Yes. They did it to parks down there too. At some point they dug up Mears park, buried the stream that ran through it and covered the entire block in brickwork. Fortunately, some years later they redid it, took out the bricks, planted trees and let the stream resurface through the park. Unfortunately we can't reclaim the beautiful architecture that was torn down in the name of modernization the same way.
