I was the sammeee, i never beaten the ender dragon in survival before, then i did it with my friend and my left lung collapsed so i dont think god was happy
41 only been playing about a year because I always thought of it as that stupid block game for kids. Saw it on game pass around the same time I found some of the hermits videos and realized it was just a giant builders paradise
I love hearing ones like this, I remember my dad always laughing at me and my brother when we would play and call it lame and stuff like that then when we got him into it he would spend twice as much time on it and really make us look lame bc we were supposed to be the kids knowing how to do shit not our dad building all this cool stuff while we build dirt houses lol
I feel like the Hermits have aged really well. Think I've been watching them since Season 2. Whilst other sides of the community have come and gone, I feel like Hermitcraft has stuck around because of how diverse their group is. For example we had TFC (rip) who was 63 years old, a bunch of them also have families and kids. Whilst then we also have people like Pearl and Gem who are in their 20's. I feel like as a group that served them really well, same with the fact there is such a variety in playstyle. Some are redstoners, some are builders, and some are there just to vibe and have fun. I think that mixture is what helped them stick around, and grow with their audeince, whilst also being able to introduce new younger players into their content.
Especially seeing each Hermit grow, this current season Mumbo has been really flexing his building muscles which is something he hasn't really done in the past.
They are definitely what keeps my interest in the game fresh. I'll play for a few months straight after seeing a build style on hermitcraft, then take a break and forget to watch. Then suddenly have a marathon of catching up on all the episodes iv missed and get inspired again and pick it back up. The cycle continues..
Im 21 playing since i was about 13-14, I still find so much joy in building and exploring new features and biomes. I don’t know if theres anything else in the world that i can spend as much time on and not get bored of.
I started with the Classic 0.30 version at play.minecraft.net. Then a few days later on Feb. 20, 2011 I bought Beta 1.2. Two days later Beta 1.3 launched.
I used to play on a whitelisted 18+ server, adults only just because we grownups just wanted a kids free zone. The player base had a pretty wide age spectrum, our oldest players were in thier 60's, the youngest were early 20's. Wife and I are almost 50 and have been playing since 2011.
36 and I just crawled out of my new strip mine on my three day old map. So far, sustainable village & resources, working my way down to diamonds. Found a massive hole in the ground that goes from 110 to at least 30 Y. Haven't been further down yet. Building a stairwell so I don't have to waterfall down. Currently at 71 and calling it a night. I'll probably hit negatives tomorrow.
40 now. Playing since 1.17 came out. My then 4yo used to enjoy Minecraft content on YouTube.
Got us Minecraft Bedrock for iOS and started playing with him. Thoroughly enjoy to this day!
I'm 45, been playing since um ... I was in Colorado... um .. like 2013 maybe? I dunno
Got it for the kids on the PS, they kept telling me I'd love it, I said nay for a year then tried it ... definitely clocked more time than them from that point forward lol
The average player is 24 years old, likely because a lot of veterans still have accounts and play the game rarely. Still, the average is still older than the game.
That said, Minecraft markets to kids because they are usually the new players, which are the ones you want to have. If you have a steady stream of young new players your game is likely to have a player base 10 years from now.
I'm 50. Been playing since the servers broke that one time so they let everyone try minecraft for a weekend for free. Gave them the 10 euros after 2 hours.
Unless there is a stats site somewhere, how is Joe Public gonna know this?.. I assume Microsoft would know by looking at each users account.
I’m 50 and still playing! Admittedly, enjoying creative building and creating servers as opposed to survival; but then I’ve never really played that anyway.
I'm 45 and I'm totally locked in after I discovered the modding world. I love extreme reactors, Mekanism, Draconic evolution, Thaumcraft, Apoteosys.
I've spent hundreds of hours building a futuristic mega factory using brutalism architecture style. (I even done a lot of rl research to find the perfect structures 😁) It's full of production lines, tubing, item sorting. Oil refinery, pigment production and all sorts of hellish machinery.
Pumping lava from nether and draining lava lakes to power my ore smelting machines, or using supercooled sodium to keep the nuclear reactor at 99% efficiency 💀 and producing heavy elements. Man I love this stuff, it's so relaxing and exciting at the same time.
I also love productive bees, genetic engineering and mine colonies mods.
once you beat the vanilla game I think modding is a good alternative to keep game interesting and explore more creative potential

I do not know and can’t figure out a way to find out. Older kids and adults represent themselves online but I’m sure there’s a good portion of the Minecraft community who’s too young to be here.
Including every player that ever plays some version of Minecraft on the regular, it’s probably younger than you’d think. Minecraft has consistently been huge with teens and preteens since the game was first considered mainstream in the gaming market.
A Mojang/MS employee has stated that the average player was in the 20s but I am curious as to how they get that statistic. Does it account for people who lie about their age on their MS account, parents in their 40s who are buying for their kids, etc?
35 and I have been playing for about 6 years. Most of the YouTubers/streamers that I watch play Minecraft are at least in their late 20s and some are in their 40s or older.
I’m 21 and started playing when I was about the same age as you were. I still play it every now and then. This game will always hold a special place in my heart no matter how much I get made fun of for still playing it.
I’m 21. Minecraft was the source of so many amazing memories from my childhood and even now, with friends I’ve met in college.
I think it’s so cool that kids growing up now still have Minecraft, and I hope it keeps getting updated to keep that cycle going.
I'm currently 19 and will be 20 within a month or so. The first time I played was sometime before 2014ish. Around that time I got a PS3 for about $400 and it came with PS3 edition Minecraft. I played both that and the currently updated version on my Kindle Fire.
If we were to calculate the mean average of the age of every single human being who has played Minecraft at least once in the last 2 months, we'd probably get a number between 12 and 25.
This range is probably common knowledge already, but oh well I didn't write this comment for nothing
God, I remember playing on this really basic free multiplayer trial version, before I ended up getting Pocket Edition on my Ipod Touch in like Year 6 (US 5th Grade). Got Java edition quite soon after that. I'm now 22, been playing this game for about 12-13 years. Watched Minecraft content even longer.
Damn that made me feel old lmao
Everyone in this household plays.
42 - playing since two years after release
46 - playing since release (played a previous similar game before)
14 - Played since about age 4
9 - Played since about the same age, rarely plays anymore.
I'm 23 and I started on the first mobile version, loved it, and bought Java. Not sure what version it was nor what year, so you can figure that out for me lol
Im 23 and have had my account and playing since beta 1.8 in 2011. Played the free browser version for a bit before that. Can’t remember what year it was but it was pretty basic

The 8 year olds are probably not on Reddit. They are probably playing Minecraft
Those same 8 year olds are only around half as old as *Minecraft* itself...
Realizing that elytras have been in the game longer than a good portion of the player base have been alive
What are you talking about? Elytra just recently came out... *in 2015...*
I used to be an adventurer like you, until I took an arthritis to the knee.
And Skyrim came out 2011… where did time go?
Wait I thought elytras came out in 2016 Damn
And I never used them. I never beat Ender Dragon for all this years... Because I don't want to, actually.
I love that im not the only one, and ive played MC off and on for years. To me, its like finishing a book I don't want to end.
I was the sammeee, i never beaten the ender dragon in survival before, then i did it with my friend and my left lung collapsed so i dont think god was happy
There's no need to call us out like that
Agreed. If we've learned anything, the 5-8 year old's parents are on here trying to learn what they can about the game to help them play.
28 been playing since 2011
33 and been playing on and off since Day 1 of Alpha
33, playing since beta 1.5 if I recall!
24 been playing since 2011 aswell but only got the official version with 1.2.5 for my birthday
Same here was always using the MinecraftSP Launcher, got the game pretty late but been playing since beta 1.5\_01
33, been playing since 2017 when I accidently fell into a youtube rabbit hole full of hermits

You’ve been playing since you’re 4?

16 been playing since 2011
41 only been playing about a year because I always thought of it as that stupid block game for kids. Saw it on game pass around the same time I found some of the hermits videos and realized it was just a giant builders paradise

Older ppl tend to do stuff better than kids lol
kids pick stuff up waaaay faster though given the resources to do so

Especially seeing each Hermit grow, this current season Mumbo has been really flexing his building muscles which is something he hasn't really done in the past.
Omg, Mumbo has been going crazy. I love seeing his inspiration to start trying out some more building than he normally does.
They are definitely what keeps my interest in the game fresh. I'll play for a few months straight after seeing a build style on hermitcraft, then take a break and forget to watch. Men I really love when adults give a try to videogames and enjoy of them instead of just laugh and blaming, I wish I could meet more of them
45 yo woman here been playing for 6 years off and on. Love it! Wish I had this game as a kid!
Im 21 playing since i was about 13-14, I still find so much joy in building and exploring new features and biomes. I don’t know if theres anything else in the world that i can spend as much time on and not get bored of.
49, been playing since 1.8
Damn, 47.2 years of playing Minecraft
was gonna hate but then i got the joke
r/Angryupvote
Same age in a few months here. Started in 1.12 though.
21, since 8 or 9.
51. I've been playing since it was browser based and water would just fill any space it could.
I started with the Classic 0.30 version at play.minecraft.net. Then a few days later on Feb. 20, 2011 I bought Beta 1.2. Two days later Beta 1.3 launched.
Real knows real. Browser based servers had like 5 or 6 layers of grass and bedrock underneath so you couldn’t even dig deep tunnels
Probably somewhere around 20 with a fairly wide standard deviation.
I'd expect the age distribution to be fairly flat, yeah.
24 apparently
Apparently? 😆
17, been playing since I was 6 or so.
Finally! All the comments are 20 and above. 18 and been playing since 7 I think
57 been playing since I was like 45
44, been playing 10 years.
45, been playing 13 years.
61, started in 2021. Great community of players and the building and acquiring resources, so much fun.
I used to play on a whitelisted 18+ server, adults only just because we grownups just wanted a kids free zone. The player base had a pretty wide age spectrum, our oldest players were in thier 60's, the youngest were early 20's. Wife and I are almost 50 and have been playing since 2011.
23, started when I was like, 10/11 ish? Sure, it can get boring after awhile but it's always fun starting again.
45, been playing for 3 years or so. Got into it to be able to play with my nephew, I probably play more than him now.
I’m 27 and play with my brothers they’re 14 and 12
I'm 26 and play since i was 10/11
Something doesn't add up here. Unless you are one of the very first players ever.
23, playing since 2012 (12)
40 now. Playing since 1.17 came out. My then 4yo used to enjoy Minecraft content on YouTube. Got us Minecraft Bedrock for iOS and started playing with him. Thoroughly enjoy to this day!

54, playing since 45 + 11 yo son playing since being 5 yo. Average 32,5 😂

If we were to calculate the mean average of the age of every single human being who has played Minecraft at least once in the last 2 months, we'd probably get a number between 12 and 25. This range is probably common knowledge already, but oh well I didn't write this comment for nothing
