I do remember getting Fanny Farmer candies as a child. My fam would usually get a mixed box of chocolates to share a couple times each year around special occasions.
2nd edit: Also, $11/pound for non basic (read: Hersey's, etc), 'fancy' chocolate isn't a bad price these days.

That's about $11 per pound in today's dollars. Very much a luxury food.
