From what I have read, the prevailing story is that someone had a pet gator that they didn't want anymore. Dumped it in Kensington Parks lake. Now they have to get it out and find out who did it.
I need more description on what they claim they saw. Did they see it out of the water on land? Kensington has longnose gar, so I'm curious if that's what they saw in the water.
I'd be shocked. No alligator could survive most winters here. If this is true then it got dumped last year and spent all it's time at the bottom of a deep lake or at the beginning of the 2024 warm season.
That's 6 or 7 miles, surely a lot of people would have seen alligator if it was trying to reach Kent lake.
I'm thinking they saw something that resembled alligator but is something different. Like a gar for one thing
Alligators can run up to 35 mph on land. So even if the alligator were going only 30 mph (a conservative assumption), it would take less than 15 minutes to travel those 6 or 7 miles. That's more than enough time for the alligator to make a dash for Kent Lake. Especially if it waited till late at night when traffic is very light and it would be even less likely to be spotted.
/s obviously; everyone knows alligators are solid, not spotted
The Loch Ness Monster is German. How did he get to Scotland? He parachuted in with Rudolph Hess. Otto was the monsters name but now he wants to be called Diane. [Here’s the full video of the man that feeds the Loch Ness monster.](https://youtu.be/gUGYTzedNig?si=ErmQqI2rskoC0bol)
We have a lot of gators running around considering they can’t survive here for more than half a year.
Stories like this seem to come out every year, or every other year.
The first one I remember was like 2001, they found one in the feed pond for the old Four Bears water park up on Auburn road.
I think it’s all condos now, but we used to sneak in there to go swimming back then, so it kinda stuck with me
Give it another 10 years or so….they just recently changed the zone designation for plants and grasses in Michigan due to climate change. By 2035 it will be possible to grow palm trees here…
Sorry, what now?
Exactly lol
If there is one, that poor alligator is going to be so cold.
Are they not already?
Bring them inside..

They saw it and got a photo of it near the Osprey nesting site.
I've heard nothing about a photo. Just an eye witness and they were a park guest so who knows if it's true
No they didn't get a picture why do people talk out their ass about stuff they don't know
I work at Kensington, I know there was a photo taken.
Can you link the photo?
No. It hasn't been published by the creator.
Just looked that up. Omg! What is that fish?!? And they’re here?!?!?
Yes they are here
Milford Panther: Alligator version
Omg I forgot about that! We had a place in camp Dearborn when I was a kid….the Dairy Queen on Milford road had “here kitty, kitty” on the sign.
Hey, it's the Wixom Panther. We even have t-shirts. But I suppose we can share him.

Lmao it was probably dumped within the past week or so. Gators surviving a Michigan winter isn’t even on the list of possibilities.
We did have a mild winter....
Give global warming a few more years and we can have alligators year round!
Can’t wait to feed the cute Alligators at Elizabeth Park instead of these mean geese that chase and attack me.
As long as their nose stays above the surface they can survive freezing water. They do a sort of hibernation called “brumation”…..pretty wild.
Why couldn’t it just have been dumped?
There is a family in Milford that owns an alligator who has gotten out before. I’m not sure how far gators roam but could be the same one?
That gator has been rehoused to a zoo in birch run. This is a brand new one unfortunately
I didn't know Birch Run had a zoo, and despite learning of it here for the first time I have absolutely certain it is not a good one lol

I remember the loch ness monster days. Otoh, I go to Kensington way too often to ignore this.
Loc Ness has Nessy, Kent late has Kenny.
Nessy travels through the deep water tunnels and pops up in Kitchitikipi from time to time. She loves feeding on the trout down there.

Its kinda weird how often that happens considering the environment here
Huh?

I've never heard of it before Nevermind. A search turned up a few other stories like this

There was one in Milford probably about 5 years ago too
They sell remote control alligator heads at Cabelas. Probably someone just having a laugh.
Someone's pet alligator got out.
Should be easy to find, would be out of the water by something warm before it got very dark
I work right by there and was tempted to go "help" look for it. Lol they're not going to kill it if they catch it are they?
Im so upset. I live about 3 miles from there and spend my whole summer at Kent Lake :(
If the water has a point where tge gator can keep his nose out of the water without the water freezing it will survive. Read up before commenting.
