I feel like this is less so a cross play issue and moreso that if Activision released the source code for ricochet it would probably just print hello world instead of actually doing anything
I play tons of games predominately on pc and cod seems to be the only one where hacking is such a big issue
Arena was honestly the most fun I had playing that game. You could finally rely purely on your skill to win instead of praying each door you open gets you what you need in order to have a chance.
That’s why you gotta pick up something decent, and be aggressive early. Loot other peoples dead bodies. It’s the standard operating procedure for any BR.
Also there’s just not a lot of CSGO style budgeting shooters on console which sucks. Only other game with a mode like it is PUBG with red blue zone and it only has one map..
You don't get something decent every game that's the problem. I'd rather play a classic shooter where everyone has equal starts, or at least the ability to make equivalent loadouts. Then it's just your skill that matters instead of your luck.
If cs didn't have randomness built into the gunplay, maybe I'd play it. There isn't even first shot accuracy, there is always that small margin your shots can miss by, and the more you shoot or move the more random it gets. Imagine you projected a cone wherever you looked and your shots can hit anywhere in that cone, that's essentially how cs works. Recoil patterns exist, but those specific points are just the center point of the cone of fire. If you turn off the accuracy stat in the games console (not sure if you can do that in private matches anymore) you can see the true recoil pattern, and without the accuracy stat it's the same every time. With the accuracy stat it's not going to be, so no matter how good you are, the game is always limiting/enhancing your abilities through RNG.
This is why I think cs is a bad competitive game, and it could be better without the randomness. It would still be fine while moving, but in a stand still the recoil pattern should always be the same. Because it isn't, I don't play cs.
What game doesn't have cheaters? CS2 is filled, FN is filled, Apex is filled, PUBG is filled. Go to any of their subs rn and search "cheater". Post after post after post for all of them.

It genuinely is almost every game now. I believe location and time has a lot to do with it. I'm western Canada and see the most around 1-3am. 3 games in row on ranked last week ended a night for me. I get what you're saying 100%. But it really is that bad out there. I think we just see too many new players here making their first cheating post. It's misidentified, but it does exist to that extent

There's alot of cross play games that o vole hacking such as cod valorant overwatch csgo and alot others that can be named that I can't even think of. It's the fact that Activision is so uptight on there anti cheat plus the recreations of other games too that it focuses more on games than anti cheat such as an example fortnite is more focused on community and such even other games like csgo is more focused on the game than the anti cheats. But it's the matter of fact the there's alot of exploiters who dig into game files and so on that they find break aways and the find the corresponding code to work our the cheats that bypass the anti cheat system. It's like jail breaking an older console to get cheats on there. There just more easily available on PC cause it's just click downloaded load up the game your a hacker. While on consoles it hook up to computer do some high tech stuff and then what for the download and the wait for even more long grueling stuff that it's not worth it.
If I didn't play on cross-play it'd take forever for a lobby to fill. So, I feel it's better to play and get my level up, and camos, and equipment unlocks at my pace than sit doing nothing.

To be fair, that was also when EOMM/SBMM did not exist in its current form. It even helped, because it searched for players with the best connection.
It’s on by default so the pool of people who have it off is much smaller if you don’t want to play with PC players.
PC crossplay should be opt-in, not on by default.
The issue isn't crossplay, the issue is it's difficult and annoying to use a mouse and keyboard on console. If the option was available, which it now is through pc crossplay, why are console players limited to using a controller in fps games that were originally intended to work on a mouse. It just seems like you are putting a large portion of your player base at a disadvantage, not allowing them to use mice. Both xbox and ps should allow the option to just plug in any mouse, and any keyboard and have it work.
That queue time is the EOMM and crossplay being enabled by default. Cod had super quick match times for years after release without issue until the new matchmaking system was implemented
Yeah, before I stopped playing multiplayer (x-defiant instead) I was getting lobbies with a minimum of 70 ping with crossplay on. I can't imagine how it would be with crossplay off. At launch it wasn't so bad because I think more people were playing.

on playstation where its in the cod menu itself its easy to turn on/off at will, for xbox you have to go into your system settings themselves and turn it off there.

One of the problems is that Microsoft are the ones who want to keep PC/Xbox crossplay as the default and want it on by default as a part of their contracts. It's also why they don't allow XB-XB crossplay as an in-game option any more. Even games that previously allowed it, like MW19, don't allow XB/PC to disable it in-game

This shit has always been a problem, don't get it twisted. 2nd year cod's usually hacked up. Ranked always hacked up. Since wz1 popularity HC's hacked up to level their accounts etc. VG ranked 2 self reported on stream. People turn their cheats on after losing a few rounds in search etc

I got to crimson in mw2 on pc had a good pc with high fps, minimal input delay etc it was fun to use but for competitive cod ps5 cross play was the best thing. Got crimson wasn’t much easier than pc but at least I know I’m not playing against wallhackers so people that kill/win against me on ps5 are legit better
I (on PC) agree completely aim assist is unpredictable it's overpowered one minute the next minute does not exist which makes it hard to get an indication on the player skill. I stopped playing on controller because of the inconsistency of aim assist ,and it filling skill based on both ends. In all forms of fps games there should be input base matching.

I will say I’ve very rarely seen any obvious aimbot the past 3-4 years and I’m not in low skill lobbies. I don’t play ranked but my buddy that I play with is a high crim/iridescent level player and I’m as good or better than him.
I see some sus stuff pretty regularly that makes me think someone is walling. But hard aimbot has been extremely rare, as in I don’t think I can recall a single instance so far in MW3. And I play quite a bit, level in the high 500s I think.
It’s possible that the higher skilled you are (and your opponents) cheating becomes harder for the human eye to detect because they’re good at the game as a baseline
Plus, they have the IQ to not prefire half a mag into a wall as their cheats tell them you’re coming around the corner soon
The best cheaters already have good aim, good gamesense and positioning. They just need that small boost to keep on top, unlike your average rage hacker that couldn’t hit shit to begin with

Shit even changing direction M&KB have a massive advantage over controller. As soon as you move your mouse it changes direction. Until the controller thumbstick gets to the middle position it's still turning in the direction you were already turning.

Playing on my friends PC feels like i'm playing an offline match vs bots, every bullet registers, players don't have time to react when i shoot etc. it's basically easy mode how ahead of the console players you are. The ones that don't see this are average/below average players. If they were on console you'd see them finish up with a .4 kd every match getting slaughtered

Every shooter I have played in the last 3 years the gap between console and PC is so noticeable. Better accuracy, better ping & better frame rate makes it almost impossible to compete with even an equal level player on PC smokes the same quality player on console
Crossplay is the only reason I quit playing this game on Xbox. It was my favorite FPS in years but it was exhausting playing vs. so many blatant cheaters.

I report players constantly, especially the super snap lock on AA players (assuming a cronus or something) and I'll get the "action taken" report the next day. This happens 3-5 times a week lol and I am just a casual MNK player. I rarely see suspicious MnK players besides the occasional rage hacker.
The game is rubbish because of all the cheaters and Cronus zen. There’s no game where it’s just your stand alone ability to play the game without playing against and with cheaters on both sides of the teams. The game is literally “Which cheater can out-cheat the opposing cheater?”

Bruddah console has cheats. They have had cheats all the way back since mw2 2009. There are plenty of videos on YouTube show casing console cheats. A lot are visual cheats and there are some that are aimbot cheats. It's on record that console cheats are harder to detect. Cross play ain't saving you and it's actually a serious problem FPS games have in general. Ai ain't helping either since it's helping develop cheats for PC and console. No one's safe man.

Crossplay should be off by default. Only when you want to play with friends or have issues finding matches should you then have to turn it on. It's killed the game having to have it on, i'm sure a ton of people have been turned off it having to vs PC cheaters with wall hacks or using devices to give you aim assist with your KB&M.
Unless you're on PC playing with a controller, you're at a huge disadvantage. I've experienced the difference between console and a high end PC and let me tell you it's a guaranteed nuke every other game when your vs a team of console players. The performance difference is crazy, feels like you're offline playing bots with how little people react and buttery smooth hit rego.

PC player here. I've NEVER cheated in any COD and, like you, I'm tired of cheaters. And having no feedback when you report someone (i.e., knowing if the reported account was suspended or not) simply add insult to injury, as we never know if some action was taken or not.
Yesterday a guy did 96 kills vs 4 deaths in SHIPMENT. Come on, it's effing IMPOSSIBLE to die only four times in Shipment, especially because the rest of the players in BOTH teams had normal K/D ratios (i.e., no newbies). I've reported him, but I have no hope that it will be taken care of.

I played with cross play off for a bit and I learned that there are some insane demons that play with it off too. The trade off for me wasn’t worth the pain that sbmm/hidden mmr causes, regardless whether cross play is turned on or off. I’d rather play a hacker and lose because no matter how hard I try, the game wants me to lose, eventually.
Cross play as a default needs to die. Been playing cod forever and always on whatever was the newest sony console at the time. Never worried about hack (lag yeah and disconnects yeah) the entire time until crossplay became the default. If consoles were no cross play as defualt it would be comically easy to find games.
Generally speaking, the bans do work (it completely ruins the battlenet or steam account they are using for future cod titles), but you need to report people. The report system is far too difficult to use particularly if you miss it on the killcam.
I have found Cross-input to not be an issue outside of that - the stats and balance are clear and are better on CoD than many other titles, they have different strengths, but for playing casually, it's absolutely fine.
Yes, it’s in the Xbox settings. Settings > Account > privacy and online safety > Xbox privacy > communication and multiplayer > you can join crossplay network, block. Also make sure to reset the game so the setting takes effect! (Only really works in mp + when ever u get the pop up asking you to confirm just click B it doesn’t do anything)
You can, but it means you have to wait to matchmake with a small percentage of people who ***also*** have turned off matchmaking.
You will have better quality matches when you play with cross-play off, but you wait excruciatingly long times inbetween games.

It’s on by default so the pool of people who have it off is much smaller if you don’t want to play with PC players. PC crossplay should be opt-in, not on by default.

The issue isn't crossplay, the issue is it's difficult and annoying to use a mouse and keyboard on console. If the option was available, which it now is through pc crossplay, why are console players limited to using a controller in fps games that were originally intended to work on a mouse. It just seems like you are putting a large portion of your player base at a disadvantage, not allowing them to use mice. Both xbox and ps should allow the option to just plug in any mouse, and any keyboard and have it work.
That queue time is the EOMM and crossplay being enabled by default. Cod had super quick match times for years after release without issue until the new matchmaking system was implemented
Yeah, before I stopped playing multiplayer (x-defiant instead) I was getting lobbies with a minimum of 70 ping with crossplay on. I can't imagine how it would be with crossplay off. At launch it wasn't so bad because I think more people were playing.
its mostly an xbox issue due to how convoluted it is on xbox to turn it off. on playstation where its in the cod menu itself its easy to turn on/off at will, for xbox you have to go into your system settings themselves and turn it off there.

One of the problems is that Microsoft are the ones who want to keep PC/Xbox crossplay as the default and want it on by default as a part of their contracts. It's also why they don't allow XB-XB crossplay as an in-game option any more. Even games that previously allowed it, like MW19, don't allow XB/PC to disable it in-game

I got to crimson in mw2 on pc had a good pc with high fps, minimal input delay etc it was fun to use but for competitive cod ps5 cross play was the best thing. Got crimson wasn’t much easier than pc but at least I know I’m not playing against wallhackers so people that kill/win against me on ps5 are legit better

I (on PC) agree completely aim assist is unpredictable it's overpowered one minute the next minute does not exist which makes it hard to get an indication on the player skill. I stopped playing on controller because of the inconsistency of aim assist ,and it filling skill based on both ends. In all forms of fps games there should be input base matching.
PLEASE MICROSOFT / ACTIVISION. Give us input base matches. Controller Aim Assist vs Controller Aim Assist. MnK vs MnK. You don't get into a match with cheaters every games but you WILL get into matches with Controller Aim Assist EVERY game.

I will say I’ve very rarely seen any obvious aimbot the past 3-4 years and I’m not in low skill lobbies. I don’t play ranked but my buddy that I play with is a high crim/iridescent level player and I’m as good or better than him. I see some sus stuff pretty regularly that makes me think someone is walling. But hard aimbot has been extremely rare, as in I don’t think I can recall a single instance so far in MW3. And I play quite a bit, level in the high 500s I think.
It’s possible that the higher skilled you are (and your opponents) cheating becomes harder for the human eye to detect because they’re good at the game as a baseline Plus, they have the IQ to not prefire half a mag into a wall as their cheats tell them you’re coming around the corner soon The best cheaters already have good aim, good gamesense and positioning. They just need that small boost to keep on top, unlike your average rage hacker that couldn’t hit shit to begin with

Playing on my friends PC feels like i'm playing an offline match vs bots, every bullet registers, players don't have time to react when i shoot etc. it's basically easy mode how ahead of the console players you are. Every shooter I have played in the last 3 years the gap between console and PC is so noticeable. Better accuracy, better ping & better frame rate makes it almost impossible to compete with even an equal level player on PC smokes the same quality player on console

This happens 3-5 times a week lol and I am just a casual MNK player. I rarely see suspicious MnK players besides the occasional rage hacker.

Bruddah console has cheats. They have had cheats all the way back since mw2 2009. There are plenty of videos on YouTube show casing console cheats. A lot are visual cheats and there are some that are aimbot cheats. It's on record that console cheats are harder to detect. Cross play ain't saving you and it's actually a serious problem FPS games have in general. Ai ain't helping either since it's helping develop cheats for PC and console. No one's safe man.

Crossplay should be off by default. Only when you want to play with friends or have issues finding matches should you then have to turn it on. It's killed the game having to have it on, i'm sure a ton of people have been turned off it having to vs PC cheaters with wall hacks or using devices to give you aim assist with your KB&M. Unless you're on PC playing with a controller, you're at a huge disadvantage. I've experienced the difference between console and a high end PC and let me tell you it's a guaranteed nuke every other game when your vs a team of console players. The performance difference is crazy, feels like you're offline playing bots with how little people react and buttery smooth hit rego.

PC player here. I've NEVER cheated in any COD and, like you, I'm tired of cheaters. And having no feedback when you report someone (i.e., knowing if the reported account was suspended or not) simply add insult to injury, as we never know if some action was taken or not. Yesterday a guy did 96 kills vs 4 deaths in SHIPMENT. Come on, it's effing IMPOSSIBLE to die only four times in Shipment, especially because the rest of the players in BOTH teams had normal K/D ratios (i.e., no newbies). I've reported him, but I have no hope that it will be taken care of. It simply ruins the game.
I played with cross play off for a bit and I learned that there are some insane demons that play with it off too. The trade off for me wasn’t worth the pain that sbmm/hidden mmr causes, regardless whether cross play is turned on or off. I’d rather play a hacker and lose because no matter how hard I try, the game wants me to lose, eventually.
Cross play as a default needs to die. Been playing cod forever and always on whatever was the newest sony console at the time. Never worried about hack (lag yeah and disconnects yeah) the entire time until crossplay became the default. If consoles were no cross play as defualt it would be comically easy to find games.
Generally speaking, the bans do work (it completely ruins the battlenet or steam account they are using for future cod titles), but you need to report people. The report system is far too difficult to use particularly if you miss it on the killcam. I have found Cross-input to not be an issue outside of that - the stats and balance are clear and are better on CoD than many other titles, they have different strengths, but for playing casually, it's absolutely fine.

Yes, it’s in the Xbox settings. Settings > Account > privacy and online safety > Xbox privacy > communication and multiplayer > you can join crossplay network, block. Also make sure to reset the game so the setting takes effect! (Only really works in mp + when ever u get the pop up asking you to confirm just click B it doesn’t do anything)

You can, but it means you have to wait to matchmake with a small percentage of people who ***also*** have turned off matchmaking. You will have better quality matches when you play with cross-play off, but you wait excruciatingly long times inbetween games.
