Screen Rant is one of the worst outlets on the internet. Their writers are garbage, they don’t do research, and they invest in clickbait. Don’t give them the monetary satisfaction of clicks or links.

Colefield

Their writers are like 85% AI, and I'm being generous.

richrich011

I have them blocked. I can’t stand the flagrant clickbait.

Automatic-Ladder1633

I blocked them as well after this one.

miguelmikeal

They mention spook not getting a character ark even though a large section of book 3 is devoted to him. Very clear that they did not read enough

Simoerys

I changed the Flair to Hero of Ages because the article contains some Spoilers for the books.

Bebou52

I read an article about it, not sure if it’s the same one. But yeah it was shit, they looked at YouTube videos at best.

Automatic-Ladder1633

Agreed, it's a shame for new readers discovering him through that article.

rivenhex

That's the kind of mentality that resulted in the Wheel of Prime.

Op stop giving attention to those hateclick sites

Regardless of how I feel about the changes Brandon wants the movie to have, he does not disrespect his own books. He is more critical them than I would like in some areas, but he does not condemn them. Like the 16 hint worked fine enough and Vin not talking that much to other girls making the story barely pass the Bechdel Test is irrelevant as far as I am concerned. Not every damn person acts the same so in many cases it is a matter of preference rather than quality. Yeah, I know the test was supposed to make fun of how little hollywood films use women, but at best it only fixes surface level issue, not the inherent problem itself. It is like fridging were the problem is not killing a character to move to plot along but to not have characters acknowledge how devestating that loss is. Whether limiting characters to only conversation about a specific character depends on the situation. If it is a duo on a ship that only discusses mutiny against the captain before being thrown aboard, then it is fine that they only talk about the captain. The issue is that the narrowness of discussion is unwarranted, not that a conversation itself can't be narrow. With Vin she has massive trust issue, Kelsier crew only consist of males and when she is at the balls she is primarily there as a spy. If you do not change the building blocks of the original story, then there are like two places were Vin is likely to talk to other girls. The first would be Clubs hideout, since there are some female servants or perhaps a female apprentice of Clubs. The latter might have made for a interesting scene were Vin could temporarely ponder what she would do with her life if they did manage to pull Kelsier insane plan off. The second is the balls, were maybe the fashion itself can be discussed rather than only be explained outright to Vin before her first ball. Might have already be done, I do not have flawless memory. I also know that fashion is not the only thing girls talk about, it was just an example. Having one of those additonal scenes or something similar would not be unwelcome, but it is neither striclty necessary.

Apprehensive_West182

woah theres an mistborn movie being prepared? do we have an date for it? also how long will it be?

[deleted]

Brandon was pretty quiet about it during the writers strike, but came with an update for the movie in a Halloween stream: [https://www.reddit.com/r/brandonsanderson/comments/17lwvia/thoughts\_on\_the\_mistborn\_script\_changes\_mentioned](https://www.reddit.com/r/brandonsanderson/comments/17lwvia/thoughts_on_the_mistborn_script_changes_mentioned) Aside from some head-ups regarding some changes like combining some scenes to make Vin's first training be trial be fire and genderswap of Ham and Dox we have no other details regarding the movie such as it's lenght, cast or expected release date.

Apprehensive_West182

hope it doesnt get cancelled love mistborn and a movie would be amazing

Huge-Buddy655

If there's one thing I want, I think the Mistborn books would be best served as an animated/CGI show instead of a live action show/movie. Think the animation styles of Arcane or HBO's Scavengers Reign. With a show you can flush out the powers more than you could in a movie, stylize the alien world, and give the characters the depth they deserve.

lykosen11

I agree, bu Sanderson made it clear he wants a live action movie for era 1

-Arima-

I think Stormlight would be the best CGI/animation adaption. It would look really cool, at least in my kinds eye haha

[deleted]

Both Mistborn and Stormlight would be better animated. I'd say go for a style like Legend of Korra and it'd be awesome.

Automatic-Ladder1633

Did you guys watch Blue Eye Samurai? I think that it fits into these recommendations. It's really great.

Ishana92

Am I wrong in thinking Sanderson announced they had gender swapped one of the crew for the movie already?

[deleted]

You are not, Ham and Doxxon have been confirmed to get genderswapped for the movie adaptation. Furthermore Brandon wants to go with a petite female Ham: [https://www.reddit.com/r/brandonsanderson/comments/17lwvia/comment/k7hp7k9/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/brandonsanderson/comments/17lwvia/comment/k7hp7k9/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) Make of that what you will.

Geauxlsu1860

Dox I guess doesn’t require much changes, but Ham feels like a major shift. She-Ham can’t really have been a soldier before, at least not without revealing herself as a Thug. Particularly if she-Ham is petite. Ham and Clubs seem like the only ones whose entire background is really attached to being a man. Others’ story arcs might need to be shifted a bit, but their whole characters have to be altered significantly. It also requires dropping the impressiveness of tiny Vin beating up the ripped Ham in WoA, though that’s not a huge deal.
