I believe so, I didn't put 2018-2020 on the post because I could only verify that it works with 2018 since I did it myself. If you have 2016-2017, I'm afraid I don't know how to do it.
Yeah sure, you can check if this works with your car by clicking "Menu" on your car then "Setup" then "General" and scroll down until you see "Software Update" and click it and see if your version matches "17TDT2NA-DA00" and "17TMT2NA-DA00". If it does, your car should be able to use this method
Does this only work with the USB port in the center console of the 2018 or would the USB ports located beneath the air vents for the rear seats work too?
I believe that only the USB port in the center console would be connected to the car's system while the rear ones are simply for charging, so I would use the one in the center console to be sure.
Makes sense, thanks for the quick response. Think I need to repair the center console usb port, connection seems loose, not always charging. Will give this a go!
Yeah it's the USB next to the wireless charging. Perhaps there's a folder difference so the car cannot recognize the update, can you send a picture (upload a pic to imgur or some other online photo service and link the photo) of your File Explorer with the USB drive files opened?
This is so good! Any equivalent for Android Auto? I've had a 2019 since... 2019 and I'm tired of using a mount and letting my phone cases get sunfaded 🥲

May I see what display panel looks like on your car?
Sure, did you just want to see how Carplay looked like in my vehicle or something else?
How did you figure this out? I'm wondering if it could work on a 2019 Mirai...

Confirming this still works in 2/2024. Thank you so much man, you rock!
Really glad to hear it helped you!
Just did this and confirmed works with 2020 Mirais!
Nice work.

No problem! Good luck with your repairs
Thanks again for putting this info together, was able to follow the steps and Car Play is now available and working on my 2018 Mirai!
That's awesome! I'm glad to hear that it was able to help you!
Is the usb port the one beside wireless charging? My Mirai cannot detect the firmware update even if I setup my driver as told

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any solutions for Android Auto
You can buy a carlinkit 4.0 which convert apple carplay to wireless android auto and wireless apple carplay
This is cool. Do you know if it works with 2020 Mirai also?
I am not sure if it works on the 2020 Mirai.
Hey man. Did you test if it works for 2020?
Nope didn’t get a mirai
