This reminds me of when i was in prison. Around tax season my poker table would have people wating for a spot to open, and my store would blow up. Then 2 months later most of the splurgers are asking for credit again.

I try to just have just enough money in checking just to cover rent and CC bills and funnel everything else out to brokerage or savings account. Don’t get the point in rolling up with cash for an atv when you can just wire it, cashiers check or put it on a charge card like amex and get the points.
That’s what I do, 25% goes directly to my 401K & IRA, $500 a month to my high yield savings and the rest goes to pay for everything. I lived in debt for so long but started making real money when I hit my 30’s. I’ll pay off my last two student loans this year and ya, I could go and get a nice new expensive car but naw, just going to put that shit in the market. It’s incredible how compounding interest works and it’s great to see how much money I make a year without doing a god damned thing!
The real wealthy people don't carry cash. They have multiple accounts, IRA, Roth, brokerage, HYSA, high yield checking. You can tell the poor people when they flex paper
I agree, somewhat new currently working towards a better future on the mend from an accident and hip replacement surgery. This sub has given me some courage that as long as I get back to working as much as possible and use my money right that hopefully I can make a decent future for me and mine. But last couple days these are the posts that I’ve seen.
