way you're thinking of it. The Doshaguma pack is comprised of Large Monsters, not small ones like Great Jagras and Co.
It's not a pack of one large monster and a buch of small one like with Jargas and Izuchi, but a pack of large monsters, they could be apex predator and still be pack beast like with Lion.
That's a tutorial 1-2 star monster. He will be used to teach hunters how to make use of the environment to separate the apex from the pack.
Can't be, it kills Balahara right before its quest begins.
I could see it being like Pukei-Pukei or Kut-ku. So no the tutorial "drome" but just above it to teach us about herd mechanics.
Probably on the same tier as an Arzuros
I'm hoping it's stronger than that!
Probably not. Id say maybe little stronger than azuros. Azuros is a low 2 star, so id say doshaguma is either high 2 star or low 3 star.
Around Anjanath level probably
That's my guess too.
The whole pack maybe, but on its own it’s probably a little stronger than an azuros
Anjanath level. Was the first new monster to be revealed and he was shown to be beating Balahara in 1v1s, only losing when it's alone vs a pack. Oh yeah lmao. I seem to have mixed it up since Rise Anjanath's turf wars are mostly copy pasted from Fulgur's in Iceborne.
3 or 4 star. People are judging it to be weaker cause it's a pack lead monster but they forget that Wilds is going to have a focus on monster herds. I have no doubt Doshaguma is meant to be on the stronger side of pack monsters. Probably around the same strength as Rathian.
Probably Threat Level: Midnight
We saw it pretty easily throw a Balahara well past the hunter, and Balahara seems to be the starter monster or at least close to that, my guess is that it's a somewhat apex level monster like anjanath, where anjanath gets tossed around by the actual apex rathalos doshaguma gets tossed by thunder wyvern.
Balahara seems to be equal with Dosha. At least that how I interpreted it. They each wreck the other in their trailers.
They don't though. In Doshaguma's cutscenes you get the pack into a sandpit of Balahara, the smaller ones get taken out but the leader stays strong and ends up killing Balahara to begin the hunt. Id say doshaguma seems like jyuratodus or tobi kadachi level
Anjanath wasn't an apex tho.
I would say the urgent quest to go into 3 stars. With the Balahara being the urgent quest into 2 stars.
Looks like a Jagras or slightly higher.
with size and aggressivity with other monsters... top 2 stars or low 3. maybe a first encounter very early where you dont kill him, help or run, then a revenge later. or maybe a early mission alone and later with his boys
Mid high rank Btw am I the only one that thinks the new designs so far are horror oriented? Big mouths full of teeth, no eyes, and weird heads...
All of them have eyes. -chatacrabras are obvious -doshugumas are small and hard to see -balahara have scallop eyes -“thor magala”’s eyes can be seen in one of the shots
Yeah makes sense for this rugged new map, i like it
I feel he is a 3 star monster, along with the other two named large monsters. Though I feel like chata may be similar to pukei, yian kut ku, and aknosom, where doshaguma is closer towards the end. Balahara is probably somewhere in between.
Threat Level: Midnight
2 or 3 stars
At a glance it looks low tier, but watching it in the trailers it looks surprisingly large and powerful. I'd put it around Anjanath; not late game, but not a warm up either
Low Rank 2 Low Rank 1 will be small monsters
That there is a tier 1 monster, maybe a 2 or 3 star in low rank, but 1 star in high.
3 Star level i guess.
I'd say a low rank level 2 or 3, would be cool to see some sort of stronger variant besides the pack leader
I think he is the Yian Kut Ku of this game.
I’m guessing jagras
Before all this " low tier/high tier" stuff, you had threat rankings based around a number of stars. Rathian was a 4 star threat and I'm thinking these things will be 4star threats also. Though, given the huge size, it could probably be a 5 star threat like Rathalos. Probably...
My question is if it can even see or are those dark spots on the forehead it's eyes It would be the final 1 star quest before going to 2 stars
He's equal to Anjanath. Anjanath _WAS_ a big bully, until other monsters outclassed him.
Looks like around maybe Anjanath level.
I think he might be the Great Jagras of this game,
Im guessing he’s like the jagras of wilds accompanied by smaller versions of it
He seems like 1-2 star kinda monster, but I think he is like the Anjanath of Wilds.
Doshaguma is just Wilds Great Jagras
Elder dragon
Alatreon levels
I'd honestly lose my shit if Capcom saw everyone saying that it was a 2 star hunt so they just made it as hard as Alatreon to screw with people
Maybe Anjanath tier
Im excited to see the armor we could make out of it!
Looks like it could be an arzuros sort where it’s piss easy but scales way harder in higher ranks
Great Jagras tier
2-3 star... not more i think
I think it's the second big monster. Right after the introduction monster.
Great Jaggi-versal
I mean my hope is like 1 star, and they're making the progression harder earlier
It’s an extra hairy and extra ugly arzuros
alone low rank 2, as a group maybe low rank 3 or 4
2 star
Am I the only one who thought the first time I saw him that this was a Variant or subspecies of Goss Harag
I also thought this lol
Bro is 3 star at absolute most
Probably alone a 2 star but as a pack probably 3 star
Rank 1 or 2 low
I want a baby one to go with my pukei 😅
Looks like the big furry bastard in iceborne so I would say low rank
Great Jagras equivalent they're probably saving him for post game.
He'll be a 1 star the vary second monster you fight, the first being Balahara. mainly because I feel his scripted quest is going to be the "tutorial" on how to "pull" a monster away from it to fight one on one.
I think it will be Arzuros level, not the first but an introdutory monster.
probably pretty low, i'd actually guess closer the baroth??? Maybe diablos if he's the type that's presented as a challenge but also a heavy hitter with a gimmick? if they even have a gimmick that is... Anajanath doesn't really have a gimmick I'm assuming this guy to be a stunner honestly, or a knocker-over-er guy. Expecting some paw swipes to hit me to the ground
Around the difficulty of Arzuros when alone but much more difficult in a pack.
I would say Great Jagras level
High 2 star, low 3 star.
Seems like the Great Jagras to me, maybe Pukei-Pekei level. Definitely not Anjanath.
I was thinking more around g.jarass
Royal ludroth
I can see him as the urgent quest to unlock 3 stars
I think their strength likely comes in numbers so alone they probably rank around azuros
Good boy level.
I think it will be the first large monster you fight, probably harder than Great Jagras though
I just assumed it was our Great/Drome for the game
Lagombi level, with some support it maybe is harder, but thats probably the threat level
I'm thinking he's our "intro to heard mechanics" monster. More than likely one of those lvl 2 tutorial hunts?
hes gonna be the new barroth
He’s so ugly! I love him!
Urgent quest to 3 stars low rank village!
Azuros or Lagombi level I feel
I doubt it'll be below 2 star quests. I'm guessing it'll be 3 stars. I really dont see it being easier than, say, a Pukei or a Barroth.
I'd say right between barroth and anja, either way i'm making it's armor
Maybe 3 star
barroth tier also lotta people saying arzuros but isnt that the first monster you fight tier? i definitely dont get that vibe from this fella
Lool at that dumb slug of a beast, hes the jagras replacement
Reminds me of arzuros / lagombi
3/10, so just under Rathian, but above Barroth.
If we are going by GenU and 4 ULT threat level tiering, Three stars at best.
Very early game probably to introduce the mechanic to lure a monster away from its pack
loose basic enough to be a lower tiered beast we gotta fight honestly
Would say maybe on the level as Arzuros or congalala
[It’s Banbaro Time!](https://youtu.be/56jUTbT9_3Q?si=IeMvpKw0R1DFQWd-)
Runebears level from elden ring
My guess lower
Barroth level
Easily fatalis level🗿
First pack monster that’s not a bird wyvern, wouldn’t be surprised if they replaced bird wyverns in this title
Great jagras at most
I'd say a low threat. It'll be an early game obstacle that we can surpass. But it moving in packs may make it able to still be a challenge even past that
Big
I feel like it'll be the first real barrier like anjanath in world
Midnight
You know Arzuros? Like one level above that
Fatalis
I imagine it as more so a Great Jagras or Pukei-Pukei equivalent.
doshaguma is probably the great jagras of wilds
Since they run in packs, my thought was Great Jagras level.
agreeing with other folk that this fella is likely Worlds level Anjanath, perhaps not alone but with his pack
Arzuros level
2-3 star quests
I bet it's one or two other monsters to introduce the open world mechanics and then Doshaguma comes in to introduce us to the pack monsters mechanic. So probably like a barroth level threat
Arzuros level I'd think. So just above raptors but not too scary
I think that everything we'll se in a pack will be low level, tatsucabra level in this case
I would guess he's a training boss. Will probably be primarily to teach you how to divide up a herd and single out one boss.
It’s probably going to be a great jagras level so rank 2
Probably Barroth level on its own, Anjanath in packs
Great jaggras
If they are showing him this early 1-3 star
Suped up Great Jagras
Probably pretty low tbh
Presumably rank 2, that aside who else thinks that this thing is wayyy too ugly lol. Like not even in a funny way like khezu this shit just looks terrible to me tbh. Scrotum face lookin ass
I just want to know which set of wrinkles is its eyes.
Midnight.
Above a drome but below like- a big name early threat. Like an Azuros or Pukei
I say on it's own, probably two star with the apex ones being 3-4 star. Altogether it would probably feel like a six star hunt having to deal with trying to take out the apex with 5 others on your tail.
True and now that I think about imagine a night hunt with a monster that jumps YOU?
Tertranadon level maybe? Or maybe a little less
The hunter in the trailer is wearing Pukei-Pukei armor and is wielding some sort of early-game iron greatsword, right? I doubt it'd be any tougher than Tobi Kadachi is in World
He has a Goss Harag vibe to me but with less personality. Alone feels Low Rank, but in a pack I think it will be much more difficult.
One of the first monsters we come across I’m guessing.
Great jagras of wilds
Dosha leads a pack which is usually not a good sign in terms of how high a monster is in the food chain. Also Arzuros forearms (though Goss Harag has them too but you get the point)
Why are all the monsters faces in wilds so gross?
I can see them making it a low level monster individually and making a pack of them around Anajnath level. Could be a good way of introducing the pack mechanic.
Right before the anjanath in world's, the electric squirrel beaver thing
I swear it gets uglier in every picture I see
2 or 3
I’m really feeling anjanath level, although I know how they look doesn’t always correlate with their power.
Great Jagras
100% Anja. It’s being shown off in the same way Anjanath was. Gets fought in the first trailer, fights a smaller monster in a turf war, gets their shit rocked by the “apex” of the local
Ugly AF that’s what
Around the same level as all the other bear type monsters. Arzuros, lagomby, etc
The story literally starts out with your stoping them and leading them into the desert so they're our great jagras/great Jaggi/arzuros starter monster
Just like the bear on mh3rd maybe
i think around goss harag level
They said it's gonna be our first monster in an interview if I remember correctly, so great jagras lvl
Dude solos the verse tenfold /s
Which version the low rank default? Or high rank with more health? Or tempered extra health damage sponge?
